친환경 옥상 도시농업 활성화를 위한 배식모형에 따른 가지(Solanum melongena)와 메리골드(Tagetes erecta) 식재효과 (Effect of Planting Patterns on the Cultivation of Eggplant (Solanum melongena) and Marigold (Tagetes erecta) for the Activation of Eco-Friendly Rooftop Urban Agriculture)

  • This study investigated the effects of various planting models on the joint cultivation of eggplant (Solanum melongena) and marigold (Tagetes erecta)to enhance sustainable rooftop urban farming. Rooftop agriculture is increasingly valued to boost the food supply and benefit the environment. Integrating such practices into urban planning is viewed as a way to sustainably manage resources and improve the food-energy-water cycle in cities. The experiment was conducted on a rooftop in Chungju, South Korea from May to August. Four different planting setups were used: central eggplant with peripheral marigold (SET), eggplant with a protective net (SIC), central marigold with peripheral eggplant (TES), and control with only eggplant (CON S). These models tested the effects of companion planting versus monoculture using a lightweight soil mix ideal for rooftops made from cocopeat and perlite and enriched with organic fertilizer. Measurements focused on soil conditions and plant health and assessed soil temperature, moisture, conductivity, plant height, width, and leaf size. The results indicated that the SET modelyielded the best growth. This setup benefited from marigold pest control properties and its ability to improve soil conditions by enhancing moisture and nutrient levels and aiding eggplant growth. These findings underscore the potential of mixed planting on rooftops and suggest that such approaches can be effectively incorporated into urban agriculture to boost yield and environmental sustainability. This study supports the idea that diverse planting methods can significantly affect plant growth and promote urban greening and food security.

사방댐의 유형별 경관선호 분석 (Study on Landscape Preference of Debris Barriers Types)

  • 본 연구는 시공 재료, 형태, 크기, 녹화수준이 서로 다른 사방댐에 대하여 일반인이 갖는 경관적 선호도를 조사하기 위하여 수행되었다. 분석자료 수집을 위해 2009년 12월 팔공산 방문자 122명을 대상으로 현장에서 설문조사를 실시하고, 동월 영남대학교 및 동아대학교 재학생 82명을 대상으로 강의실에서 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사결과 사방댐의 시공재료는 전석과 같은 자연 재료가 선호되었고, 사방댐 주변에 식생을 식재하는 것이 가장 선호되었다. 연구 결과는 사방댐 설치 시 친환경적인 시공재료와 시공방법이 단지 환경보전뿐만 아니라 방문자의 선호도를 높이는 데 중요하다는 것을 보여준다. 따라서 사방댐의 경관성을 높이기 위해서는 시공재료, 녹화방법, 사방댐 디자인, 규모 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 시공하여야 할 것이다.

친환경 벼 재배지에서 왕우렁이(Pomacea canaliculata) 안전사용을 위한 시기별 논 관리요령 (Seasonal Paddy Management Options for the Safe Use of Golden Apple Snails (Pomacea canaliculata) in Eco-friendly Rice Cultivation)

  • 본 연구는 친환경 벼 재배지에서 왕우렁이의 생태계 유출을 예방하며 논잡초 제거를 위하여 안전하게 사용할 수 있는 방법 개발을 위하여 2021년부터 2023년까지 3년 동안 연구하였다. 전남 남부지역에서 벼를 심은 후 논에 넣은 왕우렁이 치패는 7월 중순경 성패가 되어 산란을 시작한다. 이 개체는 물이 마르지 않은 배수로에서 월동할 수 있지만, 7월 중순 이후 부화한 개체는 월동할 수 있을 만큼 성장하지 못한다. 배수로에서 월동한 왕우렁이의 크기는 각고 2.5 cm 이상이었다. 입수구에 그물망을 설치하면 왕우렁이 유입을 95% 차단할 수 있었고, 배수구에 개량물꼬와 그물망 설치로 유출차단효과는 99%였다. 중간물떼기와 수확 전 논 건조할 때 동력논배토기로 물길을 만들었다. 물길에 유인되어 수거한 왕우렁이는 59.5%이었고, 물길조성과 왕우렁이 수거작업은 130분이 소요되었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 논에서 왕우렁이 안전사용을 위한 시기별 논 관리요령을 제시하였다. 이앙 전(4월 하순~5월 하순)에는 논둑정비, 입수구 물꼬차단망과 배수구 개량물꼬 설치, 월동 왕우렁이 방제, 이앙기(5월 하순~6월 상순)는 논둑에서 30 cm 안쪽으로 30일묘 이앙, 이앙 5일 후 치패 1.2 kg/10a 투입, 중간물떼기(7월 상중순)에는 물길 조성하여 왕우렁이 수거, 재배 후기(7월 하순~9월 중순) 수위 조절, 물길 조성하여 왕우렁이 수거 또는 유기농업자재 활용 방제, 수확 후(10월 중순~4월 중순)에는 논 깊이갈기 및 건조관리이다.

