  • This paper deals with the characteristic analysis of permanent magnet linear oscillatory motor (LOM). The back EMF and airgap flux density was calculated by Equivalent Magnetic Circuit (EMC) method, it can be computing times less than the finite element method (FEM). In addition, analysis results obtained by proposed EMC are validated by comparison with those by Finite Element Method.

  • By biasing the gate of cold-HEMT with a voltage slightly lower than the pinch-off point, a new small-signal modeling method that is free from gate degradation problem and requires no additional DC measurement is proposed in this paper. The method has shown excellent agreement between modeled and measured S-parameters up to 62 GHz at 49 different normal operating bias points.

  • This paper presents optimal design of tooth and yoke width for increasing torque density when designing concentrated winding Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) which is used currently. In case of IPM, characteristic of motor chages according to saturation, thus design consib dering saturation should be done. This paper proposed method to decide tooth and yoke width using magnetic equivalent circuit with calculated magnetic resistance. This method provide less effort and time than FEM using optimal design when deciding tooth and yoke width. Proposed method and FEM are compared and verified.

  • For generation and analysis of the multi-sensory image, we propose a new three dimensional (3D) modeling method considering an iternal heat source. We represent the heat conduction process within th object as an equivalent thermal circuit. Therefore, without a complex computation, our modeling approach can obtain thermal features of the object. By using the faceted model, the proposed method can express the accurate visual signatures of the object. Comparing the estimates datum with the obtained surface temperatures, we have demonstrated that the proposed method can provide a precise thermal features. The thermal images by out model is applicable to simulate a tracking loop of an IR missile.

  • In this paper, a new design method to improve efficiency of single-sided linear induction motor(SLIM) is presented. The method utilizes the space harmonic analysis, the equivalent circuit analysis and numerical analysis method. This paper deals with calculation of the design dimension of primary and secondary and the equivalent circuit parameters for SLIM. Finally, analytical results for SLIM designed are verified by FE results.

  • A simple analysis method for inverter-fed induction motor using F.E.M and harmonic equivalent circuit is proposed. And an optimum shape of rotor slot for 2Hp inverter-fed induction motor is determined by combining the proposed analysis method and an optimization algorithm. Conjugate gradient method is used for the optimization algorithm. The optimization is performed for higher efficiency and reduction of harmonic loss in the inverter-fed induction motor. The optimization results are verified by comparing with those of the time-step F.E.A.

  • A simulation method for the direct thrust control of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) using the equivalent circuit is presented. The motor self inductance, the initial flux linkage by the permanent magnet is calculated in advance by the finite element analysis, and then the the direct control simulation is carried out. As a result, thrust, flux and speed responses to the commands are examined and the presented simulation method is proved to be very useful.

  • The detent force caused by the interaction of magnets with the teeth of a armature core deteriorates the driving performance of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor. In this paper, we analyze the fields and forces of a linear synchronous motor with segmented or skewed magnet arrangement according to lateral overhang length of permanent magnets. For the analysis, the 3-dimensional equivalent magnetic circuit network method is used. The detent force and the static thrust are analyzed according to the segmented or skewed angle and the overhang length of permanent magnets, and the optimal angles that the detent force is minimized are found out in each case. The analysis results are compared with the experimental ones and shown a reasonable agreement.

  • This paper analyzes characteristics of PMLSM using 3 dimensional equivalent magnetic circuit network method (3-D EMC). PMLSM of which the effective electric-airgap is not only very large, but also the width is finite width lateral edges has much leakage flux. Therefore, 2-D analysis method cannot consider it so carefully that 3-D analysis method must required. 3-D EMC which will be used for analysis of PMLSM performs modeling of it including solt and teeth structure, uses the magnetic motive force of stator winding and permanent magnet as source. and calculates magnetic flux density and force considering nonlinear characteristics of materials. we verified analysis validity by comparing simulation results with expermental results.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new method which does not need no load test for the characteristics analysis of linear induction motor. A new equivalent circuit of LIM is chosen and a method of determining its constants from results of the lock test is discussed. The calculated results were satisfactorily agreed with experimental results and conventional method.
