This paper analyzes a resonant inverter to generate plasma. The resonant inverter consists of a full bridge converter, resonant network and reactor to generate a magnetic field for plasma generation. A plasma load has very distinct characteristics compared to conventional loads. The characteristics of plasma load are analyzed through experimental results. This paper presents the study on the resonant network, which was performed in order to determine how to achieve a constant current gain. Another important contribution of this study is the analysis of drop-out phenomenon observed in plasma loads which is responsible for unpredictable shutdown of the plasma generator that requires stable operation. In addition, the design process for the resonant network of a plasma generator is proposed. The validity of this study is verified through simulations and experimental results.
The conventional structure for an action selector of an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) has been criticized for a repeated action. To overcome this problem recently many researches have been focused on the reactive planning systems such as the biological immune system. In this paper, we propose a learning aritificial immune network, the learning method is to use Genetic Algorithm (GA). The computer simulation show that the usefulness of the learning immune network.
This paper propose neural network which is one of self-organizing techniques. It is composed neural network controller as input signal is error and change of error which is optimal output, and is learned system by using a error back-propagation learning algorithm is one of error mimizing learning methods. In order to achieve practical real time control reduce on learning time, it is applied to load-frequency control of nonlinear power system with using a moment learning method. It is described in such a case considering constraints for a rate of increace generation-rate.
In this paper, the power system automation based on CAN communication protocol is introduced. Along with digitalization of electrical device, the various on-line services such as remote control, remote monitoring, remote parameter setting, fault data recording and remote diagnostic have been realized and become available. Therefore, it is necessary for those electrical devices to have real-time and reliable communication protocols. Author proposes DNPC(Distributed Network Protocol with CAN) which is proper to the power system SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) and DCS (Distributed Control System). The physical and datalink layer of DNPC protocol consists of the CAN2.0B which has the real-time characteristics and powerful error control scheme. As the transport and application layer, DNP3.0 is adopted because of its flexibility and compatible feature. Using the DNPC protocol, the power system automation is realized.
This paper presents an improved parallel particle swarm optimization approach (IPPSO) based decomposed network for economic power dispatch with discontinuous fuel cost functions. The range of partial power demand corresponding to the partial output powers near the global optimal solution is determined by a flexible decomposed network strategy and then the final optimal solution is obtained by parallel Particle Swarm Optimization. The proposed approach tested on 6 generating units with smooth cost function, and to 26-bus (6 generating units) with consideration of prohibited zone effect, the simulation results compared with recent global optimization methods (Bee-OPF, GA, MTS, SA, PSO). From the different case studies, it is observed that the proposed approach provides qualitative solution with less computational time compared to various methods available in the literature survey.
The Fuzzy-Neural Controller is constructed to resolve some dificulties taking place in decision of membership functions, input and output gains and an inferenced method for desinging fuzzy logic controller. In addition Neural network emulator is used to emulate induction motor forward dynamics and to get error signal at fuzzy-neural controller output layer. Error signal is backpropagated through neural network emulator. A back propagation algorithm is used to train fuzzy-neural controller and emulator. The experimental results show that this control system can provide good dynamical responses.

This paper deals with the messages scheduling of a CAN (Controller Area Network), based on the distributed control scheme to integrate actuators and sensors in a humanoid robot. In order to supply the distributed processing for a humanoid robot, each control unit should have the efficient control method, fast calculation and valid data exchange. The preliminary study has concluded that the performance of CAN is better and easier to implement than other network such as FIP (Factory Instrumentation Protocol), VAN (Vehicle Area Network), etc. Since humanoid robot has to treat the significant control signals from many actuators and sensors, the communication time limitation could be critical according to the transmission speed and data length of CAN specification. In this paper, the CAN message scheduling in humanoid robot was suggested under the presence of Jitter in the message group, the existence of high load of messages over the network and the presence of transmission errors. In addition, the response time under the worst case is compared with the simulation by using the simulation algorithm. As a result, the suggested messages scheduling can guarantee our CAN limitation, and utilized to generate the walking patterns for the humanoid.
Chaff is a kind of matter spreading atmosphere with the purpose of preventing aircraft from detecting by radar. The chaff is commonly composed of small aluminum pieces, metallized glass fiber, or other lightweight strips which consists of reflecting materials. The chaff usually appears on the radar images as narrow bands shape of highly reflective echoes. And the chaff echo has similar characteristics to precipitation echo, and it interrupts weather forecasting process and makes forecasting accuracy low. In this paper, the chaff echo recognizing and removing method is suggested using Bayesian network. After converting coordinates from spherical to Cartesian in UF (Universal Format) radar data file, the characteristics of echoes are extracted by spatial and temporal clustering. And using the data, as a result of spatial and temporal clustering, a classification process for analyzing is performed. Finally, the inference system using Bayesian network is applied. As a result of experiments with actual radar data in real chaff echo appearing case, it is confirmed that Bayesian network can distinguish between chaff echo and non-chaff echo.
Distribution energy resources have been increasing in recent years. However, output power is limited for distribution network stability. This study proposes an active distribution network that can reconfigure distribution lines by using an active phase controller. A conventional distribution network has a fixed structure, whereas an active distribution network has a variable structure. Therefore, the latter can increase the output power of distribution energy resources and decrease the overload of distribution line facilities. An active phase controller has two operation modes for minimizing circulating current during dynamic reconfiguration. In this study, voltage and current control algorithms are proposed for active phase controllers. The simulation of the proposed methods for active phase controllers is performed using PSIM software.