유기농업단지 주요경관요소의 경관형용사 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Landscape adjective characteristics for the Major Landscape Elements in Organic farming)

  • Up to date, the majority research on the major landscape elements in organic farming has been mainly focused on the practice of seeking efficiency. The problem is that this type of study contributes to polluting the agricultural environment and damaging the ecological circulation system. As an alternative, there is a growing body of research on organic farming, but it is not widely applied that research on how to manage the landscape considering the scenic characteristics of farming villages practicing organic farming. Hence, in this paper we utilized landscape adjectives as a way to enhance the objectivity of the organic agricultural complex landscape assessment. More specifically, not only this study used a landscape image of an organic agricultural complex to identify a landscape adjective suitable for the landscape elements but also this study confirmed the suitability of landscape adjectives comparing to the opinions of experts and the public. To carry out, this study performed the experts survey which is composed of 12 major landscape elements, including rice paddies and fields, monoculture and diverse crops, dirt roads, windbreak trees, accent planting, dum-bung(small pond), natural small river, natural waterways, plastic film houses, one-storied houses, and pavilion. As a result of deriving the landscape adjectives from the main landscape elements, there were nine landscape adjectives that were consistent with experts and the public, including "clear" and "Artless" for rice paddies and fields, while the mismatched landscape adjectives were 'traditional'. The accent planting was a combination of landscape adjectives such as 'natural' and 'clear', while the windbreak trees was a consensus of all landscape adjectives. Only two adjectives, 'friendly' and 'wild', agreed on the dirt load, nine dum-bung(small pond), ten natural small river, nine duckery, eight one-storied houses, 10 pavilion, eight monoculture and diverse crops, and three natural waterways. The most common landscape adjectives were windbreak trees, pavilions, and natural small river, all 10 landscape adjectives. However, it is considered that only three of the 10 landscape types on the dirt road and the natural number are matched. Thus, additional management measures will be needed. In addition, it was analyzed that the most common landscape adjectives were "Artless" and "friendly" 13 times. The landscape adjectives of the organic farming complex responded by experts were analyzed to be suitable for natural, clear, zingy, silent, traditional, artless, friendly, wild and Leisurely, and consistent with the general public's opinion.

Evaluation of the Feasibility of Phytoremediation of Soils Contaminated with Cd, Pb and Zn using Sunflower, Corn and Castor plants

  • Phytoremediation is a technology using plants and associated soil microbes to reduce the concentrations or toxic effects of contaminants in the environments. It is regarded as a cost-effective, efficient, eco-friendly, and solar-driven technology with good public acceptance. This study was conducted to find the plants accumulating heavy metals in soils contaminated with Cd and Pb. Experimental plots (plot size: $0.81m^2$) was artificially contaminated using a contaminated soil collected from a field in vicinity of Wondong mine (WD). Sunflower, corn and castor were tested for their potential to remove heavy metals from the contaminated soils. The results indicated that sunflower was most effective in accumulating heavy metals and thus remedying the soils among the three crops. Dry weight and heavy metal uptake of sunflower shoot differed with growth period. For example, the Cd content of shoots including leaf and stem were 0.31mg, 2.23 mg, and 0.96 mg per plot at 4, 8 and 12 weeks after planting in Cd4-WD treatment; in addition, the dry weight of the shoots in Cd8-WD treatment was reduced due to heavy metal toxicity. This experiment showed that sunflower absorbed Cd, Pb and Zn in their shoots up to 8 weeks of planting; thereafter heavy metals uptake was diminished. This implies that the efficiency of these plants in cleaning the contaminated soils may be high at the early stage of plant growth.

