  • The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument for analysing elementary secondary school, and university science laboratory instructions. The categories of this analysis instrument were instituted through literature overviews and interactions with three researchers in a science classroom analyst team, a doctoral student, and eight master level students, who participated in the process of modification of the analysis instruments on the science laboratory instructions. The contents areas were divided into three categories: aims of laboratory activities, interactions, and scientific inquiry processes. Each category contains $2\~3$ items. So the instrument consisted of 20 subcategories. The validity of the this instrument was achieved through checking with 4 science education specialists.

  • This research aims to improve the environmental education for elementary student's education program. That let environmental education be connected to other curriculum with a compunction enhancement plan to the internal volume side of environmental education, and grope for activation of compunction environmental education with curriculum necessary paradigm conversion of education for continuance possibility in green education. In case of legal and system, improving of legal and system by establishment of the environmental education act for system repair and source of revenue preparation of environmental education is needed. Based on importance of teaching-education and evaluation, it must be developed various teaching-education ways of environmental education in case of curriculum and an improvement of teaching-education ways and evaluation must be performed. After teaching-education about environmental education has been executed, a teaching-education improvement must be performed by evaluation.

  • The purposes of this study were to explore what components of science communication and its level are contained in text panels of exhibitions in natural history museums and to propose its development direction of exhibition education in Korea. First, to find out the component and level of science communication contained in exhibition panels, the researcher team developed the analyzing tool which was called SEPAT (Science Exhibition Panel Analyzing Tool), then employed them to profile the component and level of science communication. Second, the researchers introduced the exemplary designed media of exhibitions to demonstrate how much science communication could be enhanced. The results were made as follows. First, the components of science communication was considerably weighted toward to 'concept' one. There were also a few 'awareness' and 'engagement', both of which were under 5% in each zone of exhibition and there was not 'NOSI' or 'opinion' embedded in the analyzed exhibitions. Second, the various type of designing exhibitions were found to promote or enhance the restrictedly represented components of science communication. It is suggestable for exhibitions to be designed through various type of 'media' to enhance science communication. Visitors are required to experience rich science communication to meet their educational needs, and exhibition developers in natural history museums and other museums are recommended to be professional in containing all components of science communication through various type of designing exhibitions.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare and analyse the subject organization and teaching units of middle school science curriculums and science textbooks, by studying the organization of subject matter and content scope and level of middle school science subject in South and North Korea. As a result of this study, the composition, scope, and level of content between middle school science textbooks in South and North Korea were similar. However, the study found that science education objectives, separated science curriculum subject organization, economical efficiency weighted format and organization of science subject matter, result-centered experiments, the enlightenment of Kim Ilsung and his son in North Korea science education were very far from the desirable direction of science education. Therefore, the view on level-based curriculum and organization of the science curriculum should be integrated, and preparation of student-centered organization of textbooks and expansion of science-technology-society content is needed before unification. And also, the united Korea science curriculum shouldn't simply compromise or neutralize between middle school science curriculum in South and North Korea. They should make a future-oriented plan for information and globalism society.

  • In this study, the ways to improve the processes of training, employing and retraining secondary science teachers were investigated by a survey method. Particularly, the following five aspects of the processes were questioned to three major groups of people relevant to school science. A total of 384 responses (from 156 university teachers, 168 secondary science teachers and 64 student teachers) were analyzed through the frequency-analysis and crosstab-analysis of SPSS/$PC^+$ programme. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: (1) middle-school science teachers and high-school science teachers are needed to be trained separately in different systems, (2) the proportions of the faculty members majoring science education and science studies in the departments for science education are needed to be increased, (3) the proportions of the courses related to science education and general sciences in university curriculum are need to be increased, (4) the period of teaching practice in schools during university time should be increased up to five or six weeks, (5) the proportions of science education and general sciences in the examination for science teachers' employment should be increased and the examination should have more subjective type questions, and (6) the programmes for retraining science teachers should have more contents on science education which are directly relevant to school science.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate middle school students' perceptions of private academy science education and of school science education in order to promote school science education. 180 middle school students who were taking a science class at a private academy were participated, and the short form of Classroom Environment Scale was implemented for the study. The results showed that the students went to an academy for supplementing school science or for getting a better grade in school. Some students, however, have different reason to go to an academy; they were kinds of silence-learners or received-learners rather than constructed-learners. That is, they didn't know how to and what to study. Students didn't have an opportunity to think scientifically and creatively from both academy and school science classes. They studied harder in science class at private academy than at school. Some students felt more favorable to and comfortable with academy teachers compare to school science teachers.

  • In this study, we have look through the national progress of computer science education in South Korea and analyzed the main subjects and contents of each period. We suggests the ways to evolve the current computer science education in terms of class hours for computer science education, hierarchical instructions, and the limitation of current national curriculum. In South Korea, it has been leaded the computer science education in the world since the it was promoted in earnest since 1995. Based on the recently revised national curriculum, South Korean government are taking efforts to nurture a leader through computer science education in terms of the students' future skills. However, it should be promoted to strengthen the ability of not only problem-solving ability through programming education, but also balanced computing and digital literacy through enhancing the ICT skills. In order to improve the curriculum of computer science education in elementary school of South Korea, a sufficient class hours of computer science education should be secured first.

  • In this study, various scientific viewpoints of 'motion of objects' were analyzed from the Aristoteles age to the Newton age. From the analysis, a questionnaire was developed which was including causes of motion, forms of motion, and preservation quantity of movement. The conceptions of pre-service science teachers were researched by the questionnaire developed in this study based on the science historical viewpoints. The subjects were twenty sophomore students of physic education major and thirty four of other science education major who majored common science education also in a college. Most of the pre-service teachers of physical education major had inertia and Newton's force conception related to the question situations of 'causes of motion' and 'forms of motion'. But a lot of the pre-service teachers of physic education major and other science education major had viewpoints of Descartes or Huygens related to the question situation of 'preservation quantity of movement'. Only few pre-service teachers regardless of major had Newton's viewpoint which represented in current Korean science curriculum for secondary school.
