In order to seek employment in various major fields of the S/W and H/W, firstly, this paper proposes the educational case study that increases the concern about employment and develops learner's ability in the unfavorable major fields. Secondly, this paper presents the future driving improvement for the employment rate on the basis of the department's special characteristics and the actual circumstances in the fields of the S/W and H/W. This paper conducts the surveys of each 40 seniors majoring in S/W and H/W respectively in order to measure the understanding of probability/statistics which has been used as tools in the unfavorable major fields. With the purpose of increasement on the employment rate, the paper is designed to have 3 steps, that is, a preliminary questionnaire for employment preference, major courses connecting probability/statistics and a post-questionnaire for employment preference, which eventually investigates the changes of the perception on employment. This paper is verified by the multiple regression analysis to approve the effect on improving learner's academic achievement.
Traffic congestion has become severe in large metropolitan areas by the travel behavior of employees as the low rate of vehicle occupancy and the high rate of Private auto using. In order to relieve traffic congestion, central and local government plan to implement diverse transportation demand management strategies. The governments want to know what employment types and locations in different metropolitan areas lead to the highest rate of vehicle occupancy and Private auto use. This study suggest that in large metropolitan areas, the employment locations of urban and suburban as well as the employment type of service show low vehicle occupancy. In medium metropolitan sizes. low vehicle occupancies are observed in service employment as well as in the employment locations of CBD. CBD fringe. In small metropolitan areas, a low rate of vehicle occupancy exists in service employment as well as in the employment locations of urban and suburban areas. A high rate of auto use shows not only in basic employment but also in the employment locations of CBD and CBD fringe.
This study analyzed the determinants that affect employment retention rate in order to diagnose dynamic employment stability in Korea. For this analysis, we constructed multi-level hierarchical data linking Workplace panel survey data and employment insurance job history data. And the determinants were analyzed using a multi-level analysis model suitable for these data. As result of the analysis, it is estimated that the employment stability is very low in Korea due to the widespread existence of the marginal sectors with low wage level and high level of nonstandard employment. In addition, the results of this analysis show that employment structure of Korea occupies considerable area of short-term employment where employment and unemployment are repeated, and overall employment stability is weak. This fact is likely to be a limiting factor for continued growth, as there is limited opportunity for skill development and skills formation at the corporate and individual levels. According to the results of this analysis, it is required to improve the quality of the employment structure for continuous growth and skill formation.

This study aimed to examine the impact of academic background on full-time employment and on other important issues concerning job security and care faced by single-parent youths. The study alse aimed to verify the effect of related support on full-time employment. The analysis targeted 262 single parents under 24 years of age who were raising their children, and the main results were as follows: First, the ratio of adulthood was high for those who were employed, and the academic achievement of full-time workers was also significantly high. However, the rate of discontinuities in school was also high among those who were employed, especially those seeking full-time employment, whose desire to stay in school was higher than that of other difficulties of single, teenage parents. Second, the vocational education experience of single, teenage parents was 32 percent overall, and the rate of those seeking full-time employment was also relatively high, reaching 44 percent. However, the results of this study did not verify the direct effect of vocational education experience on full-time employment nor the interaction effect of the academic background. Therefore, a thorough review of the effectiveness of a vocational education program for young, single parents wishing to gain employment is necessary. Third, the overall rate of those who received a public nanny service was 31 percent, while the rate of full-time workers who experienced this service was significantly higher reaching 59 percent. In the research model verification, single parents who received a public nanny service were 3.8 times more likely to get a full-time job than those who did not, and receiving a public nanny service showed a regulatory effect between academic studies and full-time employment. The higher the academic level of the parents, the higher their possibility of full-time employment.

This study presents a descriptive statistical analysis on grade characteristics and employment rates of three ocean-related departments at a university. The ocean-related departments belong to the same college along with the other six departments. To obtain the correlation between the grade characteristics and employment rates, we carried out the followings. Firstly, four-year employment rates and six-semester GPAs (grade point averages) were obtained from the nine departments. Secondly, the box-and-whisker plots were constructed for each data set to capture the grade characteristics (mean, the first quartile, median, third quartile, whisker+, and Q3 box). Finally, the grade characteristics and employment rates were correlated. It is shown from the correlation analysis that the employment rate has a positive linear relation with the mean or third quartile, while the rate has a negative linear relation with the whisker+ or Q3 box, for the ocean-related departments possibly because these departments have higher regular employment rates than those of the other six departments.
This study investigated the effect of engineering education accreditation on employment rate at the University of Seoul. The graduates who had been educated in the accredited program showed higher grade point average (GPA) and higher employment rate (89.0%) than the graduates who had been educated in the program without the accreditation (70.9%). The employment rate of all graduates increased with increasing GPA, the mathematics-science-computer (MSC) credit acquired, design credit acquired, and the number of interviews with supervising professors. Theses results showed that the MSC and design subjects and the counselling are at least beneficial in getting a job for students at the University of Seoul. When GPA, design credit acquired, and the number of counselling are the same, graduates with the engineering education accreditation showed much higher employment rate than the graduates without the accreditation. These preliminary results suggest that the engineering education programs with accreditation at the University of Seoul are beneficial for students in getting a gob through motivating them to acquire more credits in design subjects, doing greater number of counselling with supervising professors, and making better academic achievement. In addition, the engineering education accreditation at the University of Seoul helped students developing their personal skills such as team workability, communication skills, and creativity via carrying out design subjects, which may affect the employment rate indirectly.

This article investigates the impact of SMEs' R&D expenditure, government R&D funding, the number of funded by Government R&D programs on the employment growth rate. This study also explores whether government R&D funding and the number of funded by Government R&D programs have interaction effects between SMEs' R&D expenditures and the employment growth rate. The results show that SMEs' R&D expenditure and government R&D funding have a positive effect on the employment growth rate. The rest of variables have no significant direct effects on the employment growth rate. The government R&D funding has a interaction effect between SMEs' R&D expenditures and the employment growth rate. Especially, the firm group of high-level innovation capabilities has a positive effect on the employment growth rate. The results explain that the government R&D funding influences SMEs' employment positively and the impact of the government R&D funding on employment is more effective in the firm group of high-level innovation capabilities. Therefore, Government provides differentiation strategy of R&D funding by innovation capabilities of SMEs and can maximize the employment.
According to the role model effect, gender of faculty plays an important role in students' employment. This paper investigates the effect of female faculties on female college students' employment in Korea. The fixed effect estimation results show that the percentage of female faculty has no statistically significant effect on female students' employment rate, although the 1%p increase of female faculty appears to be related with the employment rate of female students by 0.102%p in estimation using pooled OLS estimation. We have the almost same results even with dividing female students by major fields. These results can be interpreted the students' employment rate may be influenced by many other factors, such as personal characteristics, abilities, and family background besides faculty gender. We find that there is no empirical evidence of statistically significant effect of the faculty gender on the employment rate of female students.
Youth employment academy program focuses on resolving the job mismatch of youth unemployment through industry oriented human resource development for which company oriented capacity building program for graduate-to-be and graduate is supported. One of the major characteristics of this program is to use the M-to-M model with common skills for companies of same type of business. The operation organization in youth employment academy is supposed to be evaluated by the final employment rate after 1 year and 6 months since start of the program. So performance indicator for the operation organization was developed which means a kind of mid-term evaluation. In this research, the validity of the performance indicator is discussed. The correlations between the performance indicator and the performance evaluation, between the performance evaluation and the final employment rate, and between the performance indicator and the final employment rate are analyzed.
