A Study on the Social Support, Ego-resiliency and Stress Coping Strategies of School-Dropout Adolescents (학업중단 청소년의 사회적지지, 자아탄력성과 스트레스 대처방식 연구)

  • This study investigated relative explanation of social support, ego-resiliency and stress coping strategies to help adaptive coping style of school-dropout adolescents under stress situation. To this end, 101 school-dropout adolescents were surveyed by visiting and requesting the outofschool youth supporting project, youth detention center, and adolescent protective and treatment facilities in Daejeon, Cheongnam, and Chungbuk. As analysis methods, descriptive statistical analysis, pearson's correlation, and hierarchical analysis were conducted and the research results are as follows. First, stress coping strategies showed positive relationship with social support and ego-resiliency. Second, a variable that showed greater explanation power for stress coping strategies was the environmental variable, the social support. Third, it was identified that there was greater explanation power when the environmental variable, the social support, and the personal variable, the ego-resiliency, were put in at the same time for stress coping strategies. According to the result, this study implies that schools, community, national policy effort and systemetic approach are required as well as improvement of personal coping capabilities in order to overcome difficulties school-dropout adolescents face.

Convergence Influence of Ego-resiliency, Organizational Loyalty and Organizational Commitment on Emotional Intelligence among Hospital Administrative Staffs (병원행정직의 자아탄력성, 조직충성도 및 조직헌신도가 감성지능에 미치는 융복합적 영향)

  • It is necessary to investigate the relationship between ego-resiliency, organizational loyalty, organizational commitment, and emotional intelligence of hospital administrative staff and the effect of these factors on emotional intelligence. Therefore, this study investigated the relationship between these factors and emotional intelligence and identified the convergence effect on emotional intelligence in hospital administrative staff. The subjects of the survey were randomly selected 212 administration staffs at 19 hospitals selected from the J area. The data collection was conducted for about a month from May 1 to 31, 2019. The form of the questionnaire used structured anonymous self-administered responses. Emotional intelligence showed a positive correlation between ego-resiliency, organizational loyalty, and organizational commitment. According to the analysis, efforts to enhance ego-resiliency, organizational loyalty, and organizational commitment are needed to increase the emotional intelligence of hospital administration staffs. The findings may be used as basic materials for hospital job management and industrial health education that will raise the emotional intelligence of hospital administration staffs. Future research needs to investigate additional factors related to emotional intelligence and various emotional factors of hospital administrative staff.

Determinants of Academic Achievement Among High School Seniors

  • This study determines what affects the academic achievement of senior high school students in the context of the individual, family, and school environment. The sample selection consisted of 1484 high school seniors in Korea. The following are the results of this study: First, female students scored higher in academic achievement than male students. Second, academic achievement by male students was related to levels of school satisfaction, academic motivation, and family strength, while academic achievement by female students was related to levels of parents' education, family income, ego-resiliency, school satisfaction, academic motivation, and family strength. Third, the most important predictor of academic achievement for male and female students is academic motivation, followed by school satisfaction. The present study highlighted the necessity to develop academic achievement improvement programs appropriate for both genders of senior high school students.

The Effect of Ego-Related Variables and School Adjustment on Children's Life Satisfaction* (자아 관련 변인들과 학교적응이 아동의 생활만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the influence of children's self-concept, self-efficacy, self-resiliency and school adjustment on life satisfaction. Data were collected from 582 fifth and sixth graders in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The results of this study are as follows. First, self-concept, self-efficacy, and school adjustment were all confirmed as variables that had direct or indirect influence on life satisfaction. Of these, it was found that school adjustment and self-resiliency turned out to have a more direct influence on children's life satisfaction. Second, as for the greatness of direct influence on school adjustment, which mediates the ego-related variables and life satisfaction, self-efficacy, self-resilience, and self-concept proved to be greater in that order. Third, self-concept turned out to be the variable that had the greatest influence on school adjustment and life satisfaction when taking into consideration of both the direct and indirect influence. It was confirmed that it could be more effective to compose an intervention method for the promotion of life satisfaction case by case for short term goals.

Convergence Analysis of the Factors Influencing Job-Seeking Stress in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 취업 스트레스에 미치는 융합적 영향요인)

  • The purpose of the study was to identify the factors influencing the nursing students' job-seeking stress. A cross-sectional descriptive survey, using a structured questionnaire, was used to collect data from Sep. to Oct. 2016. A sample of convenience was 246 nursing students and a questionnaire was used to measure their major satisfaction, CDMSE, self-esteem, ego-resiliency, and job-seeking stress. A significant negative correlation was found among job-seeking stress, major satisfaction, CDMSE, self-esteem, and ego-resiliency. Grade of which the participant was in, self-esteem, academic achievement, experience of clinical practice, and family economic status were significant predictive variables of which accounted for 46.1% of the variance in job-seeking stress. The results from this study can be used to develop programs for job-seeking stress management.

