  • The purpose of the paper is to examine sidedness effects of comparative advertising and moderating roles of the emotions of customer and product type. To test the research hypotheses, this study conducted experimental designs. One hundred ninety-two undergraduate students were assigned to one of the four experimental groups. Comparative Advertising message type and product type were manipulated as between-subject factors. There was a surprising event situation(free gift event) when participants came to laboratory for experiment, which is for the emotion manipulation. If a participant in a positive emotion group, he or she gets a free gift. The data demonstrate that comparative message type have a significant effect on both attitude toward the advertising and acceptance intention. In addition, consumers' emotion and product type play a significant moderating role between the message types and the dependent variables. The results of this study contribute to the literature as a new attempt to examine the sidedness effect of the comparative advertising message. We suggested that message types and consumer's emotion is one of very important aspects for a comparative advertising and marketers should consider people's emotion when they release a comparative advertising, which can help when marketers make their strategy for a comparative advertising.

  • The interaction of emotion is an important factor in Human-Robot Interaction(HRI). This requires a contextual appraisal of emotion extracting the emotional information according to the events happened from past to present. In this paper an emotion appraisal system based on the cognitive context is presented. Firstly, a conventional emotion appraisal model is simplified to model a contextual emotion appraisal which defines the types of emotion appraisal, the target of the emotion induced from analyzing emotional verbs, and the transition of emotions in the context. We employ a language based cognitive system and its sentential memory and object descriptor to define the type and target of emotion and to evaluate the emotion varying with the process of time with the a priori emotional evaluation of targets. In a experimentation, we simulate the proposed emotion appraisal system with a scenario and show the feasibility of the system to HRI.

  • Korean constitutional type(Sasang Chejil) was considered with anxiety level and personality type in order variability frequently encountered in EEG research. Sasang Chejil type seems a very important factor to be controled to minimize the variabilty since Sasang Cheji subgroups showed distinct differences in EEG relative power ao more recording sites and frequency bands than the subgroups of anxiety level and personality type, well-reconized variability-contribution factors. It is likely that Tae-Eum Chejil type is predispositioned to be more relaxed and feel happier and less unhappy than So-Yang type since the former showed greater alpha relative powers and left-hemisphere activations at both of the resting and emotional states.

Through this paper, it was discovered similarities emotion to be used in online games. It is expected to generalize the emotion in the game by analyzing the emotional structure of more games in future.

  • This paper is a basic study for making a system that can predict the success and failure of entertainment contents at the initial stage of production. It proposes the user's emotion modeling of dynamic narrative on entertainment contents. To make this possible, 1) dynamic narrative emotion model is proposed based on theoretical research of narrative structure and cognitive emotion model. 2) configuring the emotion types and emotion value, proposed model of three emotion parameter(desire, expectation, emotion type) are derived. 3)To measure user's emotion in each story event of dynamic narrative, cognitive behavior and description of user(film, game) is established. The earlier studies on the user research of conceptual, analytic approach is aimed of predicting on review of the media and user's attitude, and consequently these results is delineated purely descriptive. In contrast, this paper is proposed the method of user's emotion modeling on dynamic narrative. It would be able to contributed to the emotional evaluation of entertainment contents using specific information.

  • It seems that most of the studies so far on emotion has focussed on the static view of the emotion. That is, they have mainly discussed about how to design the shape of the system in favor of human's inherant emotion. In this paper, the dynamic view of the :emotion based on the behaviors of the system is studied. We suggested a model(called PE model) for dealing emotion. The system based on PE model consists of potential modules each of which is autonomous, selfish and rational enough. The global goal of the system is obtained by allowing influential power among potential modules. We could show that a system in dynamic environment may have some type of its own emotion by using PE model.

For that, personality traits such as sociability, stability and stress coping behaviors and the effects were investigated. In addition, cognitive aspects which were known to influence stress coping behaviors were appraised. The findings of this research are as follows, First, regarding personality traits and stress coping behaviors, the unstable and unsocial group used the emotion-focused coping style more than the stable and social group. The two groups didn't show any significant differences in the problem-focused coping style. The A-type group used both the problem-focused style and the emotion-focused style more than the B-type group. The common characteristic of the unstable, the unsociable and the A-type groups was the heavy use of avoidance behaviors of the emotion-focused coping style. Second, In the correlation between the personal traits and the stress coping effects regarding adaptability, the stability influenced stress coping effects. Third, regarding the personality traits, the coping styles and the coping effects, A-type group showed high correlation with the sociability but not with the stability. The problem-focused coping style showed high correlation with the emotion-focused style. Fourth, the cognitive appraisal on the stress causes influenced the stress coping styles but not the stress coping effects. Fifth, the cognitive appraisal on the same stress causes didn't show any significant differences among the personality traits.
