부모의 양육효능감, 체벌지지도가 학령기 아동학대에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Parenting Self-efficacy and Belief in Corporal Punishment on Physical Abuse of Children in Korea)

  • Purpose: This survey was done to describe parenting self-efficacy and beliefs in corporal punishment as they are related to child abuse. Also demographic variables that influence child abuse were investigated. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted during the second week of April 2002. The 160 participants were parents of students in five elementary schools in the J area of Korea. They replied to a structured questionnaire, and 129 replies were included in the final analysis. The WIN SPSS program was used for the analysis. Result: Parenting self-efficacy, beliefs in corporal punishment and child abuse showed no significant differences according to gender of the children. Child abuse by parents has significantly negative correlation with parenting self-efficacy (r=-.369, p=.000), socioeconomic states of family(r=-.290, p=.001), educational level of mother(r=-.211, p=.027), educational level of father(r=-.342, p=.000), parent's age(r=-.200, p=.028). Stepwise multiple regression showed that parenting self-efficacy and beliefs in corporal punishment significantly influence child abuse in Korean parents. Conclusion: As parenting self-efficacy explained 49.7% of child abuse, it is the most important variable for preventing child abuse. Belief in corporal punishment was the second most important variable in preventing child abuse. These two variables explained 53.3% of variance in child abuse by parents.

The Net Generation Debate: Unpacking Individual Perceptions and Lived Experiences toward Technology Use in Education

  • This study aims to examine individual perceptions and lived experiences of the Net generation of student teachers and the previous generation of teachers about their technology use in education. The participants of this study include 106 pre-service teachers and 50 in-service teachers from one teacher education university in Korea. Employing a mixed methodology, we first empirically examined the participants' perceptions toward multiple variables related to technology use in education, namely (a) past ICT experiences in schools, (b) personal computer use, (c) constructivist belief, (d) computer efficacy, (e) attitude toward computer in education, and (f) prospective computer use. In addition, we conducted face-to-face interviews with selected participants for the in-depth investigation of their lived experiences about technology use, beliefs, and attitude. Results indicate that there are significant differences between in-service and pre-service teachers in their prior experiences with technology in schools. However, the pre-service and in-service teachers did not differ significantly in their beliefs, attitude and other technology-related variables, which may indicate the danger of generational determinism in the Net Generation debate. The analysis of interview narratives revealed two major themes about the interplay of one's agency and structural changes in the participants' lived experiences with technology use in education: (a) transition from negative past experiences to opportunities for positive computer use, and (b) attitudes formation and change through apprenticeship experiences and structural influences. In conclusion, this study suggests that the Net Generation debate should move beyond dichotomous or techno-centric thinking. There is a critical need to pay more attention to develop deeper understandings of the fundamental diversity existing within the generation itself. Implications for teacher education are also discussed.

Analysis of the Pedagogical Perspectives Represented in the Movie Dangerous Minds: Based on the Constructivist Framework

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze educational theories and practices represented in the movie Dangerous Minds. This paper begins by giving the overview of the movie. Then this paper makes an analysis of the pedagogical methods and practices used by the teacher in the movie, which can encourage students to fulfill their academic success and social mobility. The lives of students at risk are transformed through the teacher's beliefs and pedagogical practices based on the constructivism, leading students on a path of selfdiscovery and self-empowerment. What is imperative in the students' lives here is their intrinsic motivation and self-efficacy toward the self and their educational system. By providing constructivist pedagogical paradigms and viewing these media texts within the context of an urban school, this paper intends to introduce educational theories and methods which can create better educational environment for students. In short, this study explores teaching theories and methods represented in the movie based on the constructivist perspectives, which are supposed to fully cultivate the potential of students.

수업개선 관행공동체를 통한 교사의 변화 탐색: 수학 수업관행을 중심으로 (Exploring Teacher Change Through the Community of Practice Focused on Improving Mathematics Teaching)

  • 이 연구는 수학 수업개선에 초점을 맞춘 관행공동체의 형성과 참여를 통해서 교사들의 변화를 탐색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 수업개선 관행공동체를 통해서 교사들은 수학 수업에 관한 다양한 담론과 지식을 공유하게 되고 결과적으로 수학 수업전문성 신장을 위한 다양한 기회를 갖게 되었다. 이 연구에서는 교사들의 변화를 신념과 수업관행의 측면에서 접근하였다. 그 결과 아동들의 수학 학습방법에 대한 교사들의 신념 측면에서 지속가능한 수학 수업개선의 가능성을 보여 주었다. 또한, 수업관행의 변화 측면에서 교사들의 수학 수업이 학습자 중심 경향으로 변화하고 있는 것으로 드러났다. 이러한 변화는 설문분석에서뿐만 아니라 실제 수업분석 결과에서도 그대로 드러나고 있다. 결국 성공적이고 지속가능한 수학 수업의 변화를 위해서는 수업의 변화에 대한 가치 및 수학 교과와 관련된 전문적인 지식을 공유할 수 있는 환경이 조성되어야 함을 본 연구는 시사한다.

