모형 가스터빈 연소기에서의 스월수와 혼합길이에 따른 화염구조와 NOx배출에 관한 실험적 연구 (The Study on Flame Structure and NOx Emissions by Swirl Numbers and Fuel-Air Mixing Length in a Dump Combustor Gas Turbine)

  • The experimental study was performed to investigate the effects of partial premixing, varying the equivalence ratio, mixing degree, swirl intensity, mixing length on the characteristics of flame structure and NOx emission. Experiments were conducted in a dump combustor at 1 bar using methane as fuel. Inlet air temperature was 570K. OH chemiluminescence images were acquired with an ICCD camera. As a result of the experimental investigation of characteristics of flame and NOx emission in partial premixed combustor, we can conclude the results as below. With the increase of swirl number, The flame length decreases and the flame width increases and it helps flame stabilization. It means that lean flammability limit is extended. With the increase of mixing of fuel-air length ratio, Flame goes to be stabilized and NOx emission and $OH^{\ast}$ intensity decrease. Through the comparison of preceding results, It is possible that the exhausted NOx emission from a gas turbine combustor will be able to predict through the $OH^{\ast}$ intensity.

HCNG 엔진의 NOx 배출특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the NOx Emission Characteristics of HCNG Engine)

  • Natural gas is one of the most promising alternatives to gasoline and diesel fuels because of its high thermal efficiency and lower harmful emissions, including $CO_2$. Although the high octane value of natural gas increases engine output and efficiency due to the high compression ratio, this fuel is prone to such difficulties as a narrow limit of inflammability and a slow combustion speed in the lean burn operation domain, leading to unstable combustion and higher emissions of harmful exhaust gases. Hydrogen blended with natural gas can extend the lean burn limit while maintaining stable, efficient combustion and achieving lower NOx, hydrocarbon and green house gas emissions. In this study, the effect of hydrogen addition on an engine performance and NOx emission characteristics was investigated in a heavy duty natural gas engine. The results showed that thermal efficiency was increased and NOx emissions were reduced due to the expansion of lean operation range under stable operation. NOx emission can be significantly reduced with the retard of spark advance timing.

Mercury Emission Control in Japan

  • The Minamata Convention on Mercury entered into force on August 16, 2017. It requires Parties to the Convention to control and, where feasible, reduce mercury emissions from the listed sources. To implement the Convention, Japan amended the Air Pollution Control Law and added clauses that force operators to control their mercury emissions below emission limit values (ELVs). The ELVs have been established separately for new and existing sources, targeting the source categories listed in the Convention: coal-fired boilers, smelting and roasting processes used in the production of non-ferrous metals (lead, zinc, copper and industrial gold), waste incineration facilities and cement clinker production facilities. The factors used to establish the ELVs include the present state of mercury emissions from the targeted categories as well as the mercury content in fuels and materials, best available techniques (BATs) and best environmental practices (BEPs) to control and reduce mercury emissions and ELVs or equivalent standards to control mercury emissions in other countries. In this regard, extensive data on mercury emissions from flue gas and the mercury content of fuels and materials were collected and analyzed. The established ELVs range from $8{\mu}g/Nm^3$ for new coal-fired boilers to $400{\mu}g/Nm^3$ for existing secondary smelting processes used in the production of copper, lead and zinc. This paper illustrates the ELVs for the targeted source categories, explaining the rationales and approaches used to set the values. The amended Law is to be enforced on April 1, 2018. From future perspectives, checks of the material flow of mercury, following up on the state of compliance, review of the ELVs and of the measurement and monitoring methods have been noted as important issues.

