  • This paper presents circuit model of catenery in electrified railway system. Most of (a.c.)electrified railway system adopted as AT fed power supply system. This system is fed with twice voltage. It is that AT system can be fed through longer distance. Conventional circuit model of catenary is used T equivalent circuit with lumped parameter. This model may include some problem when traction power supply system is analyzed. In addition, the model with distributed parameter is good for analysis of harmonic and EMI.

  • The power supply system in Korean electrified railway has adopted AT feeding. If a fault occurs in some substation for any reason, the vicinity substation must feed electric power on the outage substation through catenary. So, the feeding distance grows twice of the normal state at extended feeding condition. If substation's feeding distance is longer than normal condition, the catenary impedance and train to supply electric power from the substation. Therefore, the severe voltage drop can occur and power supply shall be not allowed. This paper presents the model of compensator against voltage drop using multi-port network algorithm. Whole traction power supply system can be analyzed with this model. Computer simulation including this model is performed based on real train schedule and increased schedule in case studies.

  • This study analyzed changes of train operation between Seoul~Cheonan after the introduction of new electrified rail in 2005. As expected number of passengers were reduced at specific service section and several railroad stations which were served by the Mugunghwa. Also, the statistic shows that passenter demand concentrated in a specific time, so train service frequency and level of service need to be modified to meet with changed demand pattern. The purpose of this paper is to identify critical demand pattern, especially, in several section of the railroad system. This studies provide a railroad transportation system that is significantly more efficient, with far greater capacity, by providing solutions to the problems of congestion impact.

  • This paper is studied on earth network configuration when common earth is applied to electrified railway system. And the permitted capacity of buried earth cable used for configuring common earth network and application plan of existing individual earth system when common em1:h network is applied to existing electrification line improvement are studied. For this, the configuration of common earth network is examined according to the SNCF regulation, and the interface between common earth and individual earth is analysed on the basis of the existing track circuit used in electrified line.

  • This paper analyzed the voltage induction phenomena on the telecommunication lines by electromagnetic coupling from high-speed A.C. electrified railway. The induced common mode voltages and the induced differential mode voltage on the telecommunication line was measured by notified standard method in the regulation of Korea. The test lines consist of 2 separated lines of 20 m and 300 m in influence distance each for comparison, with 2km inducing length. The analysis is made on the induced voltages from the different influence distances and the different earthing points, and also on the waveform and spectrum distributions. It is proved that the induction is arisen so good and the measured values are fair enough against noise such as the earth voltage differencing, and the current measuring scheme is also rightful.

  • That induced voltage by an electrified railway line is related with the position of telecommunication line between traction power feeding systems is practically varified by measurements in the real field. This experimented fact is conformed with the calculated simulation provided by the ITU-T Directives concerning the protection of telecommunication lines against harmful effects from electric power and electrified railway lines. Therefore it is needed to consider at what position a telecommunication line is parallelized with power feeding line of traction system when an induction phenomenon is evaluated or measurement is carried out besides the length of parallelization and the separate distance between power line and telecommunication line.

  • This paper proposes the analysis on new equipment for power quality in electrified railway. The proposed equipment consists of series and parallel inverter. Each inverter is connected by capacitor as dc link. This structure can be compensated for active and reactive power in catenary through transformer.

  • The railways in Russia is a core of the industrial, trade and technological development. They changed the country for the best affecting all sides of its life. The total length of the railways in Russia is 87,500 km (7% of the World railway network). They account for about a 25% of the World freight and 15% of the passenger traffic. In terms of length of electrified railways Russia is a World leader and in terms of total length of tracks it is second after the USA. Annual freight turnover is the third after the USA and China.
