A Study on the Actual Operating Conditions of Guard Lamps and its Maintenance Problems (국내 보안등 운용실태 조사 및 유지관리성 검토 연구)

  • This paper describes the checking results and some problems of guard lamps installed in the field. The guard lamp providing night security for people is installed outdoors and exposed to the natural factors causing secular ageing and the people's vandalism, etc., thus it is prone to get troubles in function. In fact, the guard lamps has been left without considering the fundamental measures in the legislative system in spite of the loss of lives due to the electric shock accidents repetitively taking place every year. This study arouses people's attention to the risk due to the lack of management and maintenance of the guard lamp by investigating the recent technology and the actual operating conditions and some problems and countermeasures were ultimately deduced. In this process, we reflected on the various opinions through fieldwork and had a couple of consultations with field staffs, manufacturers concerned and active officers with local autonomous entities.

Comparison of Heel-rocking Time Between Young Women and Elderly Women (젊은 여성과 고령자 여성의 힐락킹 시간 비교 분석)

  • Heel rocking phase in gait cycle is from initial contact to forefoot contact. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of age on heel rocking time. Seven young women ($21.9{\pm}1.5yrs$) and seven elderly women ($74.1{\pm}6.7yrs$) participated in this study. Subjects wore the shoes equipped with pressure sensors and walked along 10 m walkway at comfortable speeds. Stride time, stance time, and heel rocking time were compared between groups. Stride time was not different between groups (p=0.087). Stance time was longer (p<0.001) but heel rocking time was shorter in the elderly than in the young (p<0.001). The shorter heel-rocking time in elderly women indicates less efficient shock-absorption in the heel-rocking phase, which might be related to the abnormal control and/or reduced performance of ankle dorsiflexors.

  • The effects of the addition of either monoclinic $ZrO_2(ZrO_2(m))$ or tetragonal $ZrO_2(ZrO_2(t))$ containing 5.35[wt%] $Y_2O_3$ on the physical properties and electrical conductivity of $Al_2O_3$ were investigated. The addition of $ZrO_2$(m) and $ZrO_2$(t) increased sintered density of $Al_2O_3$. The Vickers hardness also increased as addition of $ZrO_2$(t) increased going through a maximum at 20[wt%] and the hardness of the specimens was found to be dependent on the sintered density. The addition of $ZrO_2$(t) improved the hardness of $Al_2O_3-ZrO_2$ systems and the $ZrO_2$(m) addition showed the better effect on the thermal shock property of $Al_2O_3-ZrO_2$ systems than that of the $ZrO_2$(t) addition. Above 15[wt%] addition of $ZrO_2$(t), the electrical conductivity is gradually increased with increasing applied voltage but not effects by addition of $ZrO_2$(m).

  • The conventional photovoltaic(PV) systems are designed the installation angle for maximizing power output by considering a geographical characteristics, weather and climate conditions such as the solar radiation and atmosphere temperature. However, the PV generators must be designed to deal with the extreme situations like typhoons, earthquakes because PV systems are exposed to the ambient conditions and external shock due to condition of PV location. Especially, the wind has relatively higher influence on the design of PV systems, in this paper we proposed the method of determining the optimal nominal dimension of the facilities, which can withstand the maximum wind pressure. By using the proposed method, we determined the optimal installation angle for the aspect stability of PV facilities and amount of power output. Moreover, we analyzed the monthly amount of power for each installation angle of PV systems, and proposed the changing strategy of installation angle by determining the optimal angle to produce maximum power for each period.

  • The role of RCDs(Residual Current Protective Device) that are installed before the load is very important for preventing electric shock and electrical fire. However, although fault rate of RCD is increasing due to deterioration and long period usage, the RCD is permanently used without a checking of performance evaluation and it causes the electrical accident. In this paper, the amount of airborne chloride is researched in domestic costal area and the accelerated life test is conducted using a salt water spray tester in order to decide the life time of RCD. Aa a result of an accelerated life test, the MTTF(Mean Time To Failure) of RCD is 110.81 hours and B10 life time of RCD is 45.81 hours for the all samples. when an accelerated life test result is applied to within 2 km costal area, the life time of RCD is predicted about 5 years.

