전기자전거용 BLDC 전동기 설계 및 제어기 개발 (Design of BLDC Motors for an Electric Bicycle and Development of their Controller)

  • The aim of this paper is twofold: The one is to design BLDC motors for an electric bicycle and the other is to develop a controller of the BLDC motors. A new BLDC Motor has a permanent magnet rotor in which the magnetic arrangement is radial to the shaft and integral to the rotor laminations instead of mounted on the perimeter of the rotor. This technique concentrates flux, giving a higher flux density than a surface-mounted PM motor and has the increase of reluctance torque. The stator of BLDC motor has parallel winding instead of interconnected wye-connection winding, allowing multi-phase separate independent controllability. It gets much more high power than wye-connection at same low voltage. The proposed controller has a technique of exited with modulation(EWM) and one H-bridge and two photo sensors per phase. Experimental results show the performance of the proposed BLDC motors for an electric bicycle.

  • Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle is driven by the engine, the primary traction motor, and the secondary auxiliary motor generating the electric power for battery charging. Secondary auxiliary motor should be connected to the engine or separated from the engine by the clutch system. This paper presents the position controller of the BLDC motor for the clutch system of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle. The BLDC motor can be applied to the clutch system in spite of it's low accuracy of the position control due to high gear ratio between the clutch and the motor. Since the attachment and the detachment between the motor and the engine should be carried out within 0.3 seconds, the position controller with fast acceleration and deceleration is implemented. For the torque control with braking operation for the BLDC motor, the modified bipolar PWM method with low current ripple compared to the conventional unipolar PWM is presented. The position control performance of the BLDC motor for the clutch system is verified through the simulation and experiments.

  • This thesis focuses on the design of control schemes for highly efficient BLDC motor drive applications using drives with output capacity of 1Hp. The control system was designed and implemented on a PIC micro-controller and applied to an electric vehicle as a viable replacement to the existing a high phase induction motor that is currently being used for these low cost, small traction drive applications. This paper for the brushless drive research has shown the optimization of the drive system for improved drive design and switching techniques that can improve the entire drive system efficiency for electric vehicle both large and small traction applications using sinusoidal PWM techniques for synthesizing the AC waveforms needed to control these traction drives. In addition, Numerical simulation was conducted to evaluate the performance of designed BLDC Motor using MotorPro simulator.

  • 전동스쿠터는 수명이 짧고 효율이 낮은 직류 모터를 사용하고 있으며, 모터를 제어하기 위한 시스템을 일률적으로 수입하여 장착하고 있어 제품의 차별화가 없고 다양한 특성을 갖는 장애인에 맞는 제품을 디자인 할 수 없는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 장애인용 전동스쿠터에 특화시켜 가격은 저렴하면서도 반영구적인 수명 그리고 고출력의 특징을 갖는 BLDC 모터 제어시스템을 개발하였다. 특히, 국내 외 업체에서 생산되고 있는 전동스쿠터와는 차별화된 고출력, 고효율 전동스쿠터 제어시스템를 개발함으로써 국내산 전동스쿠터의 기술대비 가격 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 관련 산업의 활성화에도 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

  • A lot of conventional automotive components driven by mechanical power source are being replaced with electrical ones to comply with the demands of market and customer, therefore the amount of electric energy used in a vehicle will be increased continuously. The increment of electric power demand causes interest on new higher power system such as 42V Power Net, and furthermore necessity for development of energy storage device is highlighted recently. This paper present the design of the BLDC motor for electric air-conditioner in 42V system and compare with the characteristics of several type BLDC motor.

  • This paper decribes multi-phase BLDC motor with a minimum torque pulsation among BLDC motor used for electric propulsion system. Multi-phase BLDC motor has characteristic that phase of stator has more than 3-phase. This paper is modeling two type of BLDC motor, one has 3-phase and the other has 7-phase, and it shows simulation of them comparing its characteristics. As a result of simulation, the 7-phase BLDC motor shows better performance in terms of torque pulsation. It is also found that the torque pulsation is reduced further by increasing the number of phase.

  • 본 논문에서는 BLDC 모터로 구동되는 오일 펌프 제어 시스템을 설계하고 구현하는 문제를 다룬다. 제안된 오일 펌프는 하이브리드 차량에 장착되어 엔진 클러치와 변속기에 충분한 양의 작동유를 공급하는 역할을 한다. BLCD 모터로 구동되는 제어기를 단순화하여 전원 전압을 PWM 방식으로 직접 제어하는 일반적인 방법을 사용함으로써 응답성 및 정확성을 향상시키는 것을 주목적으로 한다. 제안된 제어 기법은 오일 펌프 장치의 효율성과 신뢰성을 높인다. BLCD 모터의 회전과 오일 펌프 가동 실험을 실시하여 제안된 기법의 성능을 검증한다.

회전축 부하를 고려한 BLDC 모터의 열적 특성에 관한 실험 및 수치 해석적 연구 (Thermal Characteristics of 600 W Brushless DC Motor under Axial Loading Condition)

  • A brushless direct current (BLDC) motor electronically performs rectification without brushes. It therefore does not have the typical mechanical friction contacts between the brushes and commutators. The BLDC motor has the advantages of high speed, low noise, and electronic noise reduction in addition to high durability and reliability. Therefore, it is mainly used in electric vehicles and electric equipment. However, iron loss and copper loss due to long-term use induce temperature increases in the motor, which reduces its performance and life. The temperatures of the stator and permanent magnet are predicted to be $62.3^{\circ}C$ and $32.2^{\circ}C$, respectively. This study shows the enhanced temperature distribution in a 600 W BLDC motor using unsteady and three-dimensional (3D) numerical investigations validated with experimental data.

하이브리드 차량의 엔진 및 배터리 냉각팬 구동용 BLDC모터 개발 (Development of BLDC Motor for HEV Engine Cooling and Battery Cooling System)

  • Hybrid Electric Vehicles(HEVs) have seriously come into prevalence recently as car manufacturers and consumers have become more aware of the environmental and economic problems of conventional vehicles. For the alternative power-train and battery cooling systems in HEVs, an effective thermal management system is required, and many automakers are interested in using Brushless DC(BLDC) motors for cooling fans for the overall traction unit's performance and energy saving capability. This paper presents the development status of BLDC motors as major parts of the power-train, i.e. the engine cooling and battery cooling fans of HEVs. A design that uses BLDC motors for the power-train and each battery cooling fan, is successfully implemented through using electro-magnetic analysis, and prototype BLDC motors are examined. As experimental results, the BLDC motors achieved an efficiency of 85% as engine cooling fans and 72% as a battery thermal management fan motor. The electric cogging noise is significantly reduced by changing the skew of the slot pitch angle and optimizing the magnetic shape.

  • The increment of electric power demand causes interest on new higher power system such as 42V Power Net, and furthermore necessity for development of energy storage device is highlighted recently. Owing to high efficiency and easy speed control of brushless DC(BLDC) motor, the demand of BLDC motor that has high power and low noises are increasing. Especially demand of interior permanent magnet(IPM) type BLDC with high efficiency and high power in electric motion vehicle is increasing. This paper presents the design of the BLBC motor for EHPS(Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering) in 42V system and verified the characteristics by simulation and test results.
