  • An electric precipitator in a thermal electric power plant is essential equipment for preventing air environment pollution. However, it is difficult for the existing control systems to make efficient effects on dust collection. This is because AVC and ERC consist of independent, separate systems in the existing systems. To solve this problem, we developed an intelligent distributed control system, which makes optimal control possible through connection operations between the control systems. In this paper, we analyzed system performance and fly ash reduction effects through the developed system structure, development contents and its actual application to power plant.

  • In these days many large scale plants are attempting to use the Virtual Reality technology in the process analysis. Their goal is to reduce the development time by more effective information management as Simultaneous Engineering point of view, and by connecting the CAD datum and all kinds of products information. Generally, it is taken for granted that when a plant is equipped with a Virtual Reality technology, they are able to review the design and analyze the engineering performance of the product before actually building it, so that their goal to reduce costs and enhance the initial quality can be achieved. [1][2] In this paper we will look into the application the virtual reality technology Hadong fossil power plant. And we will also define the concepts of virtual plant by summarizing requirements and thoughts from the people who are in working in the actual site.

  • How to maintain the optimal electric power generation mix is one of the important problems in electric power industry. The objective of this study is to develop a computer model which can be used to forecast the investment in power generation unit by the plant owners after restructuring of electric power industry. Restructuring of electric power industry will make difference in decision making process of investment in power generation unit. After Privatiazation of Power Industry, Gencos will think that profit is the most important factor among all others attracting the investment in the industry. Coal power generation is better than LNG CCGT in terms of profit. However, many studies show that LNG CCGT will be main electric power generation source because the rest of factors other than profit in LNG CCGT are superior than Coal power generation. The impacts of the various government policies can be analyzed using the computer model, thus the government can formulate effective policies for achieving the desired electric power generation mix.

  • In this paper, a real-time communication method using a PICNET-NP(Plant Instrumentation and Control Network for Nuclear Power Plant) is proposed with an analysis of the control network requirements of DCS (Distributed Control System) in nuclear power plants. The method satisfies deadline in case of worst data traffics by considering aperiodic and periodic real-time data and others. In addition, the method was used to analyze the data characteristics of the DCS in existing nuclear power plant. The result shows that use of this method meets the response time requirement(100ms).

  • An electrical generator in power plant is driven and maintained its speed at rated by steam turbine. By the way, after synchronization in parallel with the power system, as the steam flow into turbine can not be reduced fast even though the electrical load is lost, the turbine gets into dangerous situation due to the increase of its speed. At this time, the duty of the turbine governor is to limit the speed to its overspeed trip set point by stopping the steam flow as soon as possible, the test of which is called load rejection test. It is introduced in this paper for a field simulation test of generator load rejection to be implemented on the turbine governor in a 680MW nuclear power plant before its startup.

  • This paper introduce Renewable Energy forecasting technology, which is a part of renewable management system. Then, calculation method of dedicated transmission line's meteorological data to forecast renewable energy is suggested. As the case of dedicated transmission line, there is only power output data combined the number of renewable plants' output that acquired from circuit breakers. So it is need to calculate meteorological data for dedicated transmission line that matched combined power output data. this paper suggests two calculation method. First method is select the plant has the largest capacity, and use it's meteorological data as line meteorological data. Second method is average with weight that given according to plants' capacity. In case study, suggested methods are applied to real data. Then use calculated data to Renewable forecasting and analyze the forecasting results.

  • For the life extension of Jeju thermal power plant, digital PWM excitation system was replaced by KEPRI. This system consist of TMR(Triple Modular Redundant) controller, dual PWM power inverter for field current control and MMI etc. The Performance test during the commissioning verified the reliability of digital PWM excitation system and recently, this system has been operated successfully.

  • Distributed Control Systems(DCS) arc used in a wide range of process applications such as power plants. This paper presents calculated network capacity of a DCS that developed for nuclear power plant. The network hierarchies are 3 layed of information network, control network and field network. The assumed total node number of maximum DCS network is 64. Worst case network utilization of the DCS is simulated and analyzed.