  • The short circuit and overload is presented by main cause of electrical fire. However, 85% of the fan directly connected the outlet box without switch in total 110 fans as a research in manufacturing industries. In installation direction of vertical type fans which was placed on the horizontal surface, only 39 vertical type fans were placed on vertical surface and 71 fans were placed on the horizontal type. The installation direction of the fans warns of the risk of the fire hazard due to the motor stall to the user manual of the maker. However, it is the representative nonconformity example of construction which the people or builder disregards. In addition, the condition of ground connection with the earth leakage prevention was investigated in grounding of 5 fans, non-grounding of 105 fans. The double insulation structure is generally used for small fan and it can't connect ground wire as electric plug of non-grounding type. However, industrial iron fan needs ground wire for electric leakage and to protect against electric shock.

  • The Quantum Hall Resistance(QHR) device which consists of GaAs/AlGaAs heterojunction structure is used for the realization of QHR Standard based on QHE. In order to characterize electrical contact resistances and dissipations of the device, it is slowly cooled down for eliminating thermal shock and unwanted noise. Then, the two properties are measured under 1.5 K and 5.15 T. Contact resistances are all within 1.2 Ω and longitudinal resistivities are all within 1 mΩ up to DC 90${\mu}$A. The results mean the device is operated well to realize the QHR Standard. To confirm it, the QHR Standard having the device is compared using a direct current comparator bridge with a 1 Ω resistance standard which the calibrated value is known from QHR standards maintained by other countries. The difference between them is agreed well within measurement uncertainty. It is thus considered that the properties of the device is estimated well and has good performance.

  • CATV is the abbreviation for Cable Television. General CATV is a way of multi-channel sending images, voices and music including stillness image as well as characters to public receivers through electrical cable communication system. In the beginning, master antennas were people can not receive TV signal well. TV programs were received from master antennas to TVs in each house. Ground connection began by experimenting lightning with the use of a kite and it means electric appliances, communication equipments, measuring instruments and so on connecting the Earth in order to flow away overcharged electricity. There are two kinds of earth connection: Power Ground and Signal Ground. Power Ground is for preventing an electric shock and in general there's no current in the connector. However in an accident, there's a quick flow of electricity out to the Earth. Signal Ground is not only for the safety of appliances but also for the safety of equipment operation. This paper is about connection for noise and interference reduce in order to prevent wrong operation and distortion of signal in the electrical appliances which can take place in CATV.

  • This paper presents computer simulation results for developing new type of SF$_{6}$ Circuit Breaker in terms of cold gas flow after small current interruption. This cold gas flows down a nozzle into the chamber of a circuit breaker. There are many difficult problems in analyzing the gas flow due to complex geometry, moving boundary, shock wave and so on. When predicting the dielectric capability of a gas circuit breaker after interruption, the gas pressure and density distributions due to the cold gas must be considered in addition to the electrical field imposed across the gas. A self-coded computational fluid dynamics (CFD) program is used for the simulation of cold gas flow in order to evaluate the electrical field characteristic across open contacts and transient characteristics of insulations after small current interruption.

  • In this paper, the risk of electric shock is analyzed through analysis for characterization of potential distribution analysis and ground fault current analysis near the area where there are occurred a ground fault at electric vehicle wireless charging system using 20kHz. Studies for electric vehicle wireless charging system are in the works for development of efficiency increase, pickup shape design and communication module as a fundamental research step. But the research related to electrical safety and is still scarce state so that more studies are necessary to commercialize. As a result of analysis, it is verified that induced voltage is arisen more up to 45V near the a area of accident during ground fault and fault current has been maintained continuously without clearing fault condition by operating characteristics for circuit breaker and inverter.