초등학교 예비교사의 과학 교수 목표 지향성과 교수 효능감 (The Preservice Elementary Teachers' Achievement Goal Orientations for Science Teaching and Their Science Teaching Efficacy Belief)

  • The preservice elementary teachers' achievement goal orientations(mastery/ability-approach/ability-avoidance/work-avoidance goal) for science teaching were measured. The student teachers(91 males and 127 females) tended to have the mastery or ability-approach goals rather than the ability-avoidance or work-avoidance goals for science teaching. The male students were more learning focused than were the females, while the female students reported stronger work-avoidance goal orientation than did the males. This study also examined how the preservice teachers' achievement goal orientations were related to their science teaching efficacy beliefs(personal science teaching efficacy belief/science teaching outcome expectancy). As expected, the results showed that there were significantly positive relationships between the mastery or ability-approach goals and science teaching efficacy beliefs, while the significantly negative relationships were found between the ability-avoidance or work-avoidance goal and personal science teaching efficacy belief. The educational implications and future directions were discussed.

MBTI 성격유형검사의 선호경향에 따른 보육교사의 교사신념과 자기효능감 (Childcare Teachers Educational Beliefs and Self-efficacy according to Psychological Preferences of the MBTI Test)

  • 본 연구는 MBTI 성격유형검사를 통해 보육교사의 주된 선호경향을 도출하고 교사의 선호경향과 교사신념이 자기효능감에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위해 실시되었다. 어린이집에 재직중인 보육교사 160명을 대상으로 설문지를 배포, 회수하였으며 최종 141부를 신뢰도 검증, 빈도분석, 독립표본 t-검증, Pearson의 상관관계, 단계적 중다회귀분석을 이용하여 분석하였다. 결과는 첫째, 보육교사의 MBTI 선호경향에 따라 자기효능감에 차이가 나타났으며, 둘째, 보육교사의 MBTI 선호경향과 교사신념 및 자기효능감 간의 관계에서 감각형(S)에 가까울수록 난이도가 쉬운 과제를 선호하는 경향이 있었으며, 사고형(T)에 가까울수록 행동주의 교사신념은 낮고 상호작용주의 교사신념은 높은 경향이 있으며, 자기조절효능감 및 전반적인 자기효능감이 높았다. 아울러 판단형(J)에 가까울수록 상호작용주의, 성숙주의 교사신념이 높고, 자기조절효능감도 높게 나타나는 경향이 있었다. 셋째, 보육교사의 MBTI 선호경향과 교사신념은 자기효능감에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 보육교사에게 우세하게 나타나는 MBTI 선호경향이 있으며, 특정한 MBTI 선호경향과 상호작용주의 교사신념이 교사의 자기효능감 증진에 도움이 된다는 것을 시사한다.

남자 청소년을 둔 학부모 대상 HPV 및 HPV 백신 지식 관련 교육 전후 지식과 태도의 변화: 서울시 동대문구 지역을 중심으로 (An Increase in HPV-related Knowledge and Vaccination Beliefs Among Parents of Adolescent Sons in Dongdaemon-gu, Seoul, Korea)

  • Background and objectives: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection globally and is responsible for multiple clinical outcomes, including genital warts and cervical, anal, and oropharyngeal cancers. Despite the well established burden of HPV on both men and women, vaccine uptake among men is critically low in Korea. A preliminary step to combat this issue is to target parents of male adolescents. In the present study, we aimed to assess any change observed in parents' HPV knowledge and attitudes towards male HPV and subsequent willingness to vaccinate their sons following an HPV educational intervention. Methods: On November 14, 2020, a one-time HPV educational session was conducted and parents (n=136) completed self-administered pre-/post-test questionnaires that included previously validated survey items. Paired t-tests were used to evaluate change in HPV-related knowledge, attitudes and intent for HPV vaccination. Results: Following the intervention, participants reported increased scores in HPV and vaccine related knowledge by approximately 4 and 1.5 points, respectively (p<.001). Parents scored higher on perceived benefits of the vaccine, perceived social influence on vaccination decision and perceived severity of diseases caused by HPV infections, whereas lower scores were observed for perceived harm of the vaccine, and difficulties communicating with their sons about sex and HPV vaccination. Following the intervention, those without the intent to vaccinate their sons significantly decreased and those who intended to vaccinate their sons though not in the next six months significantly increased (χ2=33.045, p<.001) Conclusion: Our educational intervention resulted in an increase in HPV-related knowledge with a positive impact on parents' attitudes toward male HPV vaccination. We expect that this study can serve as a pivotal reference to promote the unexplored issue of HPV vaccination among male adolescents in Korea.

