  • In this paper, we propose a new construction algorithm for the reversible variable-length code (RVLC) using a simplified average length function of the optimal Huffman code. RVLC is introduced as one of the error resilience tools in H.263+ and MPEG-4 owing to its error-correcting capability. The proposed algorithm demonstrates an improved performance in terms of the average codeword length over the existing HVLC algorithms.

  • In this Part II of the paper, we evaluated the fabrication error and dividing characteristics for the opticalfilters proposed in the Part I. Furthermore, we propose an integrated optical filter with a new function that can eliminate the fabdrication error. The fabrication method and filtering characteristics have been tested by experiments, thereby confirming the validity of the design theory.

  • We shall derive Bayes estimators for he smaller and larger of two Pareto scale parameters with a common known shape parameter when the order of the scales is unknown and sample sizes are equal under squared error loss function. Also, we shall obtain biases and man squared errors for proposed Bayes estimators, and compare numerically performances for the proposed Bayes estimators.

  • In many areas of finite element analysis, elements with special properties are required to achieve maximal accuracy. As examples, we may mention infinite elements for the representation of spatial domain that extend to special and singular elements for modeling point and line singularities engendered by geomeric features such as reentrant corners and cracks. In this paper, we study on modified shape function representing singular properties and algorigthm for the pollution adaptive mesh generation. We will also show that the modified shape function reduces pollution error and local error.

  • Via extension of the classical double-Newton method, we propose high-order family of two-point methods in this paper. Theoretical and computational properties of the proposed methods are fully investigated along with a main theorem describing methodology and convergence analysis. Typical numerical examples are thoroughly treated to verify the underlying theory.

  • In the sheet metal forming operations, the strain measurement of sheet panel is an essential work which provides the formability information needed in die design, process design, and product inspection. To measure efficiently complex geometry strains, the 3-dimensional automative strain measurement system, which theoretically has a high accuracy but practically has about 3~5% strain error, is often used. For eliminating the strain error resulted in measuring the strains of formed panels using an automated strain measurement system, the position error calibration method is suggested, which computes accurate strains using the grids with accurate nodal coordinates. The accurate nodal coordinates are calculated by adding the nodal coordinates measured by the measurement system and the position error found using the multiple regression method as a function of the main error parameters obtained from the analysis of strain error in a standard cube. For the verification, the strain distributions of square and dome cups obtained from the position error calibration method are compared with those provided by the finite element analysis and ASAME.

  • This paper compare the adaptive equalization performance according to the values of adaptive step variation speed for adapting in VS-CCA (Variable Stepsize-Compact Constellation Algorithm) based on nonlinear function function of error signal. The VS-CCA algorithm compacts the 16-QAM nonconstant modulus signal into the 4 groups of 4-QAM constant modulus signal constellation in quadature plane, then the error signal is generated using the constant modulus of transmitted signal statistics. The adaptive equalizer coefficient were updated in order to achieve the minimum cost function by varying step based on the nonlinear function of error signal. In this time, the instantaneous adaptive step is determined according to the value of step variation speed of nonlinear function and the different equalization performance were obtained according to the step variation speed value. The equalizer internal index and external index which represents the robustness of external noise were used for the performance comparison index. As a result of computer simulation, it was confirmed that the value of variation speed less than 1.0 give more superior in every performance index compared to the greater than 1.0 in steady state.

  • The major faults of CNC machine tool is operational error which is charge over 70%. This paper describes model of remote service and fault diagnosis for CNC machine tool with open architecture controller. For intelligent fault diagnosis, new model is proposed. In this paper, the three major operational faults, emergency stop error, cycle start disable and machine ready disable, are defined. Two diagnostic models based on the ladder diagram, switching function model, step switching function model, are proposed. For internet based remote service, suitable environment is proposed and implemented with web server and client.