Supernova Remnants in the UWISH2 survey: A preliminary report

  • UWISH2 (UKIRT Widefield Infrared Survey for $H_2$) is an unbiased, narrow-band imaging survey of the Galactic plane in the $H_2$ 1-0 S(1) emission line at $2.122{\mu}m$ using the Wide-Field Camera (WFCAM) at the United Kingdom Infrared Telescope (UKIRT). The survey covers about 150 square degrees of the first Galactic quadrant ($10^{\circ}$ < l < $65^{\circ}$; $-1.3^{\circ}$ < b < $+1.3^{\circ}$). The images have a $5{\sigma}$ detection limit of point sources of K~18 mag and the surface brightness limit is $10^{-19}\;W\;m^{-2}$ $arcsec^{-2}$. The survey operation began on 28 July 2009 and has completed on 17 August 2011. We have been studying the supernova remnants (SNRs) in the UWISH2 survey area. Among the known 274 Galactic SNRs, the survey area includes 65 SNRs or 24 percent of the known SNRs. The wide-field and high-quality UWISH2 images allow us to identify both the diffuse extended and compact $H_2$ emission associated with SNRs, which is useful for understanding their physical environment and evolution. The continuum is subtracted from the narrow-band $H_2$ images using the K-band continuum images obtained as part of the UKIDSS GPS (UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey of the Galactic Plane). So far, we have inspected 42 SNRs, and found distinct H2 emission in 14 SNRs. The detection rate is 33%. Some of the SNRs show bright, complex, and interesting structures that have never been reported in previous studies. In this report, we present our identification scheme and preliminary results.

580 MW급 복합발전소 탈질설비에서 가스터빈 출력에 따른 암모니아 소모량 변화 (Change of Ammonia Consumption with Gas Turbine Output in DeNOx System for a 580 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant)

  • 본 연구에서는 580 MW급 세종복합발전소의 선택적 촉매환원방식 탈질설비 1호기를 대상으로 강화된 대기환경보전법 및 환경평가협의 질소산화물 허용배출기준을 준수하는 암모니아 소모량을 찾고자 가스터빈 출력별 암모니아 투입량을 조절하며 측정하였다. 측정을 위해 가스터빈 출력은 50, 99, 149 그리고 198 MW로 변동시키고 각 출력단계별 연소가스 및 암모니아 공급조건을 고정한 상태에서 탈질설비 내 암모니아 소모량을 조절하였다. 질소산화물 배출기준을 10 ppm에서 8 ppm으로 변경하였을 때 출력대별 암모니아 소모량은 각각 78, 93, 105 그리고 133 kg/h에서 89, 113, 132 그리고 176 kg/h로 증가 되었다. 암모니아 소모량 증가율은 질소산화물 배출기준 10 ppm 대비 출력대 별 각각 14, 22, 26 그리고 32%로 출력이 증가할 수 록 증가율도 늘어남을 알 수 있었다.

  • 천연가스에 수소를 첨가하는 수소-천연가스 혼합연료 (HCNG) 엔진 기술은 수소의 빠른 화염속도와 넓은 가연범위를 이용하여 출력 및 배기성능을 최적화하는 기술로서 희박연소 한계를 증가시킴으로써 열효율의 개선은 물론 유해배출물의 저감을 얻을 수 있다. 그러나 과급장치를 사용하는 희박연소 엔진의 경우 전부하 운전조건에서 희박연소 한계의 증가는 충분한 공기량을 공급할 수 있도록 과급용량의 증가가 선결되어야 구현될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 HCNG 엔진 개발의 일환으로 과급시스템의 변경에 의한 엔진의 출력특성을 파악하고, 과급용량 증대의 적용가능성을 검토하고자 하였다. 터보차저가 과급압력의 증대 보다는 유량이 증가된 영역에서 효율이 높게 설계된 경우 농후한 혼합기 조건에서는 과급압력이 감소되더라도 제원상의 출력을 만족하며 효율적인 운전이 가능하였다.

강제환기식 산란계 사육시설의 PM, NH3 발생·배출 특성 조사 (Investigation on Generation and Emission of Particulate Matters and Ammonia from Mechanically-ventilated Layer House)

  • In this study, the generation and emission characteristics of particulate matter and gaseous matter in a mechanically ventilated layer house were evaluated. Each concentration of PM10, PM2.5, inhalable dust, respirable dust, and NH3 was measured and compared with occupational limit considering seasons and respiratory disorder. CAPPS (Clean Air Policy Support System) of the Ministry of Environment proposes the emission factors of PM10, PM2.5, and NH3 for a layer houses however, emission factors are still calculated from foreign factors such as CONINAIR values. As a result, it is urgent to develop national emission factors for domestic layer house. Emission coefficients of the studied mechanically-ventilated layer house in a summer season were calculated as 0.052 kg/head/year for PM10, about 12% lower than that of CAPSS, and 0.0068±0.0038 kg/head/year for PM2.5, showing no significant difference. Emission factor of NH3 was calculated as 0.159±0.031 kg/head/year, about 51% lower than that of CAPSS.

