It is needed to make more efforts to activate the gifted child education in elementary information science regarding selection of the gifted, development of appropriate curriculum, however, as a saying goes that a quality of education is depended on teacher's quality, and outstanding performance of teachers in charge of teaching the gifted is critical to make education for the gifted in elementary information science successful. Considering the significances of teacher variances, the research on the professionality of teacher who is responsible for the elite education in elementary information science should be made, along with a plan to cultivate their competence.
Recently, the demand for gifted education has been increased tremendously especially due to the impact of the second National plan of gifted education, which has made wide expansion of the education. Accordingly, in parallel with the boom of gifted education demand for IT education for gifted children has been also increasing. In this paper, I considered efficient methods to operate education programs for elementary information-gifted children in association with the expanding information-gifted education. In order to demonstrate the methods, I conducted literature reviews and questionnaire surveys. Based on them, I suggested methods to operate education programs for elementary information-gifted children. This study is expected to help to establish even more effective education for elementary information-gifted children.

As interest in artificial intelligence education for elementary school students has recently increased, it is necessary to analyze the existing elementary information education research from a macroscopic point of view to understand the current situation and to provide implications for subsequent research. This study analyzed Journal of The Korean Association of Information Education for the purpose of looking at the research trend of elementary information education in Korea. For the data of the study, all papers published until 2020 in the first issue of the journal were selected, and 11 research topics were derived by modeling topics. As a result of the study, topic T1, the highest proportion, was analyzed to account for about 38%, and keywords such as education, research, analysis, elementary school, and information were derived according to the order of contribution to topic T1. As a result of regression analysis according to the year of the topic, it was found that the research trend is changing to computing thinking, software education, and artificial intelligence education. In line with the social changes due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, foreign countries are strengthening information education for the future of education. This study analyzed the current status of software (SW) and artificial intelligence (AI) education among different types of information education programs in elementary schools of major foreign countries, and compared them with the education provided in Korea. Compared to major foreign countries, Korea allocated very little time for software education in elementary schools, making it difficult to sufficiently cover all areas of the curriculum achievement standards. In addition, other countries recognized the importance of artificial intelligence, an important technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and were providing artificial intelligence education on the basis of software education at the national level. The Korean government is also planning on providing the education at national level, but it was identified that the information education of elementary schools have many problematic issues. This study emphasized the need to establish an information curriculum for elementary schools as a way to address these issues.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions, intake levels and information needs of elementary school students on artificial food colorants in order to provide better understanding and proper dietary education to these students. From May to June 2010, a survey was conducted from 315 elementary school students at fifth and sixth grade level who were living in Seoul. The questionnaire was distributed by 14 elementary school teachers to their classroom students. The results showed that food safety was regarded as the most important factor in purchasing food items, and artificial food colorants were the most interested among various food additives. Although there was a lack of general knowledge and the students' estimated intake levels of artificial food colorants from processed foods were comparatively low, most (82.7%) believed that artificial food colorants were dangerous for health. The information they wanted to know most was the safety, necessity, and function of artificial food colorants, in order. Above results suggested the necessity of providing accurate information on artificial food colorants to elementary school students possibly by developing educational materials which can improve the perceptions on artificial food colorants and encourage a safe dietary life.

The "Information and Communication Technology Education Guidelines" were revised in December, 2005. However, the revised guidelines are not propagated in the elementary school. One of the reasons is that the textbook is not faithful to the revised guidelines. We analyzed the elementary computer textbooks published on and after June 2006. In the result, the contents of many textbooks are not based on the "Information and Communication Technology Education Revised Guidelines". Especially, "Understanding of the Information Processing" and "Comprehensive Activities" areas are not faithful to the revised guidelines. Therefore, the systematization of the textbook screening system, participation of the computer education expert, development of the detailed curriculums, and training of the elementary teachers are essentials for invigorating of the elementary computer education.