Composition and Utilization of Urban Garden Space Using the Planting System Design Process

  • Background and objective: Urbanization caused a reduction in urban green space and a lack of community spaces. An attempt to solve these problems, urban gardens, have become popular and are currently being implemented in various downtown areas. However, urban gardens have some inadequate aspects from a visual or landscape perspective. The goal of this study was to examine the possibility of an aesthetic and productive garden space by introducing cultivation methods through the planting system design process. Methods: The design process using plants was classified and presented to suggest the importance of the landscape and aesthetic value. An urban garden space was designed according to the perspective of 'production scenery' and 'participation aesthetics'. According to the characteristics of the plant, urban gardens were divided into vertical type (corn, millet, sorghum), climbing type (kidney bean, cucumber, bitter gourd), and runner type (melon, watermelon, peanut). After classifying plants according to the shape of the root, the structure supporting climbing was installed and the crops were cultivated in an upright form with a tunnel. Results: In the designed cultivation, each crop cooperates, without invading each other's space. Compared with the conventional cultivation, there was little difference in production, and management was made more convenient since weed outbreaks were effectively suppressed while runner type crops cover over the land's surface. Since the positions of each crop are clearly distinguished, the aesthetic value is improved by offering a sense of rhythm with a balanced design. Conclusion: The results suggest that the cultivation methods through the plant system design process have aesthetic as well as productive value, and the design using plants, an infinite living resource, could lead to an expansion of the design field. Moreover, it would enable a sustainable symbiosis between industry and environment. There is potential for the design industry to make significant progress through collaboration with agriculture, horticulture, and landscape architecture.

뿌리혹선충 Meloidogyne incognita에 대한 저항성 고추를 선발하기 위한 효율적인 검정법 확립 (Development of an Efficient Screening Method for Resistance of Chili Pepper Plants to Meloidogyne incognita)

  • 뿌리혹선충(Meloidogyne spp.)은 고추(Capsicum spp.)를 포함한 여러 가지과 작물에서 경제적인 손실을 일으키는 주요 식물 병원균 중 하나이다. 이러한 뿌리혹선충에 의한 작물의 피해는 친환경적인 방제법인 저항성 품종의 재배로 줄일 수 있다. 선충병에서는 식물에서 선충의 후대생산이 억제되었을 때 그 식물을 저항성으로 간주한다. 시판 중인 고추(Capsicum annuum) 품종 102개의 뿌리혹선충(Meloidogyne incognita)에 대한 저항성 정도를 감수성 대조 품종인 'PR 희망찬'에 형성된 난낭의 수와 비교하여 평가하였다. 실험한 고추 품종 중 44개 품종(43.1%)은 저항성을 그리고 18개 품종(17.6%)은 중도저항성을 보였다. 그리고 나머지 40개 품종(39.3%)은 감수성을 나타냈다. 그리고 뿌리혹선충(M. incognita)에 의해 발생하는 고추 뿌리혹선충병에 대한 효율적인 저항성 검정법을 확립하기 위하여 실험한 품종 중 저항성 정도가 다른 6개 품종을 선발하였다. 그리고 이들 6개 고추 품종의 접종원 농도, 고추 생육 시기 및 이식 후 배양 기간 등의 발병 조건에 따른 뿌리혹선충에 대한 저항성 차이를 조사하였다. 발병 조건에 따른 품종들의 저항성 차이 결과들을 바탕으로 M. incognita에 대한 고추의 저항성 정도를 검정하기 위한 효율적인 방법으로 온실($25{\pm}5^{\circ}C$)에서 21일 동안 재배한 고추 유묘를 원예용 상토와 모래의 혼합토(1:1, v/v)에 이식하고 7일 동안 재배한 고추 유묘에 뿌리혹선충 M. incognita 알 5,000개를 접종하고 온실에서 45-60일 동안 재배하고, 뿌리에 형성된 난낭의 수를 조사하여 감수성 대조 품종인 'PR 희망찬'에 형성된 난낭 수와 비교하여 저항성을 판정하는 방법을 제안한다.

지속가능한 수목장림을 위한 추모 서비스 개선방안 (Improving Memorial Services for Sustainable Forest Burials)

