저속 디젤기관에서 고팽창의 밀러방식에 의한 사이클 해석 및 흡기밸브제어에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Cycle Analyzing and Intake Valve Control by the Miller Method with a High Expansion into Low-Speed Diesel Engine)

  • 최근, 디젤기관의 고효율달성을 위한 방법으로 밀러방식의 고팽창사이클에 대한 연구가 관심이 높다. 본 연구에서는 고팽창 디젤사이클을 구성하여 열역학적으로 해석하고, 몇몇 인자에 의한 사이클 특성을 분석하였다. 이론해석 결과 흡기밸브 닫힘시기가 지각될수록 유효압축비의 감소로 상대적인 팽창비의 효과는 커져 팽창-압축비의 비는 기대할 수 있었으나, 압축압력 및 흡입공기의 역류로 인해 평균유효 압력과 출력의 감고를 수반하였다. 따라서 이에 대한 대책이 있어야 진정한 의미의 고팽창 디젤사이클이 실현되고 열효율향상 가능성이 있음이 확인되었다. 위와 같은 사이클을 실제기관으로부터 구현하기 위해 흡기밸브 닫힘시기를 늦게 하는 제어시스템을 구축하고, 시험을 위해서 S/B가 약 3인 저속 단기통 디젤기관에 가변밸브타이밍(VVT)시스템을 적용하여 성능을 평가하였다. 그 결과 시험기관의 밸브제어에는 큰 문제없는 것으로 평가되었다.

  • HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) combustion has a great advantage in reducing NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) and PM (Particulate Matter) by lowering the combustion temperature due to spontaneous ignitions at multiple sites in a very lean combustible mixture. However, it is difficult to make a diesel-fuelled HCCI possible because of a poor vaporability of the fuel. To resolve this problem, the two-stage injection strategy was introduced to promote the ignition of the extremely early injected fuel. The compression ratio and air-fuel ratio were found to affect not only the ignition, but also control the combustion phase without a need for the intake-heating or EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). The ignition timing could be controlled even at a higher compression ratio with increased IMEP (Indicated Mean Effective Pressure). The NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) emission level could be reduced by more than 90 % compared with that in a conventional DI (Direct Injection) diesel combustion mode, but the increase of PM and HC (Hydrocarbon) emissions due to over-penetration of spray still needs to be resolved.

Investigation of 1D sand compression response using enhanced compressibility model

  • 1D sand compression response to ko-loading experiences volume contraction from low to high effective stress regimes. Previous study suggested compressibility model with physically correct asymptotic void ratios at low and high stress levels and examined only for both remolded clays and natural clays. This study extends the validity of Enhanced Terzaghi model for different sand types complied from 1D compression data. The model involved with four parameters can adequately fit 1D sand compression data for a wide stress range. The low stress obtained from fitting parameters helps to identify the initial fabric conditions. In addition, strong correlation between compressibility and the void ratio at low stress facilitates determination of self-consistent fitting parameters. The computed tangent constrained modulus can capture monotonic stiffening effect induced by an increase in effective stress. The magnitude of tangent stiffness during large strain test should not be associated with small strain stiffness values. The use of a single continuous function to capture 1D stress-strain sand response to ko-loading can improve numerical efficiency and systematically quantify the yield stress instead of ad hoc methods.

디젤 엔진 연료 분사 타이밍 구간에서의 흡기 포트 스월비 1D 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 (1D Computer Simulation of Diesel Engine Intake Port Swirl Ratios Considering the Fuel Injection Timing Range)

  • This study was performed to calculate the swirl ratio of a diesel engine intake port by a 1D computer simulation under actual engine operating conditions. The swirl ratio of the intake port was simulated according to the change of the engine speed during the operation of the motoring without fuel injection. The swirl ratio of the intake port was simulated according to changes in the crank angle during the four-cycle operation of intake, compression, expansion and exhaust. The swirl ratio represented by the three regions of the piston, center and squish was simulated. Among the three regions, the piston-region swirl ratio is important for effective air-fuel mixing in the engine cylinder. In particular, it was confirmed during the simulation that the piston swirl ratio before and after the compression top dead center (TDC) point when fuel is injected in the DI diesel engine can have a significant effect on the mixing of air and fuel. It was desirable to set the average piston swirl ratio over a crank angle section before and after compression TDC as the representative swirl ratio of the cylinder head intake port according to the change of the engine speed.

의료영상 압축을 위한 JPEG2000의 효율성 연구 (A Study on the Effectiveness of JPEG2000 for Medical Image Compression)

  • Purpose : In a PACS(Picture Archiving Communications System) environment, which is a very important component in a digital medical environment, the compression of digital medical images is a necessary and effective feature. In a current system where JPEG is applied to the compression of medical images, this study is to examine effectiveness and suitability when the JPEG2000, a more advanced compression algorithm for still images, is applied to the compression of medical images. In this thesis, we attempt to address the compressibility for effective clinical usage when compressing medical images, applying the objectivization of clinical evaluation as a function of compressibility. In the experiment al method, the compression was applied at a fixed rate using JPEG2000, and the n the result was compared with compressed images by JPEG. Method : For the performance evaluation, we choose SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) measurement of an objective evaluation of definition and analyze a subjective evaluation by the ROC(Receiver Operating Characteristic) method. The results of the experiment showed that in the case of JPEG2000 there is hardly any distortion of images, even at high compression ratio(100:1), while regarding noise, the SNR remains around about 40dB, which is also relatively high. Before reading by reference to evaluative materials concerning objective compressed images, it is impossible to apply high compression to images : however, after reading, this can be applied to images that have already existed for some time.

