The Effects of Corporate Entrepreneurship on Self-Efficacy and Firm Performance in Small and Medium-sized Firms of Gyeongnam Region (조직 내 기업가정신이 자기효능감과 기업성과에 미치는 영향 -경남지역 중소 제조업체를 대상으로-)

  • The purpose of this study includes: the relationships between corporate entrepreneurship(innovation, proactiveness, risk-taking) and firm performance(non-financial performance, financial performance) and the mediating effect of the self-efficacy on the relationship between corporate entrepreneurship and firm performance. In order to verify the relationships and mediating effect, data were collected from 368 individuals in employees working in small and medium-sized firms at Gyeongnam region to test theoretical model and its hypotheses. All data collected from the survey were analyzed using with SPSS 18.0. This study reports findings as follows: first, the relationship between the corporate entrepreneurship(except innovation) and the employee's self-efficacy is positively related. Second, there was also a positive correlation between the employee's self-efficacy and firm performance. Third, the relationship between the corporate entrepreneurship and the non-financial performance is positively related. The relationship between the corporate entrepreneurship(except innovation) and the financial performance is positively related. Finally, the employee's self-efficacy played as a partial mediator on the relationship between risk-taking and firm performance. The employee's self-efficacy played as a fully mediator on the relationship between proactiveness and non-financial performance. The employee's self-efficacy played as a partial mediator on the relationship between proactiveness and financial performance. However, there was no empirical evidence for the mediating effect of employee's self-efficacy on the relationship innovation and firm performance. Based on these findings, the implications and the limitations of the study were presented including some directions for future studies.

Study on the Determinants for the Type of New Venture Creation in Korea: Franchising or Independent Entrepreneurship (국내 프랜차이즈 창업과 독립 창업 집단의 결정 요인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to find the determinants for the type(Franchising or Independent Entrepreneurship) of new venture creation. This study conducted an empirical analysis on a total of 398 samples of survey gathered from people in Seoul, Gyoeng-gi, Daegu, and Gyeonsangbuk-do. This study includes not only personal traits, but also entrepreneurial intention and network as independent variables. Findings of the analysis reported that Entrepreneurial intention, Need for achievement, Autonomy, Entrepreneurship, Self-efficacy, Education, Network, Age, and Income have significant discriminant power, in order of priority, on general two groups of Franchising and Independent Entrepreneurship. However, in the study, autonomy is revealed as the sole discriminant factor on considering venture creation groups. Based on the result, the study contributes theoretical and practical implications in relation to the determinants for the type of franchising or independent entrepreneurship.

The Effects of Entrepreneurship Education, Individual Environmental Factor and Individual Trait on University Student's Career Decision Self-efficacy (창업교육과 개인적 환경요인 및 개인적 특성이 대학생의 진로결정 자기효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of entrepreneurship education and individual environmental factor on university student's career decision self-efficacy. A total of 346 university students responded to the survey and the data was analyzed using SPSS 18.0. To test the hypotheses of this study, correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted. The results of this study showed that entrepreneurship education, role model, family entrepreneurial experience and career preparation behavior were positively related to career decision self-efficacy. While gender were not positively related to career decision self-efficacy. This study reconfirms the importance and change of recognition of university entrepreneurship education for enhancing decision-making self-efficacy as well as the importance of career preparation behavior, role model and family entrepreneurial experience that have a significant effect on career decision of university students.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the Government's entrepreneurial support policy(educational support, financial support and marketing support) on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intention. This study examined educational support, fund support and marketing support as the The Government's entrepreneurial support polity variables and innovativeness, progressiveness and risk-taking as entrepreneurship variables. The sample of this study was composed of 331 existing and potential entrepreneurs selected from the national panel of a online web survey research firm. Data were collected using self-administerd structured questionnaires and analyzed employing structural equation modelling techniques. This study found that three entrepreneurship variables(innovativeness, progressiveness and risk-taking) had positive direct effects on entrepreneurial intention and that three Government's entrepreneurial support policy variables (educational support, financial support and marketing support) had positive direct effects on entrepreneurship, whereas these three variables had positive indirect effects on entrepreneurial intention. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings were discussed and the directions for future research were suggested.

  • The purposes of this study is to examine the effect of fitness among entrepreneurship, dynamic capabilities and innovation activities on business performance. A survey was conducted and analyzed on small & medium manufacturing companies in Korea with the following result of the study. First, the fitness of entrepreneurship and dynamic capabilities, the fitness of dynamic capabilities and innovation activities, the fitness of entrepreneurship and innovation activities have a significant effect on business performance respectively. Second, the fitness of all the three variables also has a significant positive effect on the performance. Additional path analysis shows that dynamic capabilities and innovation activities have mediating roles between entrepreneurship and business performance. The results imply that not only each of the entrepreneurship, dynamic capabilities, and innovation activities has a positive effect on business performance but also the three factors in harmony have a synergic positive effect on the business performance.

