A Dokdo wind resource map has been drawn up for the Green Island Energy Master Plan according to Korea's national vision for 'Low Carbon Green Growth'. The micro-siting software WindSim v5.1,which is based on Computational Flow Analysis, is used with MERRA reanalysis data as synoptic climatology input data, and sensitivity analysis on turbulence model is accompanied. A wind resource assessment has been conducted for the Dokdo wind power dissemination plan, which consists of two 10kW wind turbines to be installed at the Dongdo dock and Dokdo guard building. It is evaluated that the capacity factors at Dongdo dock and Dokdo guard building are about 20% and 30% respectively, and annual and hourly variations of wind power generation have been analyzed, but summertime energy production is predicted to be only 40% of wintertime energy production.
The geothermal energy is one of the renewable energy sources which can contribute in accomplishing a vision and goal of the national plan on energy for a government suggestion. Especially, the geothermal energy is evaluated as the nearly unlimited resources. The yearly underground temperature distribution by depth is very important to the design of air-conditioning system which uses a geothermal energy. Furthermore, there has no data for comparisons to numerical analysis. In this study, the yearly underground temperature is measured under the depth of 2 m in Tongyeong, and these data are compared with numerical analysis results for checking the accuracy. The results showed that the experimental temperature and numerical results had a good agreements and these results will be utilized to predict a performance of air-conditioning system for using a geothermal energy.
A parabolic dish concentrator used in a high temperature application of solar energy tracks the sun's movement by two axis sun tracking system. In such a system, sun tracking performance affects the system efficiency directly. Generally the higher the tracking accuracy is, the better the system performance is. A large number of parabolic dish type concentrators has been developed and implemented in the world. However none of them clearly provided a qualitative method of how the accuracy of the sun tracking system can be evaluated. The work presented here is the evaluation of sun tracking performance of parabolic dish concentrator, which follows the sun's movement by the sensor, using a computer vision system. We install a camera on the parabolic dish concentrator. While the concentrator follows the sun, sun's images are captured continuously. Then the performance of sun tracking system was evaluated by analyzing the variation of the position of the sun in the captured images.

The Government declared 'Low-Carbon Green Growth' as the new national vision for future development to improve economic growth and quality of life through higher energy efficiency, less energy consumption, wider use of renewable energy, etc. Korea can no longer delay participating in international efforts against global warming by reducing carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions. Thus low-carbon green growth is not a matter of choice, and it becomes indispensible to sustaining the nation's economic development. The Government is determined to take the initiative in speeding up economic recovery by carrying out the large scale investment projects such as the Korean version of a 'Green New Deal. The 49 trillion-won projects include river improvement, eco-friendly transportation networks, advanced information infrastructure, water resources & dam construction, green cars & clean energy development, etc. which will create nearly one million new jobs over the next four years.

This paper presents an automated computer vision-based system to update BIM data by leveraging multi-modal visual data collected from existing buildings under inspection. Currently, visual inspections are conducted for building envelopes or mechanical systems, and auditors analyze energy-related contextual information to examine if their performance is maintained as expected by the design. By translating 3D surface thermal profiles into energy performance metrics such as actual R-values at point-level and by mapping such properties to the associated BIM elements using XML Document Object Model (DOM), the proposed method shortens the energy performance modeling gap between the architectural information in the as-designed BIM and the as-is building condition, which improve the reliability of building energy analysis. Several case studies were conducted to experimentally evaluate their impact on BIM-based energy analysis to calculate energy load. The experimental results on existing buildings show that (1) the point-level thermography-based thermal resistance measurement can be automatically matched with the associated BIM elements; and (2) their corresponding thermal properties are automatically updated in gbXML schema. This paper provides practitioners with insight to uncover the fundamentals of how multi-modal visual data can be used to improve the accuracy of building energy modeling for retrofit analysis. Open research challenges and lessons learned from real-world case studies are discussed in detail.
This study is to establish a national vision of the hydrogen economy and design a roadmap to materialize it. A goal is set to supply 15% of final energy consumption with hydrogen energy in Korea by 2040. Selecting the transportation sorter as the main target, more than 50% of vehicles on the road will be replaced with fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) while $20{\sim}30%$ of electricity demand in the residential and commercial sectors might be replaced with power generation by fuel cells. If this goals were attained as planned, primary energy demand would be reduced by 9%, resulting in improved energy mix in which fossil fuel consumption is greatly reduced whereas renewable energy increases by 47%. Furthermore, GHG emissions will be reduced by 20% and self-sufficiency in energy is enhanced up to 23%. If the hydrogen economy is to materialize, the government needs to implement institutional arrangements such as new legislations, organizations, and fiscal measures to facilitate the process. In addition, the private sector's participation is highly recommended to mobilize fund needed for the huge investment to build an infrastructure in preparation for the hydrogen economy. Arrangements for codes and standards are also required to promote industrialization of fuel cells and hydrogen production and consumption.
In this paper, we proposed the object-tracking algorithm that recognizes and estimates the any shaped and size objects using vision system. For the extraction of the object from the background of the acquired images, spatio-temporal filter and signature parsing algorithm are used. Specially, for the solution of correspondence problem of the multiple objects tracking, we compute snake energy and position information of the target objects. Through the real-time tracking experiment, we verified the effectiveness of the suggested tracking algorithm.

This paper examines the efficiency of the application of conventional and insulated gang forms for curing and protection of concrete by comparing the amount of electric energy required therefor. In addition, a thermal vision camera was used to identify heat loss from surfaces of the gang forms after each placement of concrete. Experimental results, show that the heat loss at the submerged temperature was large at the submerged surface due to the large calorific value at the surface of the mold. The insulated gang form had some heat loss in the horizontal bars. In the case of adiabatic reforming, the pattern shows a constant calorific value over time. In conclusion, the insulation performance is better than that of general gang form.
This study uses silicone monomer, DMA, crosslinking agent EGDMA, and initiator AIBN as a basic combination to prepare hydrogel lenses using fluorine-based perfluoro polyether and iron oxide and zinc oxide nanoparticles as additives. After manufacturing the lens using iron oxide nanoparticles and zinc oxide nanoparticles, the optical, physical properties, and polymerization stability are evaluated to investigate the possibility of application as a functional hydrogel lens material. As a result of this experiment, it is found that the addition of the wetting material containing fluorine changes the surface energy of the produced hydrogel lens, thereby improving the wettability. Also, the addition of iron oxide and zinc oxide nanoparticles satisfies the basic hydrogel ophthalmic lens properties and slightly increases the UV blocking performance; it also increases the tensile strength by improving the durability of the hydrogel lens. The polymerization stability of the nanoparticles evaluated through the eluate test is found to be excellent. Therefore, it is judged that these materials can be used in various conditions as high functional hydrogel lens material.