Analysis of the Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Convergence Factors in Hospital Administrative Staffs (병원행정직의 감성지능과 융복합 요인들의 관련성 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and convergence factors of hospital administrative staff. During the survey period from From May 1st to May 31st, 2019, anonymous self-administered responses to 212 administrative staffs of 19 hospitals randomly selected in J area were used as analysis data. According to hierarchical multiple regression analysis, the higher the ego-resiliency, the higher the organizational loyalty, and the higher the organizational commitment, the higher the emotional intelligence, and their explanatory power was 43.0%. Based on these analysis results, efforts are needed to increase ego-resiliency, increase organizational loyalty, and increase organizational commitment in order to increase the emotional intelligence of hospital administrative jobs. The above results are expected to be applied to industrial health education and job management in the future at hospitals to enhance emotional intelligence of hospital administrative staffs. Future research requires the establishment and analysis of a structural equation model that affects the emotional intelligence of hospital administrative staffs.

The effect of ego-resiliency on the quality of life under CO VID-19 situations: stress-mediating effect (코로나 19 상황에서 자아탄력성이 대학생의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향: 스트레스 매개 효과)

  • In this study, we investigated whether the degree of anxiety, depression, stress, and ego resilience in the COVID-19 epidemic situation could affect the quality of life of college students and analyzed the correlation between them. In addition, the causal relationship and mediating effect on ego resilience, stress and quality of life were analyzed and necessary countermeasures were proposed. As a result of analyzing the correlation between each variable, it was found that anxiety, depression, stress, quality of life, and self-resilience all had significant correlations. In particular, stress was found to play a complete mediating role in the effect of ego resilience on quality of life. It is expected that this study will be used as a basis for research on the effect of stress and self-resilience on the improvement of quality of life in the Corona situation.

Factors Affecting the Depression of Elementary School Teachers (초등교사의 우울에 미치는 영향요인)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the factors affecting depression in elementary school teachers. The research design was a descriptive study. Methods:Data were collected by questionnaires from 283 elementary school teachers. Data were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, a $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The mean scores were 2.44, 3.07 and 3.68 out of 5 on Likert scales for burnout, job stress and ego-resiliency, respectively. The mean scores were 1.47 and 2.95 out of 4 on Likert scales for items of depression and job satisfaction, respectively. Teaching experience and class size affected depression significantly. There was a positive correlation between depression and burnout(r=0.465, p<.001), and between depression and job stress(r =.220, p<.001),while a negative correlation was observed between depression and job satisfaction(r=-.249, p<.001), and depression and ego-resiliency(r=-.643, p<.001). Multiple regression analysis showed that ego-resiliency(${\beta}=0.639$), job satisfaction(${\beta}=.141$), burnout(${\beta}=.094$), and job stress(${\beta}=.067$) affected depression in order and the four research variables led to a 42.7% prediction for depression among elementary school teachers. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, a systematic plan for decreasing job stress and increasing eco-resilience is needed to improve depression among elementary school teachers.

A case study of the person centered art therapy for improving sexual victimized adolescent's emotional stability, ego-resiliency, self-esteem (성폭력피해 청소년의 정서안정감, 자아탄력성, 자아존중감 향상을 위한 인간중심미술치료 사례연구)

  • This study was to examine how Art Therapy affected improving Self-Esteem and Ego-Resiliency, Emotional Stability of Sexual Victimized Adolescent. The subject was the middle school student girl, 3th grades(15year old). She was suffered from sexual assault she was lack of self-confidence and suffered difficulty in daily life. Individual Art Therapy was performed once a week for 60 minutes and for 20 periods. Emotional Stability, Self-Resilience, Self-Esteem were performed pre-post test to verify the effectiveness of the program. The results obtained after Art Therapy were as follows. Firstly, The Self-Esteem score improved to post- 35 points from pre-16points. The Ego-Resiliency score improved to post-133points from pre- 63 points. The Emotional Stability score changed to a post-ex-post 96 score with a score of 110 as a positive effect. Secondly, the subject in the whole process of Art Therapy were formed intimacy with the researchers, able to heal painful scars while expressing inner feelings in a stable psychological state. Through the creative activities, she became confident and had positive thoughts about his future. Even though, this program focused to prevent PTSD. So the subjects needs to participate follow up program to treat depression, anxiety, nerveless be caused by sexual assault.

Effect of Ego-resiliency and Career consciousness maturity of Nursing students on Job-seeking stress (간호대학생의 자아탄력성과 진로의식성숙이 취업스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, the relationship between ego-resiliency, career consciousness maturity, and job-seeking stress of nursing students was investigated. For this study, data were collected from October 22 to November 21, 2021. Therefore, general characteristics, job-seeking characteristics, ego-resilience, career consciousness maturity, job-seeking stress were investigated by applying a structured questionnaire targeting 187 nursing students. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and Multiple regression data were analyzed using program IBM SPSS21.0. In the study results, ego-resilience had a positive correlation with career consciousness maturity, and career consciousness maturity had a negative correlation with job-seeking stress. The factor affecting job-seeking stress was the maturity of career consciousness, and the influence was 43%. Based on the research results, It is necessary to develop and apply job-seeking support programs in education so that nursing students can reduce job-seeking stress and make positive career plans.
