  • This paper presents preventive and emergency control measures for on line transient stability (security) enhancement. For insecure operating state, generation rescheduling based on a real power generation shift factor (RPGSF) is proposed as a preventive control measure to bring the system back to secure operating state. For emergency operating state, two emergency control strategies namely generator shedding and load shedding have been developed. The proposed emergency control strategies are based on voltage magnitudes and rotor trajectories data available through Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) installed in the systems. The effectiveness of the proposed approach has been investigated on IEEE-39 bus test system under different contingency and fault conditions and application results are presented.

  • In order to adapt the fast dynamic performances of Buck DC/DC converter, and reduce the influence on converter performance owing to uncertain factors such as the disturbances of parameters and load, a control strategy based on two-dimensional hybrid cloud model is proposed. Firstly, two cloud models corresponding to the specific control inputs are determined by maximum determination approach, respectively, and then a control rule decided by the two cloud models is selected by a rule selector, finally, according to the reasoning structure of the rule, the control increment is calculated out by a two-dimensional hybrid cloud decision module. Both the simulation and experiment results show that the strategy can dramatically improve the dynamic performances of the converter, and enhance the adaptive ability to resist the random disturbances, and its control effect is superior to that of the current-mode control.

  • A voltage source PWM converter based on lossless resonator and a source current control system are proposed in this paper. It is proved that steady-state deviation reduces to zero from the transfer function of source current control system, owing to the lossless resonator. The system can be controlled by the feedback control only, because of no need to use a feedforward control in the proposed a source current control system. Therefore, as using lossless resonator, control system can be simply made up. Simulations are described in the case of difference between source current and source current reference.

  • In this paper deals with linearized control of induction motor by vector control. Output equation induced from d-q axies voltage and current equation of induction moter. The condition of induced equation is that rotor's current of axies has 0 and state current of D axies which was driven by synchronous speed is constant. The fully digital controlled induction motor drive system based on the proposed linearized method and the control circuit of system consists of 16bits micro computer and all the function are implemented with software. When the voltage source inverter control with PI controller is empolyed, in spite of secondary resistance Rr Variation, the Vector control condition is satisfied.

  • This paper discusses study of sensorless control of a variable speed switched reluctance motor (SRM) for electric AC compressors on electrical vehicles. A typical SRM drive requires a position sensor such as an encoder or hall sensor to measure the angular rotor position. However, harsh environment in electrical AC compressors for electric vehicles makes it difficult to use the position sensor in their motor drive system. Therefore, a sensorless control scheme for electric compressor motors utilizing magnetic characteristics of SRM with respect to position angle and phase current is proposed. The overall variable speed SRM drive with position sensorless control scheme has been modeled using Matlab/Simulink software and closed loop current control simulation is presented to validate the proposed sensorless drive control.

  • LSM(Least-Squares Method) has inherent limitation that precise system identification over wide frequency band is difficult especially at low frequency hand. In this paper we propose to use decimation, a spectrum analysis method widely used in signal processing. The merits of decimation are the flexibility of selection of the frequency hand concerned and the function of LPF(Low Pass Filter). In this paper, frequency-domain is divided into separate frequency bands which will be combined into full frequency-domain by using MDM(Multiple Decimation Method). In this way, free selection of sampling frequency for each hand is possible and the low frequency oscillation modes of LSM are avoided.

  • In this study, the effects of SAMs on the performance of OTFTs have been investigated. ALD technique was applied for the deposition of SAMs, which is an ultra-thin film deposition technique based on sequences of self-limiting surface reactions enabling thickness control on atomic scale. According to our investigation results, it is observed that the surface properties of the gate insulator was changed by SAMs, which allow pentacene molecules to be deposited in the upright direction on the gate insulator and hence the performance of OTFTs could be improved. These results will be discussed

  • Since a microgrid has renewable energy sources, imbalance between power supply and power demand occurs in the islanded mode. In order to solve the imbalance, several energy storage systems (ESSs) such as bettary energy storage system (BESS), EDLC (electric double layer capacitor), flywheel, and SMES (superconducting magnetic energy storage) are generally used. Especially, their electrical characteristics are different. For efficient use of them, a coordinated control scheme is required. In this paper, a coordinated control scheme for using a Lead-acid BESS, a Lithium BESS, and a EDLC is designed to efficient frequency control for a microgrid in the islanded mode. The coordinated frequency control strategy is designed based on their electrical characteristics. The feasibility of the proposed coordinated frequency control strategy is verified through the simulation.

  • An induction motor operated with a conventional direct self controller(DSC) shows a sluggish response during startup and under changes of torque command. Fuzzy logic controller(FLC) is used in conjunction with DSC to minimize these problems. A FLC chooses the switching states based on a set of fuzzy variables. Flux position, error in flux magnitude and error in torque are used as fuzzy state variables. Fuzzy rules are determinated by observing the vector diagram of flux and currents. This paper proposes hybrid FLC for direct torque control(DTC) of induction motor drives. This controller is controlled speed using hybrid FLC. The performance of the proposed induction motor drive with hybrid FLC is verified by analysis results at various operation conditions.
