  • This paper is devoted to illustrate some numerical procedures to solve the boundary equilibrium problems of three-dimensional solids that are subjected to thermal strains. The constitutive equations take into account the bounded tensile strength of the material and they are presented in the framework of non-linear elasticity and small strains. The associated equilibrium problem is solved numerically by means of the finite element method and the numerical techniques, i.e. the Newton-Raphson method and the secant method, are revised in order to assure the solution convergence of the discretized problem. Some numerical examples are illustrated.

  • We consider the problem of optimizing the performance of a system with resources shared by non-cooperative users. The worst-cast ratio between the cost of a Nash equilibrium and the optimal cost, called Price of Anarchy, is investigated. It measures the performance degradation due to the users' selfish behavior. As the objective function of the optimization problem, we are concerned in a load balancing measure, which is different from that used in the previous works. Also we consider the Stackelberg scheduling which can assign a fraction of the users to resources while the remaining users are free to act in a selfish manner.

  • In this paper, we address the swing up control and the singular problem of an acrobot. We derive a serial system equation from the acceleration constraint that there is no actuator on the first joint. Based on the serial system representation, we propose a swing up and stabilization control algorithm to move the acrobot from its downward equilibrium to its inverted equilibrium position. Simulation result is also provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

  • A numerical method for gas-liquid two-phase flow is applied to solve shock-bubble interaction problems. The present method employs a finite-difference Runge-Kutta method and Roe's flux difference splitting approximation with the MUSCL-TVD scheme. A homogeneous equilibrium cavitation model is used. By this method, a Riemann problem for shock tube was computed for validation. Then, shock-bubble interaction problems between cylindrical bubbles located in the liquid and incident liquid shock wave are computed.

  • We introduce a new iterative algorithm for equilibrium and fixed point problems of three hemi-relatively nonexpansive mappings by the CQ hybrid method in Banach spaces, Our results improve and extend the corresponding results announced by Xiaolong Qin, Yeol Je Cho, Shin Min Kang [Xiaolong Qin, Yeol Je Cho, Shin Min Kang, Convergence theorems of common elements for equilibrium problems and fixed point problems in Banach spaces, Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics 225 (2009) 20-30], P. • This paper presents a method for evaluating the nash equilibrium of the Cournot model for N-Gencos in wholesale electricity market. In wholesale electricity market, the strategies of N-Gencos can be applied to the game model under the conditions, which the Gencos determine their strategies to maximize their benefit. Generally, the Lemke algorithm has known as the approach to evaluate the mixed nash equilibrium in the only two-player game model. In this paper, we have developed the necessary condition for obtaining the mixed nash equilibrium of N-player by using the Lemke algorithms. However, it is difficult to find the mixed nash equilibrium of two more players by using the analytic method since those have the nonlinear characteristics. To overcome the above problem, we have formulated the object function satisfied with the proposed necessary conditions for N-player nash equilibrium and applied the modified particle swarm optimization (PSO) method to obtain the equilibrium for N-player. To present the effectiveness the proposed necessary condition and the evaluation approach, this paper has shown the results of equilibrium of sample system and the cournot game model for 3-players.

  • The conventional studies on equilibrium network design problem(ENDP) with fixed travel demand models assume that the future OD travel demand might not be changed even if the structure and the capacity of the network are improved. But this fixed demand assumption may loose its validity in the long-range network design because OD travel demand actually shifts with the network service level. Thus, it is desirable to involve the variable travel demand which is determined endogenously in the model in the optimal network design. In this paper a hi-level model formulation and solution procedure for ENDP with variable travel demand are presented. Firstly It is considered how to measure the net user benefits to be derived from the improved in link capacities, and the equilibrium network design problem considered here is to maximize the increase of net user benefit which results from a set of lift capacity enhancements within the budget constraints, while the OD travel demands and link travel times are obtained by solving the lower level network equilibrium problem with variable demand. And secondly sensitivity analysis is carried out to find the links to which the network equilibrium flow pattern is the most sensitive. Finally numerical example with simple network is carried out to test the validity of the model.

  • In this paper, a new iterative algorithm involving quasi-nonexpansive mapping in Hilbert space is proposed and proved to be strongly convergent to a point which is simultaneously a fixed point of a quasi-nonexpansive mapping, a solution of an equilibrium problem and the set of solutions of a variational inequality problem. The results of the paper extend previous results, see, for instance, Takahashi and Takahashi (J Math Anal Appl 331:506-515, 2007), P.E.Maing $\acute{e}$ (Computers and Mathematics with Applications, 59: 74-79,2010) and other results in this field.

  • In this paper, we propose a parametric optimization approach to simultaneously determining trip distribution, mode choice, and user-equilibrium assignment. In our model, mode choice decisions are based on a binomial logit model and passenger and cargo demands are divided into appropriate mode according to the user equilibrium minimum travel time. Underlying network consists of road and rail networks combined and mode choice available is auto, bus, truck, passenger rail, and cargo rail. We provide an equivalent convex optimization problem formulation and efficient algorithm for solving this problem. The proposed algorithm was applied to a large scale network examples derived from the National Intermodal Transportation Plan (2000-2019).
