Magnetic Circuit and Characteristics of A flux Concentrated Spoke Type. Permanent Magnet BLDC Motor (자속 집중형 Spoke Type 영구자석 BLDC 전동기의 자기회로 및 특성 해석)

  • In this paper, the magnetic circuit characteristics and the current/torque analysis of a Spoke Type permanent magnet motor have been researched, compared with the SPM Type motor. In the magnetic circuit analysis, the characteristic of air-gap flux density has been analyzed according to the variation of the number of pole and the ratio of magnet height to arc length using finite element method and circuit equations. Moreover, the electromagnetic and the reluctance torque have been analyzed by the current profile, which is obtained from the variation of turn-on angle, and these informative data has been utilized for the overall characteristics of the Spoke Type BLDC motor.

  • A new structure to design low pass filters (LPFs) is presented rho proposed structure has the etched shape of Quad-Spiral DGS(Defected Ground Structure) on microstrip transmission lines. By extracting the equivalent circuit elements of unit Quad-Spiral DGS, LPFs are designed easily. The equivalent circuit of Quad-Spiral DGS consists of a step impedance resonator and lumped elements. The proposed LPF provided steep rejection characteristics with 5-poles. Experimental results show excellent agreements with circuit simulation results in wide band and the validity of our circuit modeling for LPF design. The result shows another possibility of Quad Spiral DGS for microwave devices.

  • The back-light inverter used in the laptop computer is designed in this paper. It has been difficult for electromagnetic transformer to enhance the efficiency and compact profile of the inverter. In this paper, (1) the piezoelectric transformer (PT) is used for reducing the loss; (2) the volumes of core and winding coil are used in electromagnetic transformer, and (3) the half-bridge series parallel resonant circuit is used in the driver of the inverter. The modified PT for this paper and the equivalent circuit are supported by the simulation program. The result of the experiment shows more than 91% improvement in terms of the efficiency.

  • This paper presents a Receiver MMIC for the CDMA terminal. The complete circuit is composed of Low Noise Amplifier, Down Conversion Mixer, Intermediate Frequency Amplifier and Bias circuit. The Bias circuit implementation, which allows for compensation for threshold voltage and power supply voltage variation are provided. The proposed topology has high linearity and low noise characteristics. Results of the designed circuit are as follows: Overall conversion gain is 28.5 dB, input IP3 of LNA is 8 dBm, input IP3 of down conversion mixer is 0 dBm and total DC current consumption is 22.1 mA.

  • Nowadays electromagnetic contactors are used for power on-off in various electrical loads. If the severe arc are occurred when power off, the magnetic contactor can not long run because of damage of contactor. In this paper, Authors indicate a method of how to minimize the arc when power off, Authors contrived a electronic circuit which can adjust the demagnetizing point of electro magnetic contactor, and control the demagnetizing point, utilizing our circuit, so as to occur the extinguish of arc at near the AC current zero point which is indispensibly exists. From the results of study, Authors could get confirmations the AC circuit could cut off with occurrence of mininum arc, and that possibility of extensive utilization of our method to hightension circuit.

  • This study presents a circuit model for simulating the switching transients of insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) with inductive load switching. The modeling approach used in this study considers the behavior of IGBTs and freewheeling diodes during the transient process and ignores the complex semiconductor physics-based relationships and parameters. The proposed circuit model can accurately simulate the switching behavior due to the detailed consideration of device-circuit interactions and the nonlinear nature of model parameters, such as internal capacitances. The developed model is incorporated in an IGBT loss calculation module of an electromagnetic transient simulation program to enable the estimation of switching losses in voltage source converters embedded in large power systems.

  • The backlight inverter used in a laptop computer is investigated in this paper. It has been difficult for the electromagnetic transformer in the inverter to have a high efficiency and compact profile. In this study the piezoelectric transformer(PT) is used to reduce the loss and volume compared to the standard electromagnetic transformer. Comparison with the experimental inverter with the PT has been shown to validated the simulation program using the equivalent circuit model of the PT. A simple dimming control circuit was experimentally demonstrated and shown to have broad control.

  • Through AIS(Automatic Identification System), ITU-R suggested the navigational data communication between ships and between ships and shore stations for the better safety of navigation, and it requires two different the transmitting output power level depending on its operating mode. According to ITU's recommendation, these levels should reach within 20% of its final value in 1ms. In this paper, an adequate feedback control circuit for power amplifier module is designed and implemented.

  • In this paper, a simulation method of the internal winding fault is proposed to calculate winding current and electromagnetic force in a distribution power transformer by suing FEM program. The model of the transformer is a single phase, 60[Hz], 1[MVA], 22.9[kV]/220[V], cable-type winding. The short-circuit current and electromagnetic force are calculated by FEM(Finite Element Method) program(Flux2D) and the results we verified with theoretical formula and PSPICE program. The simulation results are fairly good agreement with the other verified methods within 5[%] error rate. The turn-to-turn short-circuit current is 500 times of the rated current and the electromagnetic force is about $20{\sim}200times$. The method presented in this study may serve as one of the useful tools in the electromagnetic force analysis of the transformer winding behavior under the short circuit condition for design of the structure.

  • Voltage equations of a synchronous machine are derived from the electromagnetic field theory in order to develop a new equivalent circuit model considering core loss. The result from the new equivalent circuit model is superior to that of the conventional one in the analysis of machine performance and characteristics on optimal efficiency control of a synchronous motor.
