누설자속법을 이용한 박강판의 결함탐상 (Inspection of Non-metallic Inclusions in Thin Steel Sheets Using Magnetic Flux Leakage Method)

  • 박강판의 내부에 존재하는 개재물성 결함을 검사하기 위해 누설자속법을 이용하여 탐상하는 시스템을 개발하였다. 연자성 코어의 보자력을 이용한 차등형 플럭스게이트 자력계를 제작하였다. FEM 소프트웨어를 이용하여 전자석을 설계하였으며, 3축 이동이 가능한 누설자속탐상장치를 제작하여 냉연강판을 검사한 결과 개재물성 결함을 검사학 수 있음을 알았다. 누설자속값을 디지털화하여 2차원 이미지로 처리한 결과 냉연강판에 존재하는 개재물성 결함 이외의 결함을 일부 구분할 수 있음을 알았다.

  • 본 연구에서 종동력을 받는 첨단질량을 갖는 외팔보의 동적 안정성을 연구 하기 위해 접선 종동력을 전자석의 자기력에 의해 만들었으며, 이 비보존 종동력하에 서 보의 고유진동수의 변화와 임계하중에 대해 이론과 실험을 비교하였다.

  • Dynamic behavior of high speed train is very important because the high speed train should be safe and satisfied with the ride comfort. An eddy current brake system is mounted on trailer bogie and wheelset. The eddy current braking force longitudinally exerts on the articulated trailer bogie and the attraction force vertically exerts on the wheelset. Because a frame of eddy current brake system is flexible, these forces generate the vertical vibration at middle point of the frame. Also, the vibration change the vertical clearance between an electromagnet and top of rail which affect the magnitude of braking and attracting forces. Therefore, the dynamic behavior of the eddy current braking system must be predicted for design the dynamic characteristic of its mounting system when normally operate on rail which have irregularity. Vampire program is used for Prediction of the dynamic behavior of an eddy current braking system.

  • Magnetic fields (MF) generated both on board the vehicle and along the guideway provide levitation and propulsion forces. High speed maglev trains adopt electromagnet or superconducting magnet to realize levitation and propulsion functions. However, stray fields existing in passenger compartment and regions surrounding the vehicle and guideway have effect on passengers and environment. To investigate stray magnetic field effect, model of Transrapid and MLX are studied.

  • Magnet core and rail of a magnetically levitated vehicle are usually made of highly conductive materials. Accordingly, eddy currents are induced in those members. Eddy currents often lead to a decrement of levitation and guidance force. This paper has calculated the decrement of both forces due to eddy current generated by magnet's vertical and lateral motion. U-shaped electromagnet and rail were chosen as amodel of 2D finite element analysis. Calculated results proved that both forces dropped significantly at high speed. Consequently, effects of eddy current should be considered in designing the magnet and control system.

Active Vibration Control of a Cantilever Beam using Electromagnetic Actuators

  • In this paper, an experiment for the active vibration control of a cantilever beam uses electromagnet as an actuator and uses a laser sensor to measure the position of the bending beam, constituting a non-contacting control system. A mathematical model of the overall system is derived to analytically design an appropriate controller. Dynamic equations of the electromagnetic actuator and the beam are combined to find the transfer function from the actuator to the sensor. The effectiveness of the obtained model is verified by various experiments and an improper PID controller is designed based on the obtained model. According to analysis, the coefficient of the derivative controller is the most important parameter for handling the performance and the stability margin of the control system. The experimental results of the active control system are compared with those of the open loop system.

  • This paper presents results of FEA and tests on the characteristics of moving coil type LOA due to the static field excitation method. In case the static field is generated by NdFeB permanent magnet, the static thrust is almost 6 times than that by electromagnet. Therefore under the same power, the volume becomes small according to using permanent magnet for the generation of static field.

  • This paper presents the shape optimization algorithm of magnetic systems with, state variable constraints using the Finite Element Method. In the design' of electromagnetic systems, sometimes we have to consider the state variables when they seriously affect the performance of electromagnetic systems. So we should define that some design problems have the constraints of the state variables. We use the gradient of constraints and sensitivity analysis in order to consider the state variable constraints and obtain an optimal shape. The optimal shape must be satisfied constraints, so we take the gradient projection method as a kind of optimization methods. In this paper a numerical example with state variable constraints uses the superconducting electromagnet that has another constraint which the volume of the superconductor should be constant.

  • Recently, it has been studied machining of micro parts with increasing demands for ultra precision parts. However, many engineering problems have already begun in polishing of optical parts or lens. As a method to overcome such problems, a new technology for the polishing of the target surface is being studied by controlling abrasives using MR fluids which are sensitive to magnetic fields. Since the current MR polishing system uses a big electromagnet, and is difficult to polish micro parts or spherical lens. Therefore, in this study, a round endmill type MR polishing system was developed to polish a three-dimensional structure which has spherical or inclined plane. And then, series of experiments were performed to verify the polishing performance of the developed round endmill type MR polishing system.

  • The NMR's probe consists of the static magnetic field generator (magnetic source) and the RF coil. It is very strict for the homogeneity of the static magnetic field intensity of the magnetic source, so the cost of the magnetic source is more expensive in the entire nuclear magnetic resonance instrument. The magnetic source generally consists of electromagnet, permanent magnet and superconducting magnet. The permanent magnet basically needs not to spend on operation and maintenance and its cost of manufacture is much cheaper than the superconducting magnet. Therefore, the permanent magnet may be the only choice for the static magnetic field device if we want to use the magnetic resonance instrument as an analyzer for production by reducing price. A new probe magnet was developed on the basis of the permanent magnet ring in this paper to provide a technological way for reducing the manufacturing cost, weight and volume of the existing nuclear magnetic resonance instrument (including MRI) probe.
