  • The difference between "open" mathematics education and education of "open mathematics" arises from the difference of tearcher's understanding on the meaning of "teaching and learning mathematics" in the paper. Discusses the agreements and the worries of the researchers, the teachers, the students in korea, about open educationism, firstly, Three practical cases in mathematics lesson in korea are reviewed and analyzed in the respect of learning principles, secondly. Thirdly, the paper examines how to be modified two main learning principles, individualised learning and self-regulation of learning by teachers in the process of instruction. Finally, open mathematics advocated by Fisher(1984) and closed mathematics are compared especially in the probability unit. It concludes that the open approaches in mathematics lessons in korea need to improve with respect to teacher's attitude for didactic contents or mathematical knowledge. It is argued that teacher's open or flexible understanding of mathematical knowledge is no less important than that of their pupils.ant than that of their pupils.

  • The researcher compared the curricula, the textbooks, the methods of didactic transposition, teacher practices of elementary and secondary mathematics education. The study reviewed several mathematics education theories in the aspect of the differences between the two levels. Findings from this study show a little difference between elementary and secondary mathematics education. There are special difficulties in didactic transposition in elementary mathematics education since it is so far from scientific mathematics. From this study we can conclude that further research needs to be done in the area of development of perspectives on elementary mathematics education.

  • Piaget's genetic epistemology has been known as the basis of the 'New Math' and as the opposite point of view to the historico-genetic principle. But these days Piaget's theory is considered to support the historico-genetic principle so that it influences many studies. This study shows the reason of the difference of interpretations of Piaget's theory.

  • Currently, the Ministry of Employment and Labor is strengthening monitor programs in regards to occupational industrial safety and health act compliance in business operations. However, industrial accidents occur persistently. Therefore, the study strives to diagnose and understand the issues in its educational stature, targeting managing supervisors in large scale shipbuilding industry whose completed the regular safety and health act sessions. This research considered a total of 3,252 employees whose completed theory-based cluster sessions for three months since February, 2016. The group is divided into two categories; 551 participants whose completed 8 hours of training and 2,701 participants whose completed 4 hours of training. Technical statistics were used to measure the knowledge of safety and health, educational environment, curriculum and educational effects on managing supervisors. A t-test was used to analyze the difference between the training hours. The result indicated that the target participants' knowledge on safety and health before the session was 50.24 points average (100 point scale), showing low standards in general. In depth analysis indicated that both 8 hours and 4 hours groups scored lowest in educational methods and communications between the lecturer and participants factors within the educational curriculum category. Meanwhile, transition in knowledge acquirement, work attitude, and work behaviors scored the highest in the analysis, showing a high satisfaction factors in educational effects. Therefore, the improvement in educational time and period can increase the efficacy of the educational programs. Also, theory-based cluster programs based on lectures suggests positive influence in knowledge acquirement and behavioral transitions.

  • In spite of various good functionalities and merits of educational software products, they are generally not used widely in school and home. One of these reasons is which many of the educational software products are developed by educational professionals without adequate consideration to the requirement of learners. So, in this paper, in order to see the degree of how much learner's requirement have been met in educational software products, we survey and analyze the evaluation criteria based on the adoption frequencies which have been searched out from domestic and foreign educational software evaluation tools. And, by the learner-centered survey, we compare and analyze the difference of quality estimation criteria for educational software between the viewpoints of students and the selected evaluation criteria treated as important in educational software evaluation tools.

  • This study examined the relations of educational level and life-style behaviors to the obesity. A total of 507 male adults aged 30 - 50 years completed the self-reported questionnaires. Educational level was used for measuring socioeconomic status. Activity at work, leisure-time activity and TV watching were measured for life-style behaviors related to physical activity, and some demographic and family history of disease as well. Subjects were categorized as obese when BMI was equal to or over 25kg/$m^2$, in which 19.7% resulted obesity. Using multivariate logistic regression, the association between the measured factors and obesity was assessed. The odds ratios (OR) for risk of obesity did not differ with either age or monthly income. Subjects who completed high school (OR = 0.36; 95% CI = 0.20 - 0.66) or university (OR = 0.34; 95% CI = 0.16 - 0.71) had lower risk of obesity than those with education below middle school. Those with moderate activity level at work (OR = 0.41; 95% CI = 0.24 - 0.72) showed lower risk of obesity than in inactive ones. The subjects watching TV more than 3.5 hr/day presented higher risk of obesity (OR = 2.46; 95% CI = 1.28 - 4.74), compared with those watching TV less than 1.5 hr/day. The higher risk of obesity observed in high level of leisure time activity than in low one was considered due to that physical activity at work and leisure-time might counteract each other. Educational level and activity at work or leisure-time activity or TV watching were jointed and categorized, and then OR for obesity was estimated. The extent of obesity risk at a given level of each work activity or leisure-time activity or TV watching was different depending the educational level, which was significantly high when educational level was below middle school. Educational difference had no effect on activity level at work. However, higher educational attainment increased the leisure activity and reduced TV watching (p<0.05), indicating that low education tended to contribute to more sedentary life-style. The findings of this study is concluded that low education was related to obesity in adult males, and its relation can partly be explained through acquiring inactive life-style behaviors. Individuals with low education might be more susceptible to the risk factors of obesity.