간호학생이 인지하는 성(Sexuality)건강 간호 장애 요인 : 성 태도와 신념에 관한 연구 (Nursing Student's Perceptions of Barriers on Sexuality : Sexuality Attitudes and Beliefs Survey)

  • 성 건강은 인간 삶의 핵심적인 영역으로 최근 간호 실무에서 성 건강 사정과 상담은 간호사의 중요한 역할이 되었다. 본 연구는 성 건강 간호 수행과 연관되어 간호학생이 느끼는 성 건강 간호의 중요성과 어려움, 성 건강 간호에 대한 자신감의 정도를 나타내는 간호학생의 성 태도와 신념을 조사하고 연령, 성별, 교육과 같은 인구사회학적 특성이 성 태도와 신념에 영향을 미치는지 파악하고자 시도하였다. 연구 대상자는 4년제 간호학과 3학년 이상 학생으로 임상실습 경험이 있는 214명을 대상으로 하였으며 수집된 자료는 SPSS win 18.0을 이용하여 백분율, 평균과 표준편차, t-test, ANOVA로 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과, 성 태도와 신념은 평균 44.9점으로 성 건강 관련 간호 수행에 상당히 어려움을 있으며, 성 건강 간호에 필요한 시간을 만들지 않으며(86.9%), 환자의 성 문제를 다루는 자신의 능력을 확신하지 못한다고 인지하는 것(76.2%)이 가장 큰 장애요인으로 나타났다. 간호학생의 인구사회학적 특성 중 성별(p=0.03)과 종교(p=0.02)에 따라 성 태도와 신념에 차이가 있었다. 본 연구를 통하여 간호학생들에게 성 건강 간호의 중요성을 인식하는 계기를 마련하고 성 건강 간호 관련 교육과정 개발에 기초자료로 활용될 수 있기를 기대한다.

고혈압 환자와 정상 성인의 나트륨 섭취 및 이에 영향을 미치는 사회심리적 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study of Sodium Consumption and Related Psychosocial Factors among Hypertensive and Norma Adults)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate sodium consumption and related psychosocial factors among hypertensive patients and normal adults through questionnaire development. The Theory of Planned Behavior provided the basis for the study. The mean blood pressure of subjects was 117. 1 mmHg/78.55mgHg in normal adults(N-218), 159.65mmHg/102.05mmHg(systolic/diastolic) in hypertensive group(N=219) and the sodium consumption was 5219.4${\pm}$1821.3mg in normal adults and 4631.4${\pm}$1749.1mg in hypertensive group. The results of Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that the odds of being hypetensive group were increasd as subjects felt that dalty food (OR=1.5) (OR=0.8). The odds of beign hypertensive group increased as subject received more support. With respect to perceived control, the odds of being hypertensive group were increased as subjects felt more confident in contolling salty intake when spouse likes to take salty food(OR=1.4). In contrast, subjects felt less confident in contolling sodium consumption when they took medicine(OR=0.8). Study findings revealed that all three factors, attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived control contributed to the model for explaining intentions, with subjective norms being most important. This findings provided the empirical evidence for the TPB in explaining salt intake. This study suggest that educational interventions for hypertension patients focus on changing sodium consumption through changing attitude toward high sodium consumption, subjective norms, perceived control over reducing sodium consumption of specific situations, specially subjective norms and perceived control. In addition, interventions may include strategies to change attitudes toward sodium consumption by helping hypertensive patients realize negative beliefs and modifying positive beliefs and to elicit and maintain subjective norm from doctors, family and neighbors, and to increase control beliefs for reducing sodium consumption.(Korean J Nutrition 33(8) : 833-839, 2000)

협동학습에서의 초등학생 수학적 신념 및 태도 변화 연구 (The Inquiry of Change of Mathematical Beliefs and Attitude in Elementary Cooperative Learning Class.)

  • 본 연구는 STAD를 기반으로 하는 협동학습 구조를 초등 수학 교실에 적용하면서 학생들의 수학적 신념 및 태도 변화 과정을 살펴보고, 수학 학습의 인지적·정의적 측면에 기여할 수 있는 협동학습 운영 방안을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 읍·면 소재지에 위치한 농촌 학교의 5학년 24명을 대상으로 협동학습을 적용하면서 수학적 신념 및 태도 검사, 면담, 보충질문 등을 실시하였으며, 학생들은 '협동학습의 필요성', '비판적 사고', '타인의 생각 수용' 등의 신념에서 의미 있는 변화를 보여주었다. 한편, STAD 협동학습에서는 모둠 내 모든 구성원들이 오류를 인식하지 못하고 학습을 마칠 가능성이 있는데 이를 방지하기 위해 '통신사' 파견을 제안하였고, 학생들이 모둠 활동에 만족하지 못할 경우 모둠을 재편성해야 하는데 이 때 고려해야 할 점과 모둠 재구성의 구체적인 방안을 제시하였다.
