열량법을 이용한 소용량급 고온초전도 마그넷의 교류손실 측정 (Experimental Set-up for AC Loss in Small Scale HTS Manget by using Calorimetric Method)

  • Generally, the high Tc superconductor(HTS) doesn't generate any loss in DC condition, but generate considerable loss in AC condition. Until now AC loss in superconductor has been researched on measuring method of short sample by using electrical method and magnetization method. But it is not easy to estimate AC loss in high class magnet system with results of measuring AC Joss in short sample. In this paper, we carry out research on measuring method by using calorimetric method used in measuring AC loss in high class magnet system. We make the inductive and non-inductive superconducting magnet and measure the generated AC loss, then we compare the measured results with the calculated results using Norris equation. This measuring method of AC loss using calorimetric method can measure not only AC loss in superconducting magnet but losses in conducting, radiant and low temperature. Consequently it is thought that efficient design and fabrication of superconducting magnet system will be possible by means of AC loss measurement method using calorimetric method.

  • 마그네트 보호회로는 초전도 마그네트 제작에 반드시 필요한 부분이다. 초전도 마그네트에 치가 발생하였을 때, 보호회로는 빠른 사고전류의 소비를 유도하여 마그네트를 보호할 뿐 아니라, HTC current lead를 보호하는 역할을 하게 된다. 여러 가지 타입의 보호회로 중 다이오드를 이용한 보호회로를 제작하기 위하여, 다이오드에 대한 예비실험을 수행하였다. 실험값을 근거로 결정된 다이오드를 이용하여 보호회로를 제작하고 이를 마그네트에 부착하여 실험하였으며, 만족할만한 결과를 얻게 되었다.

  • This paper is about the recent development of the magnetic impact actuator for endoscope. The developed magnetic impact actuator has many problems to arrange in the system body. Because the magnetic impact actuator need a permanent magnet as an impacter, so the magnetic interference among magnets can not be eliminated. This interference causes the system size bigger. We need a new actuator design to solve these problems. One of the good solutions is to use the closed electro-magnetic circuit. This kind of circuit enhances the actuators to be independent. It is written about the design of the electro-magnetic circuit and simulation using Maxwell(version 9.0)

  • A new modified trapezoidal modulating signal for a pulse width modulation (PWM) inverter suitable for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive is proposed in this paper. A new modulating signal for the PMSM drive is determined by the characteristic torque ripple of the motor with various electro-motive force (EMF). The proposed modulating signal is able to decrease the torque ripple even if the motor has sinusoidal EMF or non-sinusoidal EMF. By using the proposed modulating signal, the system reduced the torque ripple as well as achieved the effective utilization of the DC supply voltage for the inverter. Many improvements are accomplished by the PWM strategy adapting the modified trapezoidal modulating signal without a change in hardware.

  • This paper presents the design and the control of three degree-of-freedom(DOF) fine positioning device based on an electro-magnetic force. The device is designed by use of a magnetic circuit theory and it is capable of fine motion due to the electro-magnetic force. The device consists of permanent magnets, yokes and coils. The magnetic fluxes generated from the permanent magnets constitute magnetic paths through steel, whereas the coils are arranged into the gap between two surfaces of the yokes. Therefore, by supplying current to the coils, the coils are capable of some motions due to Lorentz forces. For the optimal design of the actuating system, the system parameters are defined and investigated under the given constraints. From the system modeling in small displacement, three decoupled equations of motion are obtained. To get better performance of the system, a PID controller is implemented. Experimental results are presented in terms of time response and accuracy.

Study of micro-plastics separation from sea water with electro-magnetic force

  • The method of removing micro-plastics from sea water has been developed using electro-magnetic force. Plastics are difficult to decompose and put a great load on the marine environment. Especially a plastic with a size of 5 mm or less is defined as micro-plastic and are carried by ocean currents over long distances, causing global pollution. These are not easily decomposed in the natural environment. The Lorentz force was generated in simulated sea water and its reaction force was applied to the micro-plastic to control their motion. Lorentz force was generated downward and the reaction force to the plastics was upward. The plastic used in the experiment was polystyrene with a diameter of 6 mm, and the density was 1.07 g/cm3. The polystyrene sphere levitated at the current density of 0.83 A/cm2 and the external field of 0.87T. The particle trajectory calculation was also made to design separation system using superconducting magnet.

  • 12inch 이상의 웨이퍼 성장에는 실리콘 용탕의 대류를 억제하여 웨이퍼의 순도를 높이기 위해 자기장 특히, 웨이퍼의 성장방향에 수직인 '수평자장'을 인가하는 방법이 사용된다. 현재 '자기장인가 방식', 특히 초전도를 사용한 자장인가 방식이 직경 1600mm에 이르는 용탕의 용액을 제어하는 유일한 방법으로 받아들여지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 12inch 실리콘 웨이퍼 성장용 초전도 마그네트 개발의 전단계로 개발중인 8inch 웨이퍼 성장용 수평자장형 초전도마그네트의 제작과정과 성능평가 결과에 대해 다루었다. 본 연구를 통해 액체헬륨의 증발을 최소화하기 위한 재응축형 극저온 용기에 대한 기술이 개발 되었으며, diode를 이용한 ��치보호부, HTS 전류리드의 ��치 protection부 등의 부속기술이 개발되었다. 초전도 마그네트는 내경 1400mm의 saddle type으로 이의 제작에 있어 많은 기술적 난재들을 경험해야 했다. 전체 시스템에 대한 성능평가 결과, 극저온용기 및 부속장치에 대한 결과는 만족스러웠으나, 코일부의 성능은 계획한 목표에 미치지 못했다.

  • In practical applications of HTS tapes for electric devices such as coils and power cables, the jointing of HTS tapes is needed. In magnet applications superconducting joints are needed to achieve very low resistance at the joint, but for power device applications, a slightly higher joint resistance may be acceptable. In this study, an economical joint with good mechanical and electrical integrity could be achieved for Bi-2223 tapes which can be applicable to electric power applications. A lap joint method has been used. The joint resistance and strength of the jointed Bi2223 tapes have been evaluated. Electro-mechanical properties of the joint sample under tension have been examined and compared with the case of the single tapes.

  • In this study, a car-door-controlled collision protection system using proximity sensor is proposed and its preliminary analysis and several preliminary experiments are conducted. The proposed system has three additional sub-components on the car-door that is, a pair of extra electro-magnetic actuator that are attached to the sliding bar of the open/close car-door four-bar mechanism, a proximity sensor that would be attached to the outside surface of the door which is likely to frequently contact to the object and a driving control circuit of the whole system. A proximity sensor is used to detect object close to the car-door, the driving control circuit provides actuating power command to the electro-magnets to generate braking force to stop the swing motion of the car-door. It is verified through kinematic analysis of the four-bar car-door open/close mechanism and through experiments that the magnitude of maximum electronic magnetic force could provide the braking force enough for this application. For this purpose, an electro-magnet driving circuit is implemented and tested. And also to increase the safety of the system a time delay circuit is implemented and tested.

  • This paper presents a shape optimization algorithm of electromagnetic devices using the design sensitivity analysis with FEM. The design sensitivity and adjoint variable formulas are derived for the 3D FEM with edge element. This algorithm is applied to 3D electro-magnet pole shape optimization problem to make a uniform flux density at the target region.
