  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine psychosocial factors influencing suicidal ideation of community dwelling elderly, using the senior community center in Jeonnam Province. Methods : A total of 2,202 subjects (369 males, 1,833 females) were recruited. We evaluated sociodemographic factors, using a self-reporting questionnaire. Subjects completed the Geriatric Depression Scale-Short Form Korean Version (SGDS), Multi-dimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), Korean version of the General Health Questionale-12 (GHQ-12) and Satisfaction with Life scale (SWLS), to assess psychosocial factors affecting suicidal ideation. Results : Among 2,202 subjects, 179 (8.1%) reported recent suicidal ideation. Self-perceptive health status (p<0.001) and physical disease (p=0.002) revealed differences between two groups. The scores of four scales in the suicidal group were significantly different from the control group: SGDS (p<0.001) and GHQ-12 (p<0.001) were higher, while MSPSS (p<0.001) and SWLS (p<0.001) were lower, in the suicidal ideation group than the control group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that physical disease (OR 2.575, 95%CI 1.022-6.492), SGDS (OR 1.181, 95%CI 1.120-1.246) and GHQ-12 (OR 1.192, 95%CI 1.108-1.283), were significantly associated with suicidal ideation. Conclusion : Findings support that physical disease, depression, and general mental health may correlate to suicidal ideation in the elderly.

  • Objectives : Despite the lack of domestic research, eating alone has been reported to be related to depression. We investigated correlation between eating alone, and depression, among women age 65 and older. Methods : Among women registered in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data, 1,119 elderly in 2014, and 1,189 in 2016, were analyzed. Eating alone and the degree of depression were assessed, using a questionnaire and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 respectively. The relationship between eating alone and depression, was analyzed using multilevel logistic regression. Results : In 2014 data, eating alone had significant effect on depression, as the explanatory power is increased to 30.4% in a 'three meals eating alone a day' group (${\beta}=0.128$, p<0.05), when the eating alone parameter is added to demographic factors and health characteristics. In 2016, exploitation of 'the frequency of eating alone' variable led to increment of explanatory power to 22.3%, that was not statistically significant. Conclusion : The result of this study suggests that eating alone among women age 65 and older, was a risk factor of depression in 2014, and is becoming a new life pattern as a social and cultural phenomenon in 2016.

  • Melodrama emerged as a form of the moral in the early modern age. As an approach 'the moral' not only means that rewarding virtue and punishing vice, but also refer to a principle of spiritual life and a way of life. -Melodrama theatricalizes a new vision of human life and society through a new type of the virtuous protagonist and sentiment/-ality. -This allows melodrama to be a dominant cultural form in this modern age, beyond the borders of the theater, mass-media, and literature. Virtue and sentiment/-ality are the core elements of melodrama, which differentiate it from tragedy and comedy especially in the structure and effect of the drama. Actually virtue and sentiment/-ality have been a main target of criticism. Virtue has been regarded as a trite quality of the stereotypical protagonist, and sentiment/-ality as a banal emotion which paralyzes an audience's recognition of reality. -However, this thesis regards both virtue and sentiment/-ality as vehicles for showing and sharing the morals of the modern age. First, the virtues of the protagonist included the general and universal ones of the bourgeois -at that times, the bourgeois represented themselves as a human being- such as the responsibility and obedience of a father, a mother, a wife, a husband, a daughter and a son. They also included the professional ethics such as courage, honesty, and justice and so on. The fall or salvation of the protagonist is largely determined by his/her private individual virtue. Second, sentiment/ality is a theatrical device that makes the audience internalize the protagonist's virtue. The protagonist expresses his/her universal virtue sentimentally, and the audience also expresses their virtue by sympathizing with the protagonist's virtue sentimentally. However, the melodramatic protagonist as an individual, is not connected with society, but remains isolated. As a result, s/he has no influence on the society, where s/he can only ends her/his play alone with a happy-ending. S/he is happy alone, or at best happy with his/her own family. On the contrary to this, tragic protagonist usually fixes social disorder through his/her fall. In that sense, we can say that melodrama presents only the half of the human life.

  • How future generations perceive coexistence with intelligent robots is an important element of how SW and artificial intelligence education should be designed and conducted. This study conducted a survey of 214 first graders in middle school and looked at differences in understanding and perception of coexistence through empathy and expected problem situations depending on the type of intelligent robot. As a result of the analysis, Firstly, if the form was not explicit, it was recognized as a top-down relationship, and Second, in the case of human form, it was ready to recognize intelligent robots and communicate with them. Third, Many people were feeling Emotion in the Robot shape AI. Fourth, there was a vague sense of uneasiness about simple mechanical robots. The study is meaningful as a case study to confirm awareness of intelligent robots and needs to consider and establish awareness of whether they can coexist and live together with robots by age group as well as middle school students.

  • In this study, based on the general reasoning that the higher the resolution of the HMD, the greater the presence and immersion of the audience and the greater the presence experience, the difference in the presence experience according to the resolution of the virtual reality device is verified empirically Presence effect. To do this, 300 college students were included in the population, and VR simulations of the Oculus store were conducted using HMD and mobile devices with different resolutions (HD, FHD, WQHD) as stimuli. As a result, there was a significant difference in the presence experience of the audience according to the resolution of the mobile device attached to the virtual reality HMD, and the presence effect had a significant influence on the awakening. On the other hand, no significant influence was found in the effect of emotion. Therefore, we can prove a general reasoning hypothesis that the higher the resolution of the virtual reality device, the greater the presence experience of the audience. However, since the confounding effect and the impression are contradictory in the presence effect side, additional experiments research is required.

For the purposes, the texts about Vietnam in Naver Blog and Twitter and the number of search and click for Vietnam in Naver were analyzed by Social Metrics of Daum Soft and Datalab of Naver. The study also analyzed the annual change of their interest in Vietnam based on social media. The results showed that Koreans still remember the Vietnam war, have a positive emotion toward Vietnam, and view Vietnam as a country where we can gain mutual benefit by exchange. The findings also indicated that Koreans perceive Vietnam as a favorite tourist spot regardless of age. Meanwhile, children under 12 showed a different pattern of an annual change in perception. It might be a positive sign that Koreans' interest region toward Vietnam would be diversified because children under 12 would be the central axis of cultural contents.
