  • Many researches on fire risk for normal electric wiring have been pursued in advanced countries such as the USA and Japan, but comparative studies of the partial disconnection and normal state of electric wires have not been conducted. Detection system for the cause of partial disconnection is not developed and prevention countermeasure for electrical fire by the cause is not effective. Therefore, in this paper, partial disconnection characteristics on electric wires were derived and analyzed by experiment and electrical-thermal finite element method(Flux 3D) on the model wires which consist of VCTF(PVC insulated PVC sheathed Cap Tyre Flexible Cord, KS C 3304) and IV(lndoorwire PVC, KS C 3302). VCTF is used in wiring portable electric appliances and the IV is used indoors. Interrelationships between partial disconnection premonitory symptom and current were derived and analyzed by the characteristics based on experiments and thermal analysis for electric wire according to current under normal state and 200% overload state of rated current.

  • An easy elevator originated is an opened system to compare an existing equipment, and learning efficient is high as a wiring that the sequence control circuit is on and off. The structure of an equipment to be controled from the first floor to the fifth floor is constructed by a lamp to express the function of the open-close of the door according to the cage moving, to express the mechanical actuation of the forward-reverse break and motor of load and of hand-worked control component of Push-Button S/W, L/S and Relay. In order to act of the elevator function that these components connected, designed the auto program and the sequence control circuit. Consequently the process that these(1~5steps) operated the cage with an auto program of the elevator and the sequence control circuit is controled by the step of forward and reverse that the L/S1~L/S5 of sensor adjust function let posit, by the adjustable S/W1~S/W5 of PLC testing panel and the S/W1~S/W5 which installed on the transparent acryl plate of a frame. In here, improved apparatus is the learning equipment of combined use to study the principle and the technique of the originated sequence control circuit and the auto program of PLC.

  • Recently, high performance microelectronic devices are designed in multi-layer structure in order to make dense wiring of metal conductors in compact size. For making dense wiring of metal conductors, we investigated CTE and peel strength of dielectric materials for next generation PCB. It is an object of this research to develop an epoxy resin composition for an interlayer insulating material exhibiting low CTE and high peel strengnth and making an insulating layer thinner.

  • Conventional Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers (ELCBs) have defects of a breaking failure or a long breaking-time against parallel arc current. In this paper, breaking characteristics of conventional ELCBs were analyzed by simulation of parallel arc in a low-voltage indoor wiring system, and an air-core current sensor and a signal converter being most available for parallel arc detection were developed and applied to a conventional ELCB. The proposed tripped the ELCB regardless of the location of parallel arc. The breaking-time was in ranges of $1.74{\sim}8.3[ms]$ depending on the phase of arc generation, which is about 5 times as fast as conventional ELCBs with the breaking-time of 50[ms].

  • Most of electrical fires are caused by short circuits, overheating of wires, deterioration and incomplete connection of wiring devices. The last two cases are predictable before the occurrence of fire because of its slow progress. In this paper, we have simulated the discharge signals caused by the deterioration and incomplete connection of wiring devices using an aged concent to provide information on the characteristics of discharge signals. From the experimental data, we could characterize the frequency spectrums of the discharge signals depending on the cases. The higher frequency components of the signal are attenuated by the capacitance and inductance of power lines as the measuring point is getting away from the discharges. Main frequency components of the discharge signal are existent at 600 kHz - 1.5 MHz in incomplete connections and at 210 kHz - 8 Mhz in deteriorations of the concent.

  • Instead of point-to-point hard wiring between substation yard equipments and SCADA RTU(Remote Terminal Unit), fibre optic cable will be used in the portion between Local Units and Central Unit in the future KEPCO 765kV substation. The connections between substation yard equipments and nearby Local Unit remain the same hard wiring. The new fibre optic system will provide security especially during ground faults and is immune to electrical noise. A prototype system will be manufactured and installed in the existing 154kV Yeosan Substation by the end of July this year and operated for one year. By incorporating the operation experiences acquired in the system, an improved system will be commercially applied to 765kV Shin-An-Seong Substation where 345kV GIS will be installed initially and act as the switching station in the year 1998. The system is composed of one Central Unit and several Local Units. The Central Unit is composed of two workstation level computers, one is in operation and the other backup, and a Communication Control Unit. The Local Unit uses the existing SCADA RTU technology and takes the form of a distributed one. Between the Communication Control Unit and Local Units, the fibre optic system with star-coupler is used.

  • As device sizes are scaled to submicron dimensions, planarization technology becomes increasing1y important, both during device fabrication and during formation of multilevel interconnects and wiring. Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) has emerged recently as a new processing technique for achieving a high degree of planarization for submicron VLSI applications. This paper is presented the results of CMP process window characterization studies for 0.35 micron process with 6 metal layers.

  • Chemical mechanical polishing(CMP) has been adopted in processing semiconductors for more than ten years. Although some customers expressed negative opinion about CMP at the beginning of its appearance, CMP has currently been applied to a variety of fields in addition to semiconductor multi-layer wiring strategies. This report summarizes each sort of CMP skills in their development stage and introduces each type of MAT's machines optimized for CMP research and development
