The aim of this study Is to develop a simple and fast method which computes in-vivo doses from transmission doses measured doting patient treatment using an ionization chamber. Energy fluence and the dose that reach the chamber positioned behind the patient is modified by three factors: patient attenuation, inverse square attenuation. and scattering. We adopted a straightforward empirical approach using a phantom transmission factor (PTF) which accounts for the contribution from all three factors. It was done as follows. First of all, the phantom transmission factor was measured as a simple ratio of the chamber reading measured with and without a homogeneous phantom in the radiation beam according to various field sizes($r_p$), phantom to chamber distance($d_g$) and phantom thickness($T_p$). Secondly, we used the concept of effective field to the cases with inhomogeneous phantom (patients) and irregular fields. The effective field size is calculated by finding the field size that produces the same value of PTF to that for the irregular field and/or inhomogeneous phantom. The hypothesis is that the presence of inhomogeneity and irregular field can be accommodated to a certain extent by altering the field size. Thirdly, the center dose at the prescription depth can be computed using the new TMR($r_{p,eff}$) and Sp($r_{p,eff}$) from the effective field size. After that, when TMR(d, $r_{p,eff}$) and SP($r_{p,eff}$) are acquired. the tumor dose is as follows. $$D_{center}=D_t/PTF(d_g,\;T_p){\times}(\frac{SCD}{SAD})^2{\times}BSF(r_o){\times}S_p(r_{p,eff}){\times}TMR(d,\;r_{p,eff})$$ To make certain the accuracy of this method, we checked the accuracy for the following four cases; in cases of regular or irregular field size, inhomogeneous material included, any errors made and clinical situation. The errors were within 2.3% for regular field size, 3.0% irregular field size, 2.4% when inhomogeneous material was included in the phantom, 3.8% for 6 MV when the error was made purposely, 4.7% for 10 MV and 1.8% for the measurement of a patient in clinic. It is considered that this methode can make the quality control for dose at the time of radiation therapy because it is non-invasive that makes possible to measure the doses whenever a patient is given a therapy as well as eliminates the problem for entrance or exit dose measurement.

The effects of small hole defect size and effective case depth(ECD) on the four point bending fatigue limit of induction surface hardened S45C steel were investigated the fatigue limit evaluation of hardened materials is very difficult because of relations of the hardness gradient and residual stress. In this study, it was possible to characterize fatigue limit and fatigue life of induction surface hardened S45C steel in terms of the hole defect size and effective case depth(ECD) and quantitative evaluation of the fatigue limit with hole defects use Murakami's evaluation method and the range of evaluated values is a good accuracy compared with results.

The purpose of this research was to analyze the effects of smart learning. By using meta analysis method, twenty MA and Ph.D degree papers published from 2006 to 2013 were analyzed and 104 effect sizes were calculated. Followings were the results of the research: (a) Smart learning turned out to be more statistically effective comparing to traditional education. The total mean effect size was .886 and the value of U3 was 66.53%. (b) All effect size of sub dependent variables(ie, academic achievement, learning satisfaction, learning attitude) were also effective by adapting smart learning. (c) The moderated variables likes learner characteristics, learning content, and interaction had high effect sizes. Operation system variable had a low effect size but it was not significant.
The conductivity of the electrolyte used plays a critical role in the optimization of the performance of electrochemical double layer capacitors. However, when the difference in the conductivities of different electrolytes is not significant (only 10-20%), the conductivity has little effect on the capacitance. On the other, unlike the conductivity and viscosity of the electrolyte, the cation size directly influences the capacitance. Cyclic ions have a smaller effective radius than that of the corresponding acyclic ions because the acyclic alkyl groups have a greater number of conformational degrees of freedom, such as the rotational, bending, and stretching modes. Consequently, because of the smaller effective size of the cyclic ions, cells containing electrolytes with such ions exhibit higher capacitances than do those with their acyclic counterparts.

In the determination of suitable frame sizes associated with dynamic framed slotted Aloha used in radio frequency identification tag identification processes, the widely imposed constraint $L=2^Q$ often yields inappropriate values deviating far from the optimal values, while a straightforward use of the estimated optimal frame sizes causes frequent restarts of read procedures, both resulting in long identification delays. Taking a trade-off, in this paper, we propose a new method for determining effective frame sizes where the effective frame size changes in a multiple of a predetermined step size, namely ${\Delta}$. Through computer simulations, we show that the proposed scheme works fairly well in terms of identification delay.

The purpose of this study is to find factors to affect on the formation of semantic relation from terminology and what is to be affected by these factors to build the database scheme of terminology dictionary by a structural definition. In this research, 826,905 keywords of 88,874 social science articles and 985,580 keywords of 125,046 humanities science articles in the KCI journals from 2007 to 2011 were collected. From collected data, subject complexity, structural hole, term frequency, occurrence pattern and an effect between the number of nodes and the number of patterns which were derived from the semantic relation of linked terms of established 'STNet' System were analyzed. The summarized results from analyzed data and network patterns are as follows. Betweenness Centrality, term frequency, and effective size affect the numbers of semantic relation node. Among these factors, betweenness centrality was the most effective and effective size. But term frequency was the least effective. Betweenness Centrality, term frequency, and effective size affect the numbers of semantic relation type. Term frequency is the most effective. Therefore, when building a terminology dictionary, factors of betweenness centrality, term frequency, effective size, and complexity of subject are needed to select term. As a result, these factors can be expected to improve the quality of terminology dictionary.
Radiation characteristics of a probe-fed rectangular microstrip patch antenna printed on a finite grounded high permittivity substrate are investigated systematically for various square grounded dielectric substrate sizes with several thicknesses and dielectric constants by experiment and full wave simulation. The effect of the substrate size on the radiation characteristics of a rectangular patch antenna is mainly determined by the effective dielectric constant of surface waves on a grounded dielectric substrate. As the effective dielectric constant of surface waves increases, the substrate sizes for the maximum broadside gain and the required onset for a large magnitude of squint angle decrease, while the variations of the broadside gain, the front-to-back ratio, and the magnitude of squint angle versus the substrate size increase due to the increase of the power of the surface wave.
In this paper, the structure of CMAC address mapping is first revisited, and the address hashing function and the random mapping is discussed in the conventional CMAC implementation. Then the effective size of CMAC memory is derived from the modulus property of the CMAC address vector, and a new hashing function for the effective memory mapping is proposed for a CMAC implementation with feasible memory size and no troublesome random mapping. Finally, the performance of the conventional CMAC learning algorithm and that of the proposed new CMAC scheme arc compared via simulations.

In this paper, we proposed an analytical model for TFT which has series of the polycrystalline structures. An average speed is defined as carrier speed by the electric field. The effective square is suggested as the area of grain without depletion for the changed grain size. First, physical parameters such as grain size, channel lenght and trap density, have been changed to prove the validity of the average speed model and the value of the effective square has been estimated through drain-source current.

Recently, the use of C.S.G is gradually increasing as the construction material for dam, road, revetment and so on. The strength characteristics of C.S.G is affected by various influence factors such as specimen size, maximum grain size and water contents. Therefore, When designing and constructing the C.S.G structure, it is very important for us to understand the nature of used materials well and to test it's quality. Commonly, C.S.G strength test is used the cylinders specimen size of $15{\times}30$ at KS F2405. But, the specimen size extracted from the field structure is not regular. This paper aims at offering the experimental data about the compressive strength and elasticity modulus by change of the specimen size for the effective quality control of the C.S.G structure.
