The continuous composite I-girder should have a sufficient rotation capacity (or ductility) to redistribute the negative bending moment into an adjacent positive bending moment region. However, it is generally known that the ductility of the high strength steel is smaller than that of conventional steel, and application of high strength steel can cause ductility problems in a negative moment region of the I-girder. In this study, moment redistribution of the continuous composite I-girder with high strength steel was studied, where high strength steel with yield stress of 690 MPa was considered (the ultimate stress of the steel was 800 MPa). The available and required rotation capacity of the continuous composite I-girder with high strength steel was firstly derived based on the stress-strain curve of high strength steel and plastic analysis, respectively. A large scale test and a series of non-linear finite element analysis for the continuous composite I-girder with high strength steel were then conducted to examine the effectiveness of proposed models and to investigate the effect of high strength steel on the inelastic behavior of the negative bending moment region of the continuous composite I-girder with high strength steel. Finally, it can be found that the proposed equations provided good estimation of the requited and available rotation capacity of the continuous composite I-girder with high strength steel.
This paper presents experimental results on bond-slip behavior of steel reinforced high-strength concrete (SRHC) after exposure to elevated temperatures. Three parameters were considered in this test: (a) high temperatures (i.e., 20℃, 200℃, 400℃, 600℃, 800℃); (b) concrete strength (i.e., C60, C70, C80); (c) anchorage length (i.e., 250 mm, 400 mm). A total of 17 SRHC specimens subjected to high temperatures were designed for push out test. The load-slip curves at the loading end and free end were obtained, the influence of various variation parameters on the ultimate bond strength and residual bond strength was analyzed, in addition, the influence of elevated temperatures on the invalidation mechanism was researched in details. Test results show that the shapes of load-slip curves at loading ends and free ends are similar. The ultimate bond strength and residual bond strength of SRHC decrease first and then recover partly with the temperature increasing. The bond strength is proportional to the concrete strength, and the bond strength is proportional to the anchoring length when the temperature is low, while the opposite situation occurs when the temperature is high. What's more, the bond damage of specimens with lower temperature develops earlier and faster than the specimens with higher temperature. From these experimental findings, the bond-slip constitutive formula of SRHC subjected to elevated temperatures is proposed, which fills well with test data.
Hand grip strength has been utilized as an indicator to evaluate the motor ability of hands, responsible for performing multiple body functions. It is however difficult to evaluate other factors (other than hand muscular strength) utilizing the hand grip strength only. The purpose of this study was analyzed the motor ability of hands using EMG and the hand grip strength, simultaneously in order to evaluate concentration, muscular strength reaction time, instantaneous muscular strength change, and agility in response to visual reaction. In results, the average time (and their standard deviations) of muscular strength reaction EMG signal and hand grip strength was found to be $209.6{\pm}56.2$ ms and $354.3{\pm}54.6$ ms, respectively. In addition, the onset time which represents acceleration time to reach 90% of maximum hand grip strength, was $382.9{\pm}129.9$ ms. Results in visual reaction (on) indicate the differences in muscular strength agility and concentration of participants in regards to visual reaction.

Many studies have been performed on steel fiber-reinforced normal/high-strength concrete (SFRC, SFRHC) for years, which is to improve some of the weak material properties of concrete. Most of equations for material strengths of SFRHC, however, were proposed based on relatively limited test results. In this research, therefore, the material test results of SFR(H)C were extensively collected from literature, and material tests have conducted on SFR(H)C; compressive strength tests, splitting tensile tests, and modulus of rupture tests. Based on the extensive test data obtained from previous studies and this research, a database of SFR(H)C material strengths has been established, and improved equations for material strengths of SFR(H)C were also proposed. Test results showed that both the splitting tensile strength and the modulus of rupture of SFR(H)C increased as the volume fraction of steel fiber increased, while the effect of the steel fiber volume fraction on the compressive strength of SFR(H)C were not clearly observed. The proposed equations for the splitting tensile strength and the modulus of rupture of SFR(H)C showed better results than the previous equations examined in this study in terms of not only accuracy but also safety/reliability.
The purpose of this experimental research is to evaluate the workability and strength properties of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete containing amorphous steel fiber and organic fiber. For this purpose, the hybrid fiber reinforced concrete containing amorphous steel fiber(ASF) with polyamide(PA) and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) fiber, respectively were made according to their total volume fraction of 0.5% for water-binder ratio of 33%, and then the characteristics such as the workability, compressive strength, and flexural strength of those were investigated. It was observed from the test results that the workability and compressive strength at 7 and 28 days were decreased and the flexural strength at 7 and 28 days was increased with increasing ASF and decreasing organic fiber.