  • One of the main objectives of this paper is to identify the mediating effects of both social and intellectual capitals in the relations between entrepreneurship and innovation performance in Small and Medium Businesses. Based on the previous literatures on their relationships, we set our research model and test our hypotheses through a questionnaire survey. The main results of our analyses are as followings: first, entrepreneurship has a significant effect on innovation performance; second, social capital has a significant mediating effect between entrepreneurship and innovation performance; and finally, there exists a significant mediating effect between intellectual capital and entrepreneurship. One of the main policy implications of this study would be that the level of both social and intellectual capitals, coupled with entrepreneurship, should be reinforced in order to improve innovation performance.

Is a social enterprise academy program correlated with changes in social entrepreneurship? A case study of S social enterprise academy (사회적기업 교육과 사회적기업가 정신과의 상관관계 연구 : S 사회적기업 아카데미를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to examine the extent to which a social enterprise academy program influences social entrepreneurship. This study also examined changes in self-concept, civic consciousness, and welfare attitudes as key covariates of social entrepreneurship. This paper used a case study of a social enterprise academy program which was held for two months in S social enterprise academy in 2012. Survey questionnaire with socio-economic characteristics of participants, social entrepreneurship, self-concept, civic consciousness, and welfare attitudes was developed and implemented at the first and last weeks of the program. In total, 55 respondents participated in the two surveys. Key findings suggest that program participants have no positive changes in social entrepreneurship, self-concept, civic consciousness, and welfare attitudes. In particular, interests in new market as a measure of social entrepreneurship have decreased significantly during the study period. In addition, welfare attitudes have been changed in a negative way. This paper concludes by discussing future directions of social enterprise academy program.

The Effect of Mentor-Menti Suitability on the Will to Start a Business through Mediation (관광산업의 멘토-멘티 적합성의 매개효과를 통해 창업의지에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is aim to explore the key variables that can improve the relationship between mentor-mentee fit and the relationship of mentor-mentee fit as a prerequisite in improving entrepreneurial intention. In addition, the mediating effect of entrepreneurship was verified in the process of mentee-mentor suitability inducing entrepreneurial will. To verify this, a survey was conducted on per-founders and early founders. The results of this study are as follows. First, in relation to the measures to improve the entrepreneurial will, mentor-mentee suitability was verified to have a positive effect on entrepreneurial will through entrepreneurship. Second, it was verified that mentor-mentee fit had a positive effect on the formation of entrepreneurship; third, entrepreneurship could have a direct effect on the intention of entrepreneurship. This study suggests that the more mentor-mentee fits entrepreneurs, the better the level of entrepreneurship. In addition, high level of entrepreneurship can play a role in further promoting the will to start a business.

  • Entrepreneurship is essential in education or courses related to startup. Despite the importance of entrepreneurship, studies on the preceding factors that influence entrepreneurship are insufficient. This study analyzed the relationship between the founder's curiosity and entrepreneurship. In the relationship between curiosity and entrepreneurship, a research model and hypothesis using stress tolerance as a mediation variable was presented and empirically analyzed. As a result of collecting and analyzing data from prospective entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs, it was found that playful inquiry, social curiosity, and pursuit of stimulus had a statistically significant effect on innovation and competition pursuit through stress tolerance. This study is significant in that it analyzed curiosity in multiple dimensions. However, there is a limitation in that the survey is limited to Daegu and Gyeongbuk and the results cannot be generalized.

Development of Index about the sixth Industrial Entrepreneurship (6차산업 기업가정신 지표개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop index about the sixth industrial entrepreneurs to establish the spirit and measuring the sixth industrial entrepreneurship for groups successfully led to the sixth industry of agriculture, which is actively being conducted in recent years aimed at rural stimulate the economy. Enlighten the value of rural resources, production, processing, in a sixth industry establishment that has a characteristic of fusion distribution and tourism in addition to the elements of the entrepreneurship that has been emphasized in the traditional establishment, the more diverse entrepreneurship element has been requested. In this study, to derive the traditional entrepreneurship of the components and the sixth industry entrepreneurship component through literature research, through interviews with experts of the sixth industry, an important element of the entrepreneurship that is required in the field It was derived. Based on the derived results, set the index of the sixth industry entrepreneurship, it was conducted a questionnaire survey of sixth industry workers. Through analysis of the navigation factors, to evaluate the measurement and indicators of relevance, factors that have been set through the results literature study and interviews of exploratory factor analysis it was found that has been rationally constructed. The results of this study, education and consulting for the activation of the sixth industry, would be able to take advantage of, such as in the planning of education programs for whom decide to go back to the countryside(Agro migration). In addition, to diagnose the entrepreneurship of a conventional sixth industry progress mainly, it is expected to be able to help you to proceed with the custom capability development that meets the individual needs.
