  • The electron energy distributions function were analysed in sulIitur hexaflowide at E/N : 500~800(Td) for a case of non-equilibrium region in the nran electron energy. This papa- describes the electron transport characteristics in $ SF_6$ gas calculated for range of E/N values from 150~800(Td) by the Monte Carlo simulation and Boltzmann equation Irethod using a set of electron collision cross sectioos determined by the authors and the values of electron swarm parameters. The results gained that the value of an electron swarm parameter such as the electron drift velocity, the electron ionization or attachment coefficients, longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficients agree with the experimental and theoretical for a range of E/N. • Processing of Scanning electron microscope imaging has been analyzed in both secondary electron (SE) imaging and backscattered electron (BSE) image. Because of unique characteristics of both secondary electron and backscattered electron image, mechanism of imaging process and image quality are quite different each other. For the sake of characterize imaging process, Monte Carlo simulation code have been developed. It simulates electron penetration and depth profile in certain material. In addition, secondary electron and backscattered electron generation process as well as their spatial distribution and energy characteristics can be simulated. Geometries that has fundamental feature have been imaged using the developed Monte Carlo code. Two, SE and BSE images generation process will be discussed. BSE imaging process can be readily used to discriminate in both material and geometry by simply changing position and direction of BSE detector. The developed MC code could be useful to design BSE detector and their position. Furthermore, surface reconstruction technique is possibly developed at the further research efforts. Basics of Monte Carlo simulation method will be discussed as well as characteristics of SE and BSE images.

  • In the pulsed electron beam generators, such as plasma focus devices and linear induction accelerators whose electron pulse width is in the range of nanosecond and less, as well as in cases where there is no direct access to electron beam, like runaway electrons in Tokamaks, measurement of the electron energy spectrum is a technical challenge. In such cases, the indirect measurement of the electron spectrum by using the bremsstrahlung radiation spectrum associated with it, is an appropriate solution. The problem with this method is that the matrix equation between the two spectrums is an ill-conditioned equation, which results in errors of the measured X-ray spectrum to be propagated with a large coefficient in the estimated electron spectrum. In this study, a method based on the neural network and the MCNP code is presented and evaluated to recover the electron spectrum from the X-ray generated by collision of the electron beam with a target. Multilayer perceptron network showed good accuracy in electron spectrum recovery, so that for the X-ray spectrum with errors of 3% and 10%, the network estimated the electron spectrum with an average standard error of 8% and 11%, on all of the energy intervals.

  • The relative stabilities of weak binding clusters are sensitive to temperature due to the entropy effect. Thus, here we report significant changes in relative stabilities between two low-energy electron-water trimer structures and those between three low-energy electron-water pentamer structures, as the temperature increases. The trimer and pentamer show structural changes around 200 K.

  • A field emission projection microscope was constructed to investigate the atomic and chemical-bonding structure of molecules using electron in-line holography. Fringes of carbon nanotube images were found to be interferograms equivalent to those created by the electron biprism in conventional electron microscopy. By exploiting carbon nanotubes as the filament of the electron biprism, we measured the transverse coherence length of the electron beam from tungsten field emitters. The measurements revealed that a partially coherent electron-beam was emitted from a finite area.

  • Electron-electron interactions bear important information on fundamental electronic properties such as electron effective mass, conductivity, and charge mobility. By using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, here we address unusual electron self-energy in graphene induced by the electron-electron interactions, which are distinguished from those of an ordinary Fermi liquid. Our findings provide a new route for two-dimensional electron systems toward device applications.

  • Electron crystallography has been used as the one of powerful tool for studying the structure of biological macromolecules at high resolution which is sufficient to provide details of intramolecular and intermolecular interactions at near-atomic level. Previously it commonly uses two-dimensional crystals that are periodic arrangement of biological molecules, however recent studies reported a novel technical approach to electron crystallography of three-dimensional crystals, called micro electron-diffraction (MicroED) which involves placing the irregular and small sized protein crystals in a transmission electron microscope to determine the atomic structure. In here, we review the advances in electron crystallography techniques with several recent studies. Furthermore, we discuss the future direction of this structural approach.

  • In this paper energy distribution function in $SiH_4$ has been analysed over the E/N range 0.5${\sim}$300Td and Pressure value 0.5, 1.0, 2.5 Torr by a two-term approximation Boltzmann equation method and by a Monte Carlo simulation. The motion has been calculated to give swarm parameters for the electron drift velocity, diffusion coefficient, electron ionization, mean energy and the electron energy distribution function. The electron energy distribution function has been analysed in $SiH_4$ at E/N=30, 50Td for a case of the equilibrium region in the mean electron energy and respective set of electron collision cross sections. The results show that the deduced electron drift velocities, the electron ionization or attachment coefficients, longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficients and mean energy agree reasonably well with theoretical for a rang of E/N values.

  • The nature of the signals collected by an SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) in order to form images are all dependent on the detector used to collect them, and the quality of an acquired image is strongly influenced by detector performance. Therefore, the development of detector with high performance is very important in pulling up the resolution of SEM. In this article, electron beam-specimen interactions, the detection principle of secondary electrons and backscattered electrons, and the structure of a conventional detector are described. The structure of an experimental apparatus for the future study on our hopeful novel electron detector is presented as well.