The recent trend is increasing towards the usage of polymer matrix composites since they have a wide variety of applications. They have applications in the field of aircraft and space industry, sporting goods, medical devices, marine and automotive applications and also in commercial usage. The most commonly used fibre-reinforced polymer matrix composite is Glass fibre reinforced epoxy (GFRE) composite which is used in aviation, sports and automotive industries. However, the strength of GFRE composites is not adequate for structural applications. Therefore, the current research focuses on increasing the strength of GFRE composites by reinforcing with micro Graphite (Gr) particulates. The Gr used is an ultra-fine powder with particle size 250 ㎛. Gr is known to have good wear resistance, thermal conductivity and can operate at high temperatures. Gr particulates are mixed with the epoxy matrix in various weight ratios. Hand-lay technique is used for fabricating the composites. Mechanical properties such as tensile strength, elongation, compressive strength and flexural strength are obtained experimentally to study the effect of change in Gr content (0-5 wt. %). The tests were done as per ASTM standards.
The use of geosynthetics for the reinforced earth wall system has been increasing rapidly for a number of years. The connection strength between wall facing and geosynthetics should be evaluated in the design of geosynthetics. However, the connection strength is not often evaluate, exactly, and it causes problems such as deformation of the wall facing, local failure of the reinforced earth wall system, conservative design and so on. Therefore, the connection strength in the design of geosynthetics should be applied evaluation result by reasonable method. This study is evaluated connection strength using the typical design method, NCMA(1997) and FHWA(1996), in the field case. Then the results compared with the evaluation results of connection strength, which is suggested by Soong & Koener(1997). The analysis results confirmed that the connection strength for the design of geosynthetics should be evaluate using reasonable method with considering various factor, such as safety factor, installation and importance of construction.

Asbestos-cement is a material with valuable strength and durability. It was extensively used for water distribution pipes across the world from the 1950s until the early 1980s. The network of pipes in this case study dates from the 1970s, and after more than 30 to 40 years of service, some pipes have been found to break under common service pressure with no apparent reason. A set of mechanical tests was performed including bending, compression, pressure and crushing tests. Microscopy analysis was also used to understand the material behaviour. Tests showed that there was a clear loss of strength in the pipes and that the safety factor was under the established threshold in most of the specimens. Microscopy results showed morphological damage to the pipes. The loss of strength was attributed to a leaching effect. Leaching damages the cement matrix and reduces the frictional interfacial shear stress.
The resistance spot welding of high strength steel degrades the weldability because of its high strength with rich chemical composition and coating layer to protect from corrosion. And the weld Expulsion is prone to occur and severely affect the nugget guality when the initial gap between automatic borrowing galvanied steel sheets(SGARC35) and Zn-coateel trip steels(GA580TRIP and GA980 TRIP) exist in resistance spot welding(RSW). RSW is one of the most popular welding processes used to join sheet metals. but weld guality sometimes do creases due to welding condition. in this paper to verity tue weldability using spot welding with the hemispherically concaved electrode, tensile shear strength and cross-tensile strength were measured by a universal test machine. in addition, the nugget size on cross-sectional area of the weld was observed by optical and electron microscopy. As a result, the nugget size of this specimen is increased with increasing welding current and Max load of tensile-shear strength is increased with welding current is increasing.
The quality control for DCM is based on the unconfined compressive strength of laboratory treated soils, the cement contents, setting and checking the strength of in-situ treated soils. Also the strength of in-situ is checked mainly by the core boring. In case of large size construction, it might be considered the distribution of DCM strength data as normal distribution, so it might be employed a statistical method to evaluate DCM strength easily. In Japan, it has been established correlation between the strength of laboratory treated soils, the strength of in-suit treated soil and the design strength. Also It has been employed domestically the correlation suggested by Japan. But the correlation, so called $\lambda$(ratio in the strength of laboratory treated soils and the in-suit) and $\gamma$(ratio in the strength of in-suit and the design strength), might be far different with the domestic due to different DCM system and soil properties. so it might be restrictive to use domestically. Therefore in this paper, It is presented correlation between the strength of laboratory treated soils and in-suit treated soil to be employed domestically by evaluating $\lambda$ based on the domestic in-suit illustrations.
