The survey participants were 459 university students in Gyeonggi province. The collected data were analyzed using frequency, Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression, and moderated multiple regression by SPSS. The results were as follows. Stress, childhood traumatic experience and ego resilience had correlations with the life satisfaction. Ego resilience and stress were significant effective variables on the life satisfaction. Moderated multiple regression analysis also showed that a positive future orientation, which is a sub factor of ego-resilience, influenced the stress level. Based on these findings, it is important to lower the stress levels to increase the students' life satisfaction level. To do so, a strategy to enhance the positive future orientation is recommended.

The data is collected from March 2 to April 2, 2019, on a total of 358 students (196 paramedic students and 162 nursing students) based in Jeolla Province. The structured questionnaire were used as research tools and the collected data were analyzed by using the SPSS program as frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficient. The average score of total ego-resilience among the subjects was 86.97 out of 125 points. The number of paramedic students who experienced or witnessed the disaster situation in person was 11.2%, and the number of nursing students was 11.7%. The core competence of disaster response was 3.21% in paramedic students and 3.16% in nursing students. The ego-resilience of the paramedic and nursing students according to their general characteristics is statistically significant differences (t=2.797, p<.005) and the paramedic students has an average score of 3.52 points, which is higher than the nursing students (3.42 points). General characteristics and experience in disasters are statistically significant differences (t=2.797, p<.005), paramedic students had more disaster experiences (3.11 points) than nursing students (2.67 points). It indicated the static correlation relationship between ego-resilience, disaster experience and core competences of disaster response (p<.000). Through this study, the paramedic students were found to be more ego-resilience, more disaster experience and more critical capacity for disaster treatment than nursing students.

  • This paper reports a descriptive correlation to explore the relationship among nursing professionalism, ego-resilience, and empowerment in nursing students. A convenience sample of 195 subjects were recruited from four colleges. Subsequently, a survey was conducted from March 1st to 31th 2016. The data were collected by questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS 22.0 program, using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. The mean value of the study was as follows: nursing professionalism, $3.84{\pm}.47$; ego-resilience, $3.51{\pm}.58$; and empowerment, $2.79{\pm}.51$. There were significant positive correlations among ego-resilience (r=.455, p<.001), empowerment (r=.325, p<.001), and nursing professionalism. Significant positive correlations between ego-resilience and empowerment were found (r=.696, p<.001). Hence, ego-resilience and empowerment were determined to be factors that influence nursing professionalism. Ego-resilience was more influential for nursing professionalism than empowerment. The regression model explained 23.0% of nursing professionalism. In conclusion, to increase nursing professionalism in nursing students, it is necessary to develop educational programs and strategies that focus on improving ego-resilience and empowerment.

  • The major purpose of this research was to explore the mediating effects of ego-resiliency between parent communication style and stress coping styles in adolescence. The subjects who participated in this study included 247 high school students from Gyeong-gi province. Data were analyzed by t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. It was found that parent-adolescence communication as well as ego-resilience had significant effects on stress coping styles. In particular, female teenagers showed evidence that ego-resilience had complete mediation over relationships between a parent's communication styles and their stress coping styles.