Lateral strain-axial strain model for concrete columns confined by lateral reinforcement under axial compression

  • The use of lateral reinforcement in confined concrete columns can improve bearing capacity and deformability. The lateral responses of lateral reinforcement significantly influence the effective confining pressure on core concrete. However, lateral strain-axial strain model of concrete columns confined by lateral reinforcement has not received enough attention. In this paper, based on experimental results of 85 concrete columns confined by lateral reinforcement under axial compression, the effect of unconfined concrete compressive strength, volumetric ratio, lateral reinforcement yield strength, and confinement type on lateral strain-axial strain curves was investigated. Through parameter analysis, it indicated that with the same level of axial strain, the lateral strain slightly increased with the increase in the unconfined concrete compressive strength, but decreased with the increase in volumetric ratio significantly. The lateral reinforcement yield strength had slight influence on lateral strain-axial strain curves. At the same level of lateral strain, the axial strain of specimen with spiral was larger than that of specimen with stirrup. Furthermore, a lateral strain-axial strain model for concrete columns confined by lateral reinforcement under axial compression was proposed by introducing the effects of unconfined concrete compressive strength, volumetric ratio, confinement type and effective confining pressure, which showed good agreement with the experimental results.

X-브레이싱의 면외 유효 좌굴길이 계수 (Out-of-Plane Effective Length Factor of X-Bracing System)

  • 본 연구에서는 X-브레이싱 접합부의 경계조건에 따른 탄성 면외 좌굴하중 및 유효 좌굴길이 계수에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. X-브레이싱의 접합부는 연결방법에 따라 강접합 혹은 단순 연결로 가정할 수 있으며, 이러한 접합부의 경계 조건은 X-브레이싱의 좌굴하중에 영향을 미친다. 본 연구에서는 접합부의 경계 조건에 따른 X-브레이싱의 면외 유효 좌굴길이 계수들을 유도 하였으며, 면외 유효 좌굴계수들은 압축부재와 인장부재의 길이비 $L_P$/$L_T$, 인장력과 압축력의 비 T/P, 및 인장부재와 압축부재의 Euler 좌굴하중의 비 $P_{ET}$/$P_{EP}$의 함수로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 기존 연구자들 및 유한요소해석결과와 비교 분석하여 그 타당성과 적용성을 검증하였다. 마지막으로 유도된 면외 유효 좌굴길이 계수들을 비교하여 접합부의 경계 조건이 X-브레이싱의 면외 좌굴하중에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

  • Automobile companies and research institutions in leading automobile-manufacturing nations have recently been very active with research regarding the HCCI engine for use in future vehicles. Because HCCI engines take advantage of high compression ratio and heat release rate, they exhibit high efficiency found in compression ignition engines. HCCI engines also utilize a lean air/fuel ratio resulting in low emissions of NO$_{x}$ and PM (particulate matter). The objective of this research is to determine the effects of EGR rate on the combustion processes of HCCI. for this purpose, a 4-cylinder, compression ignition engine was converted into a HCCI engine, and a heating device was installed to raise the temperature of the intake air and also to make it more consistent. In addition, a pressure sensor was inserted into each of the cylinders to investigate the differences in characteristics among the cylinders. The experimental study of the effects of EGR rate on various gas emissions, engine performance, etc. should prove to be a valuable source of information for the development of the HCCI engine.e.

영상 통신을 위한 웨이블릿 변환 부호화 (Wavelet Transform Coding for Image Communication)

  • 본 논문은 동영상을 효과적으로 부호화하기 위한 새로운 방법에 관하여 연구한 것이다. 움직임 정보를 이용하여 기준 프레임 영상과 상관관계가 적은 프레임 영상에서는 화질을 보장하고, 기준 프레임 영상과 상관관계가 많은 프레임 영상에서는 전체 동영상의 비트율을 보장하는 픽쳐 셋 필터를 제안하였다. 실험 결과, 제안한 동영상 부호화 방법은 기존의 전영역 탐색 블럭 정합 알고리즘에 비하여, 화질은 8.99dB이 향상되고, 압축률은 14.85배가 증가되었으며, 부호화시간은 74.9%가 단축되었다. 그리고, 차영상 알고리즘에 비하여, 화질은 24.87dB이 떨어졌으나, 압축률은 41.94배가 증가하였으며, 부호화시간은 0.9%가 단축됨으로써 좋은 성능을 나타냄을 확인하였다.

합성가스/디젤 혼소압축착화 엔진의 합성가스 혼합비와 압축비에 따른 연소 및 배출가스 특성 (Syngas/Diesel Dual Fuel Combustion in a Compression Ignition Engine with Different Composition Ratios of Syngas and Compression Ratios)

  • Syngas is widely produced by incomplete combustion of coal, water vapor, and air (oxygen) in a high-temperature/high-pressure gasifier through a coal-gasification process for power generation. In this study, a simulation syngas which was mainly composed of $H_2$, CO, $CO_2$, and $N_2$ was fueled with diesel. A modified single cylinder compression ignition (CI) engine is equipped with intake port syngas supply system and mechanical diesel direct injection system for dual fuel combustion. Combustion and emission characteristics of the engine were investigated by applying various syngas composition ratios and compression ratios. Diesel fuel injection timing was optimized to increase indicated thermal efficiency (ITE) at the engine speed 1,800 rpm and part load net indicated mean effective pressure ($IMEP_{net}$) 2 to 5 bar. ITE of the engine increased with the $H_2$ concentration, compression ratio and engine load. With 45% of $H_2$ concentration, compression ratio 17.1 and $IMEP_{net}$ 5 bar, ITE of 41.5% was achieved, which is equivalent to that of only diesel fuel operation.
