Improving Feed Value of Agricultural By-Products (농산부산물(農産副産物)의 사료화(飼料化))

  • In order to improve feed values of Korean agricultural by-products, various treatments including physical, chemical, physicochemical and fermentation were suggested in th is review article. Physical treatments such as chopping, grinding and pelleting reduce partiole size of agricultural by-products, and increase passage rate from the rumen, thus may increase voluntary feed intake and weight gain. Digestibility and voluntary feed intake of straw, rice hull and sawdust, also, may be increased by chemical treatment using sodium hydroxide or ammonia. Especially, because nitrogen content of by-products increase and toxic problem is not posed by ammonia treatment, it's practical usage is recommended in Korea. Silage or fermentation treatment using principles of microbial fermentation may improve palatability of low quality by-products. As mentioned above, it is concluded that various treatments suggested are desirable and improve feed value but may raise several problems. Unfortunately, because cost for installation and products is great and processing work is complicate, farmers are not using well these processing methods until now. Therefore, in order to increase the practical usage at farm level, it is thought that many research works be achieved for efficient process which have simple operation and low installation cost.

Scheduling for Mixed-Model Assembly Lines in JIT Production Systems (JIT 생산 시스템에서의 혼합모델 조립라인을 위한 일정계획)

  • This study is concerned with the scheduling problem for mixed-model assembly lines in Just-In-Time(JIT) production systems. The most important goal of the scheduling for the mixed-model assembly line in JIT production systems is to keep a constant rate of usage for every part used by the systems. In this study, we develop two heuristic algorithms able to keep a constant rate of usage for every part used by the systems in the single-level and the multi-level. In the single-level, the new algorithm generates sequence schedule by backward tracking and prevents the destruction of sequence schedule which is the weakest point of Miltenburg's algorithms. The new algorithm gives better results in total variations than the Miltenburg's algorithms. In the multi-level, the new algorithm extends the concept of the single-level algorithm and shows more efficient results in total variations than Miltenburg and Sinnamon's algorithms.

Neural Netwotk Analysis of Acoustic Emission Signals for Drill Wear Monitoring

  • The objective of the proposed study is to produce a tool-condition monitoring (TCM) strategy that will lead to a more efficient and economical drilling tool usage. Drill-wear monitoring is an important attribute in the automatic cutting processes as it can help preventing damages of the tools and workpieces and optimizing the tool usage. This study presents the architectures of a multi-layer feed-forward neural network with back-propagation training algorithm for the monitoring of drill wear. The input features to the neural networks were extracted from the AE signals using the wavelet transform analysis. Training and testing were performed under a moderate range of cutting conditions in the dry drilling of steel plates. The results indicated that the extracted input features from AE signals to the supervised neural networks were effective for drill wear monitoring and the output of the neural networks could be utilized for the tool life management planning.

  • KDC(Korea Decimal Classification), which is representative literature classification scheme in Korea, was revised and published in 1996. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a reform measure after detecting out issues and problems associated with the KDC 4th ed. through the result of lecture. The outline of suggestions are as follows : (1) There are not all items of auxiliary tables in relative index. (2) Auxiliary table 2 (Geographic Areas) is not detailed. (3) The manual for the shake of efficient usage is nonexistent and notes are poor in content. (4) Sufficient minimax and alternatives must be setted up for efficiency usage. (5) Some parts of the main schedule are disorder and not logical.

  • In order to control the flow of traffics in ATM networks and optimize the usage of network resources, an efficient control mechanism is necessary to cope with congestion and prevent the degradation of network performance caused by congestion. This paper proposes a new UPC(Usage Parameter Control) mechanism that varies the token generation rate and the buffer threshold of leaky bucket by using a Neural Network controller observing input buffers and token pools, thus achieving the improvement of performance. Simulation results show that the proposed adaptive algorithm uses of network resources efficiently and satisfies QoS for the various kinds of traffics.

  • The availability of the thermal energy has been deeply recognized recently to encourage the cascade usage of thermal energy from combustion. Within the frame work, a 1 kW class Stirling engine based cogeneration system has been proposed for a unit of a distributed energy system. The capacity has been designed to be adequate for the domestic usage, which requires high compactness as well as low emission and noised. To develop a highly efficient system with satisfying these requirements, a premixed slot flame burner has been proposed and a series of numerical simulation has been performed to establish a design tool for the combustion chamber. The thermal radiation model has been found to highly affect the computational results and a proper resolution to analyze the heat transfer characteristics of the high temperature heat exchanger. Finally, the combustion characteristics of the premixed flame with the metal fiber type burner has been studied.

  • The objective of the study is to construct a sensor fusion system for tool-condition monitoring (TCM) that will lead to a more efficient and economical drill usage.   • Unlike the traditional databases, queries on XML streams are restricted to a real time processing and memory usage. In this paper, a robust labeling scheme is proposed, which quickly identifies structural relationship between XML fragments. The proposed labeling scheme provides an effective query processing by removing many redundant operations and minimizing the number of fragments being processed. In experimental results, the proposed labeling scheme efficiently processes query processing and optimizes memory usage.

  • As far as recent investment in railway, disused railway yards is increased in each line and region. As a result, the interest of the related local government and agencies has increased on utilizing disused railway yards. In this study, we investigated the status of the disused railway yards and conducted legal review on the use of disused railway yards. In addition, we analyzed the disused railway yards use practices through case analysis and also suggested plans to diversify the ways of their usage.

  • The system facilities in mobile communications networks are mainly classified into the coverage and usage in the viewpoint of the investments requirements. Based on the classification criterion, the interconnection charging between the wired operators art wireless operators is determined. In this paper, to decide the scale of the interconnection charging a new classification method is proposed by using the system capacity(Erlang, throughput) and subscriber`s estimated demand. The coverage ratio is first evaluated for each facility, and then more efficient interconnection charging model will be presented.