방출셀을 이용한 액상건축자재 오염물질 방출시험방법 정립에 관한 연구 (Study on establishment of emission cell test method for liquid phase building materials)

  • 이 연구는 소형방출챔버와 방출셀을 이용한 총휘발성유기화합물(TVOC) 방출시험결과의 상관성을 규명하여 방출셀을 이용한 액상 건축자재 오염물질 방출시험 방법을 정립하고 활용방안을 제시하기 위한 기초 자료를 확보하고자 수행되었다. 소형방출챔버와 방출셀을 이용한 액상 건축자재 방출시험을 실시하기 위해 방출시험 적합성 여부를 판단하고 최적조건을 확립하기 위하여 방출시험장치, 분석기기에 대한 성능평가를 실시하였다. 방출시험 장치인 소형방출챔버와 방출셀의 배경농도 청정도, 기밀도, 회수율, 분석장치인 열탈착장치 회수율 및 GC/MS 기기재현성, 방법검출한계(MDL) 등을 평가한 결과 방출시험장치와 분석기기의 조건은 안정적이고 재현성과 감도가 양호하여 액상 건축자재에서 방출되는 오염물질에 대한 측정 분석조건이 최적화되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 페인트, 접착제, 실란트로 구성된 40개의 액상 건축자재를 대상으로 소형방출챔버와 방출셀을 이용하여 오염물질 방출시험을 실시한 결과 방출되는 총휘발성유기화합물의 농도는 소형 방출챔버와 방출셀에서 모두 대수정규분포(log normal distribution)하였으며 시험방법차이에 따른 방출량 분포의 차이는 크지 않았다. 또한 방출셀을 이용하여 오염물질 방출시험을 실시하였을 때, 소형방출챔버를 이용하였을 때보다 약 1.35~1.41배 높은 방출량을 나타내었으며 상관계수(r)가 약 0.91~0.97의 범위를 보여 높은 상관성이 있는 것으로 확인되었다.

실도로 주행에서 PEMS를 이용한 소형 경유 상용차의 가스 상 유해대기오염물질 배출계수 연구 (Emission Factor of Hazardous Air Pollutants in Gas-phase from Light Commersial Vehicle using PEMS on Real-road Driving)

  • In this study, the HAPs(Harzard Air Pollutants) emission factor level of Starex and Grand Carnival was tested using PEMS (Portable Emissions Measurement System) on real road driving. As a result of RDE (Real Driving Emission test), the overall vehicle speed pattern showed similar characteristics. The real-road driving test at constant speed revealed emission factor is inversely proportional relationship to constant speed. Results of accelerating with speed limit on the real-road were shown as followings; Uran (less than 45 km/h)>Rural (<45 km/h, less than 80 km/h)>Motorway (>80 km/h). Moreover, the sudden acceleration and deceleration in driving at high speed was the increasing factor to the HAPs emission factor. This tendency is considered to be influenced by the operating environment on real roads.

피혁폐수 고도처리시설의 통계학적 특성 (Statistical Characteristics of An Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant for Leather Industry)

  • The advanced wastewater treatment plant of leather industry was selected to evaluated with its effluent water quality and statistical characteristics. Most of pollutants removal efficiencies were over 90% as well. And 95% reliability of effluent concentration were 106.8 mg/L of $COD_{mn}$, 72.04 mg/L of TN. However Effluent quality of TN exceeds the regulated limit. The range of coefficient of variation (CV) were between 0.18 and 2.49. Also, coefficient of reliability (COR) were between $0.03(BOD_5){\sim}0.63(COD_{mn})$ and 0.43 in terms of T-N, $Z_{l-a}$(Normalized Percentiles) value were 55.7 and 2.25 in terms of $BOD_5$ and T-N as shown in the following table.
