  • This paper suggests the current control method that is possible to control Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) with high performance current controller. The proposed control method is the way that uses the powerful current cintroller developed the speed emf with a proper voltage in an each inductance region instead of the existed PI controller. The suggested current control strategies are verified by simulations and experiments in this paper.

  • This paper describes how to apply to commutate of thyristor efficiently. Thyristor is used for the high power system, as the research to secure domestic technology of the Current Source Inverter(CSI) for the synchronous motor operation which is used for the propulsion system of KTX. It has been composed to be available for the stable switching operation of the thyristor by supplementing problem of load commutation method, according to small Counter ElectricMotive Force(EMF) at low speed area of synchronous motor, via auxiliary commutation circuit using forced commutation method. We also have verified through the simulation using the Matlab.

  • This paper proposes an improved sensorless control to estimate the rotor position of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor. A phase-locked loop (PLL) is used to obtain the phase angle of the grid. The rotor position can be estimated using a PLL based on extended electromotive force (EEMF) because the EEMF contains information about the rotor position. The proposed method can reduce the burden of calculation. Therefore, the control period is decreased. The simulation and experimental results confirm the effectiveness and performance of the proposed method.

  • Among the various PWM methods, the hysteresis-band current control PWM method is popularly used because of its simplicity of implementation, fast response characteristics and inherent peak current limiting capability. However, the current control PWM method with a fixed hysteresis-band has the disadvantage that switching frequency decreases and current ripple is high as the increasing of back-EMF. As a result, load current contains excess harmonics. This paper describes a adaptive hysteresis-bandwidth control algorithm so as to maintain the average switching frequency constant and decrease the current ripple where the hysteresis bandwidth is derived as a relation with the switching frequency. This control algorithm is applied to the surface-type brushless DC motor with separated winding and using the computer simulation, the validity of its algorithm is proved.

  • The paper proposes the characteristics analysis for a Transverse flux type Switched Reluctance Motor(TSRM) considering the nonlinear magnetic phenomena. To investigate the nonlinear parameters of magnetic equivalent circuit, the designed TSRM is analyzed by the 2D and 3D finite element method as functions of input current and angular displacement. On the base of FEM analysis results, the current, torque, back EMF and output power wave of TSRM are simulated from the motion equation by MATLAB/Simulink. The simulated performance characteristics for a 4-phase, 24-pole TSRM are verified by experimental results of a prototype TSRM.

  • The magnetization directions of a polar magnetized ferrite bonded magnet are analyzed by finite element method (FEM). The influence of the width of SmCo magnets for magnetic field generation is investigated. The surface flux densities of the polar anisotropic magnets are analyzed and compared according to the pole number and thickness of the magnets. And the electromotive force (EMF) values of brushless DC motors with the magnets are investigated. The validity of the analysis method is verified by comparing the analyzed results with measured ones.

  • Brushless DC motor(BLDCM) can be driven by 120[^{\circ}]$ square wave voltage and use PWM pulse patterns in two-phase feeding scheme to control the speed of the motor. This Paper introduces four PWM modes used BLDCM control system, and analyzes their different influences on the motor performances using a time-stepped voltage source finite element method. To verify the proposed computational method, we built the prototype motor for electrical power steering(EPS) and compared the predicted and the measured back EMF and phase current.

  • Now a days, the induction motor is widely used in industry automation. Without monitoring the motor fault, maintenance cost is increased undesirably high. The slip frequency is included in the feature frequency, so rotating rotor speed is needed. In this paper, a sensorless motor speed estimation method, rotor slot harmonic(RSH) method is suggested and a solution of rotor bar diagnosis is proposed for motor running with light-load. When the rotor is rotating, it shows the harmonic signal of back-emf voltage related with number of rotor slot. So from the power spectrum of current signal, we can find the rotor speed.

  • When the vector control which does not need a speed signal from a mechanical speed sensor it is possible to reduce the cost of the control equipment and to improve the control performance in many industrial application. In this paper describes a rotor speed estimate method of induction motor based on the theory of counter EMF MRAS. This method eliminated the pure integrator. and we can be expected to rapid responsibility of the speed identification, Therefore we improve the initial condition of the integrator and drift problem. The stability of speed estimator is proved on the basis of hyperstability theory. In order to confirm the performance of the proposed system Simulation and experiment is performed.

  • This paper presents a multi-objective optimal design process for an in-wheel permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) for high performance. In order to improve the characteristics of the PMSM such as the cogging torque, torque ripple and the back-EMF, the modified Taguchi method and the response surface method (RSM) are utilized. In addition, results of the proposed model are compared with the initial design and it is verified by 2D FEM.
