The Characteristic of Data Transmission for Power Line Communication using an AC Arrester for Electric Railway (전철 피뢰기를 이용한 전력선 통신 데이터 전송 특성)

  • Power line communication(PLC) is a kind of communication technology, was made use of controling a frequency narrow band, but as the PLC technology developing, in the near future get to the commercial step that is broadband PLC upto 30 MHz. This paper deals with the PLC of electric railway using capacitive signal coupler. An AC arrester for catenary is used as a capacitive signal coupler, has the characteristic of capacitor. As a result of field test, a messenger wire used PLC contain much of conducted noise about overall frequency band and also signal attenuation rate increased with increasing frequency between two points. and the communication speed of PLC used messenger wire is 793kbps at a distance of 40m. Experimental results show the possibility of PLC using a messenger wire and an AC arrester for catenary at electric railway.

  • This paper represents the application of the Static Var Compensator(SVC) on the electric railway power supply system. The purpose of the electric equipment can be summarized as to improve electrical power quality and to maintain the voltage. This paper shows that the SVC is necessary for voltage compensation in the railway power supply system and verify effectiveness of the SVC through the simulation. In this paper, the case studies were performed with the various line length and train position.

  • In electric motor coaches, the rolling stocks move by the adhesive effort between rail and driving wheel. Generally, the adhesive effort is defined by the function of both the weight of electric motor coach and the adhesive effort between rails and driving wheel. The characteristics of adhesive effort is strongly affected by the conditions between rails and driving wheel. When the adhesive effort decreases suddenly, the electric motor coach has slip phenomena. This paper proposes a re-adhesion control algorithm which uses the maximum adhesive effort by instantaneous estimation of adhesion force using load torque disturbance observer. Based on this estimated adhesive effort, the re-adhesion control is performed to obtain the maximum transfer of the tractive effort.

  • The main aim of the paper is the study of the surge voltages in electric railway signal security system. Hence these studies will provide means of introducing a suitable protective device insulating transformer. This influences the surge voltage interrupting capacity using surge arresters and bypass capacitors. This circuit can be used for investigating surge phenomenon in electric railway signal security system. In this paper a insulating transformer has been introduced for the reduction of surge voltages in the above circuit model and performance evaluation.

  • Electric railroad transformer of a supply of Operation power of DC electric cars is intense fluctuation of load and flows the only big short-circuit current as a accident of the power system. it is a peculiarity more severe than general power transformer. Consequently, researches the properties about the rectifier mold transformer of DC substation and applies with data of safety of the electric railroad transformer. This paper analyzed a failure mode, the accident occurrence scenario and the be latent dangerous unit against the rectifier mold transformer of DC railway system.

  • In an electric railway feeding system, transient over-voltage often appears due to the feeder's direct lightning and induced lightning, while switching over-voltage also frequently occurs during operation of electric feeding in substation facilities. Such over-voltage is several times larger than the regular power, and accordingly leads to the dieletric breakdown of eletric power products such as invasion transformers and circuit breakers. Arresters are installed to protect these machines, while arrester counters are installed to observe the arrester's activation. This thesis aims to explore the status of an arrester counter that is being activated several thousand times, determine whether the arrester has actually been activated in relation to the counter, and investigate the over-heatedness and risks of the arrester.

  • This paper presents development of the program which calculates the electric quantities such as current, voltage at each pan of railway electrification system in static state. The purpose of this program is to estimate the adequacy of railway electrification system through simulations. And it contributes the estimations for optimal railway electrification system by calculating the maximum of current and voltage. The results are represented through GUI(Graphic User Interface) for user to understand easily.

  • Recently, the growth of electric railway technology steadily keep up in the korea, and occupancy rate of electric railway system increased as a transportation method so energy consumption of railway system is increasing. According to this reason, the many studys of energy consumption in the railway system are in progress. In this context, the TTX(Tilting Train eXpress) needs to measure and analyze energy consumption and regenerative energy. In this paper, because of driving of TTX in the Ho-Nam railroad and Jung-Ang railroad, consumpted and regenerated energy are measured. This measured data is classified and analyzed as driving mode.

  • In electric railway system, potential of rail has been risen, for return-current flows through rail. The magnitude of rising voltage is different to railway feed system, ground admittance of rail and the load current. If rising voltage of rail is large, electric shock can be occurred to passengers and maintenance-worker. In this paper, we estimate the rising voltage of rail in high speed railway system and check the safety to human beings.
