  • According to the progress of the electronic industy and radio communication technologies, mankind might enjoy its abundant life On the other hand, many social problems such as EMI, and unnecessary electromagnetic wave occur due to the increased use of electromagnetic wave. Therefore, the organiztions such as CISPR, FCC, ANSl,etc. have provided the standard of electromagnetic wave enviroment for the countermeasure of the EMC. It had been required that the absorbing ability of an electromagnetic wave absorber is more than 20 dB, the bandwidth of which is required through 30 MHz to 1,000 MHz for satisfying the international standard about an anechoic chamber for EMI/EMS measurment. From November of 1998, however, the CISPRll has accepted the extended frequency band from 1 GHz to 18 GHz additionally in the bandwidth of EMI measurementent$^{[1]}$ . In this paper, we proposed a new type absorber satisfying the above requirements and carried out broadband design using the equivalent material constants method. Futheremore, the experiments were carried out over the frequency band from 30 MHz to 2 GHz, and hence, the validity of the proposed design theory was confirmed.

  • In modern system, electromagnetic environment are going worse with advancing electric and electronic technology, and this electromagnetic environment affect modern electric train system at the point of the safety problem. Therefore, each distributed system that is consisting electric train system have to prove there own electromagnetic compatibility through the field test. These distributed system can be considered as power supply system, signal & communication system and train system. In this study, essential field tests for electromagnetic compatibility of train system based on IEC national standard are suggested.

  • This paper presents a coupling scheme, which couples an analytical solution and the standard finite element, for analyzing the electromagnetic fields. The former is a solution of the magnetic field in free space, i.e., the outer region of boundary, and the latter represents the system with source currents and magnetic materials in the inner region of boundary. The proposed method retains the sparsity and symmetry of the final system matrix, the merits of the standard FEM. To verify the usefulness of the proposed algorithm, an example which can be solved analytically is chosen and analyzed. The results are compared with those of the standard FEM and the analytic solutions.

  • KRISS-V, a V-band millimeter-wave source module for a primary RF power standard and calibration system developed by the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science is here presented. The output power of KRISS-V is several times higher than that of commercial amplifier/multiplier chains and is highly stable (the standard deviations of output power are less than 0.01% in the worst case). The spectral purity of KRISS-V is high enough to consider it a single-tone signal generator. We also added programmable attenuation capability to KRISS-V for remote power control. Moreover, the in-house source module is cost-effective and adaptable to various measurement schemes. The structure of the model as well as detailed component information are introduced so that it can be reproduced.

  • As the industry develops, they are interested in the fault of electric machines and the effect on human beings by electromagnetic fields and waves which generate through much use of electric machines and appliances. In foreign country, they confirmed the standard about electromagnetic interference and compatibility(EMI/EMC) of electromagnetic fields and waves generating electricity transmission/distribution equipments and electric appliance. In Korea, such criteria are applied too. Before EMI/EMC standard is applied, it is important to prepare the plan to predict and reduce electromagnetic fields and waves which generate in the inner and the outer part of electric machinery. To solve such a problem, they calculated Maxwell's equations by finite element method(FEM) and finite difference method(FDM) in most papers. However, these methods have the disadvantage that mathematical expansions are complex and need much memory allocations for grid and mesh generations. In this paper, we introduce transmission line matrix(TLM) method that media of which trains consists are regarded as transmission lines for electromagnetic field calculation in Korean High Speed Train, calculate the electric and magnetic field, and analyze the results.

  • Because of the recent rapid advances in the development of ships with a larger proportion of electrical and electronic equipment, The usable frequency spread spectrum on ships is global trend. Therefore, concerns have been raised regarding the possible hazardous health effects of electromagnetic fields radiating from electronic devices. Although studies and investments on electro-magnetic fields in terrestrial areas are being conducted, they are not applied to a ship. In this paper, we measured electromagnetic fields in ship propulsion systems, and we analyzed the measured values against Korean and international standards. While the measured results satisfied the Korean standard, the Italian standard was not met in the switchboard area. However, the measured values were close to meeting the Italian standard. Therefore, further studies should be conducted for performing a comparative analysis of data in order to specify a standard of electromagnetic fields in propulsion systems that can be applied in the construction of government infrastructures.

  • The electromagnetic coupling effect in standard CMOS process is simulated and evaluated. EM coupling transfer characteristic between planar spiral inductors by isolation methode in standard CMOS have simulated and measured. Measurement results show that suppression of EM coupling effect by ground guardring. The evaluated structures are fabricated 1P5M(one poly, five metal) 0.25um standard CMOS process. These measurement results provide a isolation design guidelines in standard CMOS process for Rf coupling suppression.
