Microgrid is a small-scale power system composed of distributed generators, energy storage system and loads, and can operate in the grid-connected mode and the islanded mode. This paper presents optimal design procedures for remote microgrid. The design program is based on the economic evaluations including the feasibility study module, optimal combination and allocation of DERs, power network design and the reduction of the GHG emmission. This program which is suggested in this paper shows good performance as a tool of remote microgrid design.

This paper is to propose various safety design models of tolerance specifications with different consumer requirements. In these models, tolerance specifications can be jointly determined by considering all the stochastic, economic, robust and engineering safety design factors with various characteristics of interest. In this paper, the proposed models are easily formulated for design engineers.

This article investigates economic-statistical design of VSSI(variable sampling size and interval) cause-selecting charts considering two assignable causes. We consider a process which is composed of two dependent sub-processes. In each sub-process, two kinds of assignable cause may exist. We propose a procedure for designing VSSI cause-selecting charts, based on Lorenzen and Vance model. Computational experiments show that the VSSI cause-selecting chart is superior to the FSSI cause-selecting chart in the economic-statistical characteristics, even under two assignable causes.

In this paper, a mathematical model is developed for economic design of multi-stage distribution system that consists of factory, central distribution centers, local distribution centers and retailers. The retailers are supplied products from different stage suppliers according to order size. The retailers are supplied products from factory if demand amount is large, central distribution center if medium, local distribution center if small. The economic design is to determine the economic size of facility factors that consist of distribution system. The cost factors are transportation cost from supply places to demand places, handling cost at distribution centers and inventory holding cost at retailers. It is to determine the transportation route of each retailer, the size and number of the vehicle at factory and distribution centers, the handling amount at distribution centers in order to minimize the total costs. The mathematical model is represented, the solution procedure is developed, and a numerical example is shown.

Today, the statistical process control (SPC) in manufacture environment is an important role at the process by the productivity improvement of the manufacturing systems. The control chart in this statistical method is widely used as an important statistical tool to find the assignable cause that provoke the change of the process parameters such as the mean of interest or standard deviation. But the traditional SPC don't grasp the change of process according to the points fallen the near control limits because of monitoring the variance of process such as the fixed sampling interval and the sample size and handle the cost of the aspect of these sample point. The control chart can be divided into the statistical and economic design. Generally, the economic design considers the cost that maintains the quality level of process. But it is necessary to consider the cost of the process improvement by the learning effects. This study does the economic design in the VSI $\bar X$ control chart and added the concept of loss function of Taguchi in the cost model. Also, we preyed that the VSI $\bar X$ control chart is better than the FSI $\bar X$ in terms of the economic aspects and proposed the standard of the process improvement using the VSI $\bar X$ control chart.

The traditional approach to economic design of control charts is based on the assumption that a process is monitored using a performance variable. However, various types of automatic test equipments recently introduced as a part of factory automation usually measure surrogate variables instead of performance variables that are costly to measure. In this article we propose a model for economic design of a control chart which uses a surrogate variable that is highly correlated with the performance variable. The optimum values of the design parameters are determined by maximizing the total average income per cycle time. Numerical studies are performed to compare the proposed $\bar{X}$ control charts with the traditional model using the examples in Panagos et al. (1985).

Cost containment has become high political issues since financial crisis of the Korean Health Insurance fund in 2000. Korean Government has developed and implemented several measures to reduce the pharmaceutical expenditures. Pharmaceutical economic evaluation can be a tool in decision to allocate scare resource efficiently. In order to increase the quality of economic evaluation for pharmaceuticals, the Korean Health Insurance Review Agency(HIRA) is considering the development of a guideline for economic evaluation. It mandates that pharmaceutical companies could submit the result of an economic evaluation when demanding reimbursement of new pharmaceutical drugs. The purpose of this study is to provide a critical review of the economic evaluations of health care technologies published in the Korean context whether they have been performed according to current guidelines and therefore whether their results are directly useful for decision making. We found there exist important problems and deviation from, good practice' both in the general features of the studies, like the study design and perspective, and in terms of cost measurement and valuation. There are needs to develop clear guidelines and to educate and train researchers in performing economic evaluations.

Recently, construction project has greatly increased the needs for cost savings due to excessive competition and economic recession. The purpose of this study is to introduce application of building using optimal design technique for improving constructability and economic efficiency of structural wall. As a results, design results of irregular wall show about 15% reduction of the longitudinal bar compared to single walls and ultimately improve constructability.

This paper describes to determine optimum main particulars of warships which satisfy user's requirements in a concept design stage with minimum construction cost and maximum transportation efficiency. Present worth was used as an assessment criteria of the economical efficiency. And Pareto optimal set was used to have the optimum design.