  • 현재 화장문화의 정착으로 인해 화장후 장법에 대한 사회적 관심이 커지고 있다. 또한, 현대에 들어와 자연 친화적인 장법에 대한 인식 확산으로 자연장의 대표격인 수목장과 수목장림의 수요가 늘어나고 있지만, 나무에 의존하는 현재의 방법이 지속된다면 수목장 (림)이 숲을 훼손하여 또 다른 묘지로 만들 수 있다는 우려가 적지 않다. 수목장림은 우리가 가진 자연이라는 공간으로 인간이 회귀한다는 시간적 의미가 깃들어져 인간은 자연에 순응하여 돌아간다는 철학적 의미를 담는 장법이다. 이렇듯, 수목장림은 우리가 익히 아는 전통적인 장사시설이 아님에도 시설과 운영시스템의상당 부분이 공원묘지 기준을 차용하면서 법령상의 자연장보다 더 엄격한 기준과 제한을 두고 있다. 이러한 경직성은 숲을 보존하기 위함이기도 하지만, 수목장림의 확장성과 운영에 제한을 주고 있는 것이 현실이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 지속 가능한 수목장림 운영을 위한 구체적 개선방안을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 외국의 자연장 유형을 살펴보고, 국민들의 정서와 효과적으로 적용하여 정착할 수 있는 수목장림의 방향을 찾는다. 구체적인 개선 방안으로는 추모목에 의탁하지 않는 안치 방법, 익명이나 무기명 수목장림의 운영, 그리고 참배 추모 방식의전환, 그리고 다양한 산골방법 등을 소개함으로써 국내 지속가능한 수목장림의 대안을 제안한다. 수목장림이 시행되는 곳은 산림, 다시 말해 숲 자체이다. 장사시설이 아닌 숲을 통한 고인의 진정한 자연회귀의 정신을 기릴 수 있는 장소가 되어야 한다. 그렇게 됨으로서 숲이 가진 공익적 가치, 즉 숲의 사회적 기능을 친환경적인 장사서비스라는 이름으로 제공할 수 있게 될 것이다.

폐도로 생태복원을 위한 시험시공지 평가 연구 - 경부선 영동군 황간지역 시험시공지에 대한 시공 후 7년 시점의 추적조사 - (A Study on the Test Bed Evaluation for the Ecological Restoration of Unused Road - Focused on the Experimental Construction Site in Young Dong Province of GyungBu Expressway(Seven years after construction.) -)

  • In the recent years, the incidence of abandoned concrete roads have been increasing rapidly due to road improvements and facilities route construction, these abandoned expressway and unused roads are scattered throughout the country but the management system is not clear, they does not be an effectively managed because there is no maintenance cost. In response to these social concern and expectation, the Korea Expressway Corporation that is management authority of the expressway is developing policy initiatives and various projects to restore the closed road to ecological for eco-friendly projects of the existing expressway. And as part of these projects, Hwanggan IC unmanaged abandoned concrete roads restoration project was done and it was conducting monitoring for ecological restoration that is not one-off but sustainable. After test construction over seven years at the time, test construction of four ways enforced but the boundaries have become blurred over time. And Pinus koraiensis, Callicarpa dichotoma and Sorbaria stellipilla var. typica planted in the site are dominating, else Amorpha fruticosa and Indigofera pseudotinctoria sowed are dominating. Invasive species is that Robinia pseudoacacia was growing in the colony. Over monitoring result time, the vegetation was taking root and the ecosystem was being restore. But the disturbance of vegetation happens due to planting of tree species that doesn't fit in the restoration area and advent of ecosystem Disturbing Species. The study will be providing a basic data that identify change of plant environment by monitoring of the site and soil environment during June to November 2016 and secure an objective evaluation data by analyzing the effects of ecological restoration for revegetation test bed evaluation for ecological restoration of expressway in ecological restoration construction in later.

Comparison of the Particulate Matter Removal Capacity of 11 Herbaceous Landscape Plants

  • Background and objective: Particulate matter (PM) has a fatal effect on health. There have been many studies on the use of plants such as trees and shrubs as eco-friendly and sustainable biofilter for the removal of PM. In forming more green space, ground cover plants play an important role in multi-layered planting. This study was conducted to investigate the ability of plants to reduce PM, targeting Korean native ground cover plants with high availability in urban green spaces. Methods: For 4 species of Asteraceae, 4 species of Liliaceae, and 3 species of Rosaceae, one species of plants at a time were placed in an acrylic chamber (800 × 800 × 1000 mm, L × W × H) modeling an indoor space. After the injection of PM, the amount of PM remaining in the chamber over time was investigated. Results: For all three types of PM (PM10, PM2.5, PM1), significant difference occurred in the amount of PM remaining between plant species after 1 hour in the Liliaceae chamber, 3 hours in the Asteraceae chamber, and 5 hours in the Rosaceae chamber. With Liliaceae, the leaf area and the amount of PM remaining in the chamber showed a negative (-) correlation. With the Asteraceae and Rosaceae, there was a weak negative correlation between the leaf area and the amount of PM remaining in the chamber. Conclusion: When using ground cover plants as a biofilter to remove PM, it is considered effective to select a species with a large total leaf area, especially for Liliaceae.
