In this paper, multilayer actuator structured-ultrasonic nozzle and resonant inverter driving circuit were manufactured, respectively. Its electrical properties were investigated. Multilayer actuator structured ultrasonic nozzle was fabricated using PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics showing excellent piezoelectric characteristics. In order to drive ultrasonic nozzle, resonant PWM inverter was used. The purpose of this study is to find the optimal driving condition of ultrasonic nozzle. Accordingly, electrical and temperature characteristic of multilayer ultrasonic driving system were investigated by experiments as a function of the series resonance inductance. The driving current of ultrasonic nozzle showed the maximum current of 27 mA. Also, the surface temperature of ceramic vibrator showed $44^{\circ}C$ at driving time for 20 min. The ultrasonic nozzle was stably operated in the case of driving for more than 20 min.
A new LED lamp driving technology with a charge pump instead of a conventional DC-DC converter is proposed. The proposed driving technology is used to control the LED lamp with digital dimming. The power loss in the zener diodes is reduced because the charging process of the capacitors is selectively controlled according to the digital control signal. From the experimental results, when dimming four LED lamps simultaneously, the average driving circuit efficiency of 89% is obtained, regardless of the dimming level. White light with color temperature over a range of 2800~7200K was produced by dimming control of red, green, blue and amber LED lamps with the proposed driving circuit. The characteristics of the driving circuits can be changed depending on the characteristics of the R, G, B, and A LED lamps. The efficiency of the driving circuits up to a maximum 89% can also be obtained depending on the combination of LED lamps. The driving technology with digital dimming control for LED lamps proposed in this paper would be effective for obtaining high efficiency in LED driving circuits and remote control of LED lamps using digital communications.
A CMOS driving circuit for active matrix type polymer electroluminescent displays was designed to develop an on-chip microdisplay on the single crystal silicon wafer substrate. The driving circuit is a conventional structure that is composed of the row, column and pixel driving parts. 256 gray scales were implemented using pulse amplitude modulation method. The 2-transistor driving scheme was adopted for the pixel driving part. The layout was carried out considering the compatibility with the standard CMOS process. Judging from the layout of the driving circuit, it turns that it is possible to implement a high-resolution display about 400 ppi resolution. Through the HSPICE simulation, it was verified that this circuit is capable of driving a VGA signal mode display and implementing 256 gray levels.
This paper describes a method to find an optimal driving condition of vibratory gyroscope. Mechanical coupling between driving and sensing mode degrades the performance of vibratory gyroscope. When the resonant frequencies of driving and sensing parts are fixed, frequency and amplitude of driving source affect mechanical coupling. Thus, they should be optimally tuned. To investigate the influence of driving source on mechanical coupling, we measured frequency response and displacement of driving and sensing mode using laser vibromenter. The measured frequency response and displacement show that the gyroscope has minimum mechanical coupling when the frequency of driving source is set to the intermediate value of driving and sensing part resonant frequency. Measurement also shows that the mechanical coupling increases abruptly at a certain driving voltage as the voltage increases.
The driving method is one of the most important factors of PDP, so various driving methods have been developed to improve the duality of PDP Nowadays, most of PDPs apply to ADS (Address and Display period Separated) driving method. In this paper, a new driving method that divides scan lines into multi-Blocks is suggested. The proposed driving method in this paper can drive 14 sub-fields per 1 TV field in SD panel, 16 sub-fields per 1 TV field in HD panel. And sufficient Address margin can be obtained.

The rotational force of ultrasonic motors is able to get from the frictional force of elliptical vibration by contact between rotor and stator. Generally, ultrasonic motors are suitable for driving at resonant frequencies of about 20∼80[KHz]. The driving characteristics of ring type ultrasonic motors are the object of this study. A two-phase driving signal is delivered to the tested ultrasonic motor, which has a $90^0$ phase difference respectively with both sine and cosine voltage waveforms. The driving frequency is almost equal to the mechanical resonant frequency for the proper operation, and the driving signal is supplied by the two-phase parallel resonant inverter. The validity of the proposed driving method is verified by experimental results with stable operation.
Design consideration on electric drivetrain(E-D/T), usually referred as electric motor for driving, its compatible reduction gear, and inverter, are performed for developing electric vehicle(EV) with efficient driving performance. Universal mode of driving cycle has been used to make up the actual vehicle performance, and its results are incorporated to the design of E-D/T.
To evaluate vehicle performances and driving behavior of a vehicle, it is necessary to acquisit and analyze vehicle data during the vehicle driving, which affect fuel economy and emissions. An in-vehicle data acquisition system, which is called Mode Survey System(MOSS), is designed and developed to analyze the traffic and driving patterns of the vehicle. MOSS is a stand-alone system based on the 68HC11 MCU. MOSS logs various data relating to powertrain and vehicle driving such as vehicle speed, engine RPM, gear position, brake, clutch, fuel consumption, and others. The driving patterns are dependent on the driver's habit and the road and traffic conditions, these driving patterns would be able to make a official driving mode to be used in emission, fuel efficiency, shift survey, catalyst durability, and other tests using the analyzed driving patterns.

Eco-driving technique for electric vehicles (EVs) is investigated in this paper. Many findings on EVs have been reported; however, they did not deal with eco-driving from the viewpoint of theoretical study. The authors have developed an energy-saving driving technique - the so-called "eco-driving" technique based on dynamic programming (DP). Optimal speed profile of an EV, which minimizes the amount of total energy consumption, was determined under fixed origin and destination, running time, and track conditions. DP algorithm can deal with such complicated conditions and can also derive the optimal solution. Using the proposed method, simulations were run for some cases. In particular, the author ran simulations for the case of a gradient road with a traffic signal. The optimization model was solved with MATLAB.
In this paper, we report the improved driving methode using planar-gate for field emission light source. Due to the cold cathode in field emission device, it has advantage for driving system in terms of high speed pulse driving with narrow duty ratio. This paper shows that our driving method offers the stable and reliable driving system without rapid electric field variation for field emission light source.
