  • In this paper, we proposed a parametric estimation method for estimating H/W cost by using the development data of professional service robot in Korea. In addition, we derived the factors and weights that we can estimate the costs depending on the application environmental conditions of the robot. For the analysis, we developed the equation of professional service robot cost estimation using parametric method. We also derived the adjustment factors and following weights through FGI and Delphi for environmental conditions. We have developed a cost estimation equation that reflects the weight, volume, and manufacturing difficulty, and can derive a relational equation that reflects the environmental factors(dust/water, heat/cold, safety, test, technology innovation). This provides an objective basis for estimating the cost of professional service robots and will lead to ongoing research for estimating the H/W development cost of professional service robots. In the future, we will increase reliability by collecting abundant data, and will strengthen models through finding functional factors.

  • Empirical equation has been developed by employing the new non-dimensional physical number 'wave action slope' for the estimation of breakwater armor weight. Van der Meer(1987) introduced Iribarren number for the same purpose, but his equation shows very different trend of distribution with the condition of Iribarren number. On the other hand the equation related with wave action slope keeps the same trend of distribution over the whole region. When the parameter is related to the Iribarren number, the equation of wave action slope has a very high accuracy.

  • The partial least squares (PLS) method is popularly used for estimating the structural equation model, but the existing algorithm may not be directly implemented when probabilities are involved in some constructs or manifest variables. We propose a structural equation model including the brand choice as one construct having brand choice probabilities as its manifest variables. Then, we develop a PLS-based algorithm for the structural equation model by utilizing the multinomial logit model. A case is introduced as an application and simulation studies are performed to validate the proposed algorithm.

  • The most important problem in target tracking can be said to be modeling the tracking system correctly. Although the simple linear dynamic equation for this model has used until now, the satisfactory performance could not be obtained owing to uncertainties of the real systems in the case of designing the filters baged on the dynamic equations. In this paper, we propose the extended robust Kalman filter (ERKF) which can be applied to the real target tracking system with the parameter uncertainties. A nonlinear dynamic equation with parameter uncertainties is used to express the uncertain system model mathematically, and a measurement equation is represented by a nonlinear equation to show data from the radar in a Cartesian coordinate frame. To solve the robust nonlinear filtering problem, we derive the extended robust Kalman filter equation using the Krein space approach and sum quadratic constraint. We show the proposed filter has better performance than the existing extended Kalman filter (EKF) via 3-dimensional target tracking example.

  • Estimation of blasting behavior of explosives is prerequisite in the numerical analysis of blasting works. In this study, blasting pressure is estimated by the finite difference method using the Flux-Corrected Transport Algorithm. To formulate the behavior of blasting gas, the mass conservation equation, the moment conservation equation, the energy conservation equation and the ideal gas state equation are used. The simplified species conservation equation is included to simulate the behavior of reacting explosives. To verify the calculation, the Sod's shock tube problem, the strong shock problem and the reacting problem we used. Numerical results show that the shock wave can be captured by means of the FCT algorithm in the reacting and nonreacting states.

  • The efforts of formulation have been reviewed and the results of existing laboratory experiments are investigated in order to describe the contracted flow which occurs at the final closure of sea dike construction. The regional characteristics of contracted flow is analyzed by checking the drawdown curve, and Chezy's mean velocity equation is employed to estimate the discharge rate at the closure. Weir-type discharge equations are reviewed, which are derived from Bernoulli equation, and the problems of the equations are discussed. Chezy's mean velocity equation is considered to be widely and generally applicable, and the empirical factor introduced in Chezy's equation is named 'form drag factor' since it is primarily dependent on the form drag caused by the contraction of discharge area. Laboratory experiments were conducted mainly in order to investigate the variation of form drag factor against various parameters, and an empirical equation is developed for the estimation of form drag factor.

  • This paper describes the peak load forecasting technique of distribution transformers with correlation equation. While customers are demanding safe energy supply, conventional correlation equation that is used for load management of distribution transformers in domestic has some problems. To get accurate correlation equation, se-correlation equation were examined using new collected using the measuring instrument dev for this study. It was recognized that the qua equation was the most accurate for peak forecasting from working electrical energy.

  • In the construction industry, Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) is considered to be the most suitable approach and determining the attribute weights is an important CBR problem. In this paper, a method is proposed for determining attribute weights that are calculated with attribute relation. The basic items of consideration were qualitative and quantitative influence factors. These quantitative factors were related to the qualitative factors to develop a Cost Drivers-structural equation model which can be used to estimate construction cost by considering attribute weight. The process of determining the attribute weight-structural equation model consists o 4 phases: selecting the predominant Cost Drivers for the SEM, applying the Cost Driers in the SEM, determining and verifying the attribute weights and deriving the Cost Estimation Equation. This study develops a cost estimating technique that complements the CBR method with a Cost Drivers-structural equation model which can be actively used during the schematic estimating phases of construction.

  • This paper focuses on estimation of an non-integral quadratic function (NIQF) and integral quadratic function (IQF) of a random signal in dynamic system described by a linear stochastic differential equation. The quadratic form of an unobservable signal indicates useful information of a signal for control. The optimal (in mean square sense) and suboptimal estimates of NIQF and IQF represent a function of the Kalman estimate and its error covariance. The proposed estimation algorithms have a closed-form estimation procedure. The obtained estimates are studied in detail, including derivation of the exact formulas and differential equations for mean square errors. The results we demonstrate on practical example of a power of signal, and comparison analysis between optimal and suboptimal estimators is presented.

  • This paper presents an on-line scheme for parameter estimation of continuous-time systems, based on the model adjustment technique and the genetic algorithm technique. To deal with the initialisation and unmeasurable signal problems in on-line parameter estimation of continuous-time systems, a discrete-time model is obtained for the linear differential equation model and approximations of unmeasurable states with the observable output and its time-delayed values are obtained for the nonlinear state space model. Noisy observations may affect these approximation processes and degrade the estimation performance. A digital prefilter is therefore incorporated to avoid direct approximations of system derivatives from possible noisy observations. The parameters of both the model and the designed filter are adjusted on-line by a genetic algorithm, A set of simulation works for linear and nonlinear systems is carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
