App Inventor to Develop Educational Apps (교육용 앱 개발을 위한 앱 인벤터 활용)

  • In this paper, we describe the learning and quiz app using the app inventor and conducted the related questionnaire. We developed a learning philosophy for preliminary early childhood teachers using the developed apps and taught them how to utilize them in early childhood education by explaining the apps and using the app inventor. Through questionnaires, we confirmed the learning effect and the willingness to use in early childhood education. Through this study, I hope to improve the ability of early childhood teacher learning and to utilize the coding in early childhood education with the app developed as the app inventor.

A Study on the Recognition and Qualities of Early Childhood Coding Education in Childcare Center Teachers (어린이집 교사의 유아코딩교육에 대한 인식과 자질에 대한 연구)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the recognition and qualities of early childhood coding education in childcare center teachers. Methods: 158 childcare center teachers responded to 56 questions on a questionnaire extracted and revised from previous research. Frequency analysis and one-way ANOVA were applied for the data analysis. Results: Many teachers agreed that the software education policy was timely appropriate. Most of them needed the education in order to improve children's creativity and problem solving ability, and answered that it is appropriate to start the education at age 5. Most of them recognized that small group and free choice activities, play activities linked with daily life topics and coding programs by the childcare center teachers were desirable as educational methods. Provision of educational HW/SW environment was a relatively important element for effective implementation of the education. The coding educational qualities perceived by the teachers were not high, and were related to the age of the children they were in charge of and their computer literacy. Conclusion/Implications: The recognition of childcare center teachers was relatively positive, but it is necessary to educate the teachers to improve their recognition and qualities of the education in consideration of teachers' variables.

  • Recently, there are efforts to improve my learning ability by using various learning tools based on ICT technology. The application such as games is used in conjunction with lecture class to induce interest in the class and to enhance the learning effect by using smartphone app as learning tool. In addition, we are trying to improve creative thinking ability, problem solving ability and logical thinking ability through early coding education.   • As the COVID-19 situation continues, early childhood are unable to attend early childhood education institutions and are spending more time with their parents at home. Parents are faced with a situation where they have to spend a lot of time at home to teach their children for Korean word learning or play activities. This act as a lot of psychological burden and stress for parents. In order to relieve the psychological burden of parents, the design and implementation of early childhood learning assistant system that can support Korea word education and play activities using artificial intelligence blocks of block coding technique was proposed in this study. The usage of a proposed system can not only reduce the burden on parents for their children's learning, but also can be actively used in the field of early childhood education so many learning effects can be expected.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the current state of coding education for children and to propose a new 'play-oriented' educational content to keep up with the problems of education in line with the revision process of the 4th Industrial Revolution. As a research method, we investigated and analyzed the case of the Korean early childhood coding education program, and then suggested the direction of the future infant coding education and suggested a new play area for children. Case analysis shows that current coding education places many restrictions on children's activities. So we propose a coding education space as a 'playing space' where children can actively play. Because the space is used, emotional education is possible because it can stimulate senses such as vision, touch and smell. In addition, this study is expected to cultivate not only spatial comprehension, but also imagination, creativity and cooperation. In future research, we will study the characteristics and technical process of children in-depth to help develop early childhood education.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근 교육현장에서 늘어나는 코딩교육의 중요성을 알고 유아교육에서 코딩교육이 제대로 이루어 질수 있도록 환경적 및 내용적 측면을 제안하는 것이다. 제 4차 산업혁명으로 인하여 모든 사람들이 융합적 사고를 갖고 문제해결능력을 갖추어야 하는 시대를 맞게 되었다. 따라서, 유아기때부터 컴퓨팅 사고력을 위한 교육이 이루어지며, 이를 통해 논리적 사고와 문제 해결능력을 향상시키고, 디지털 미래세대의 주역이 될 수 있도록 하고자 한다. 그러나 아직까지 유아교육분야에서 코딩관련된 제품들은 많이 나오고 있으나 이에 대한 평가나 학문적 검증은 거의 이루어지지 않고 있으므로 이에 대한 방법적 측면을 제안하고자 한다.

Study on Learning Model for Improving Computational Thinking of Early Childhood Education in Domestic Setting

  • This paper draws attention on the importance of computational thinking, which is being utilized more and more in recent educational environment. Also, it suggests a teaching and learning model for improving computational thinking within early childhood education. With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, this era demands people to possess integrative thinking and problem-solving skills. As a result, education on computational thinking is done beginning from the early childhood, enabling children to take the leading part in the future digital generation. However, despite the appearance of many education services and products regarding computational thinking, the field lacks evaluation and academic verification. Thus, this study will complement the methodological aspect of computational thinking.

A Study on the Perception and the Need of Early Childhood Teachers on Forest Experience Activities (숲 체험활동에 대한 유아교사들의 인식 및 요구에 관한 연구)

  • This study is intended to look into early childhood teachers' perceptions and needs for forest experience activities. To achieve this, a survey was carried out to 170 early childhood teachers in kindergartens and child care centers in Daejeon city. The SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science) v. 18.0 was used for data analysis through the process of data coding and data cleaning. The frequency analysis was conducted for the general state of those surveyed. The frequency analysis, ANOVA and factor analysis were conducted for the perceptions and needs for forest experience activities. The findings showed that early childhood teachers had positive perceptions for the educational effects of forest experience activities. Especially, they perceived that the educational programs of forest experience activities need to be highly recommended to early children as forest experience education is important for forest experience activities. Consequently, forest experience education is just as important and useful for early children to learn the importance of coexistence with human and nature, and develop a sense of community by interacting with nature.

A Qualitative Study on Early Childhood Teachers' Experiences in Teaching Young Children with Language Development Delays (보육교사의 언어발달지체 유아 지원 경험에 관한 질적 연구)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to explore the experiences of early childhood teachers in teaching young children with language development delays. Methods: Eight early childhood teachers with experience teaching children with language development delays were interviewed. The collected data were analyzed through transcription, coding, and theme generation processes, resulting in three main themes and seven sub-themes. Results: First, early childhood teachers mentioned difficulties in communication due to language development delays, the need for communication support with peers, and a lack of support from families. Second, the guidance for young children with language development delays was provided by considering the characteristics of these children and through collaboration among various stakeholders. Third, early childhood teachers requested tailored training for teaching young children with language development delays. They also called for the establishment of a cooperative system among early childhood education institutions, families, and specialized agencies. Conclusion/Implications: Based on the research findings, a discussion was conducted on the support needed for guiding young children with language development delays, and suggestions were made for further research in this area.

The Development and Application Effect of Coding Game for the Childhood Cognitive Development (유아인지발달을 위한 코딩게임의 개발과 적용 효과)

  • "Ito2", an early childhood educational coding game that allows students to learn sequential, loop, and conditional statement concepts through games is introduced. The developed game is a two-stage process of mock and practical classes for children in actual nursing cares, and coding education is conducted for actual children to determine its effectiveness. The degree of change is observed by observing trends in childhood cognitive development performance in all six areas, including parts and the overall, space, observation, shape and measurement, classification, comparison, and listing, as the coding training is conducted. In this paper, the improvement of cognitive development and spatial perceptual abilities were achieved by children playing games with infant functional coding with fun elements plus learning factors.
