This study was carried out to investigate the effective extraction condition for increase of phytoecdysteroids from fronds of Matteuccia struthiopteris (FMS) and Osmunda japonica (FOJ). Lyophilizated fronds were mixed with three different solvents (MeOH, 80% EtOH or water) and then extraction was carried out by using six different methods, such as, immersion (room temp.), heating (60$^{\circ}C$), stirring (200 rpm) for 6 h, or sonication in 42 kHz ultrasonic bath for 15, 30 and 45 minutes. Contents of 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) and ponasterone A (PonA) were measured by using HPLC after purification of the extracts by $C_{18}$ cartridge. Altogether, our results indicate that the extraction using sonication with MeOH as a solvent (for 30 minutes) was the most effective condition for 20E and PonA from both MFS and FOJ. Resulting contents of 20E from FMS and FOJ were 66.76 and 104.48 ${\mu}g{\cdot}g^{-1}$ and PonA were 53.43 and 43.82 ${\mu}g{\cdot}g^{-1}$, respectively.
A two-dimensional (2-D) interpretation of MT data has been performed for the purpose of fracture detection for geothermal development. Remote stations have been operated in Kyushu, Japan (480 km apart) as well as in Korea (60 km and 165 km apart in 2002 and 2003 data set, respectively). Apparent resistivity and phase curves calculated by remote processing with the Japan remote data showed enough quality for 2-D inversion for the whole frequency range. Remote reference processing with Korea remote reference data also showed quite good continuity in apparent resistivity and phase curves except some noisy frequency bands; around the power frequency, 60 Hz, and around the dead band $10^{-1}Hz\;Hz\;\~1\;Hz$, where the natural EM signal is known to be very weak. Even though the subsurface showed severe three-dimensional (3-D) characteristics in the survey area so that 2-D inversion by itself could not give enough information for deep geological structures, the 2-D inversion for the 5 survey lines showed several common features. The conductive semi-consolidate mudstone layer is dipping from north to south (about 500 m depth on the south and 200 m on the north most part of the survey area). The boundary between the low (L-2) and high (H-2) resistivity anomalies can be thought as a major fault with strike $N15^{\circ}E$, passing through the sites 206, 112 and 414. The shallow (< 1 km) conductive anomalies (L-4) seem to be fracture zones having strike E-W (at site 105) and $N60^{\circ}W$ (at site 434). And there exists a conductive layer in the western and west-southern part of the survey area in the depth below $2\~3\;km$, for which further investigation is to be needed.

In this paper, a novel Snowflake-shaped microstrip patch antenna for application in the WLAN(5.2/5.8GHz) band is designed and fabricated. The size of antenna is $21.2{\times}16mm^2$ and substrate is used Taconic-RF30. To obtain sufficient bandwidth in Return loss <-10dB and dual resonance characteristic, the Short-pin is inserted on the patch and the coaxial probe source is used. The measured results of fabricated antenna show 220MHz and 135MHz bandwidth in Return loss <-10dB referenced to the WLAN(5.2/5.8GHz) band. The measured antenna gain is $4.7{\sim}6.9dBi$ in the WLAN(5.2/5.8GHz) band. The experimental 3-dB beam width in I-plane and H-plane are $73.2^{\circ}/82.75^{\circ}$ for 5.1500Hz, $74.56^{\circ}/83.63^{\circ}$ for 5.3500Hz, and $86.24^{\circ}/85.15^{\circ}$ for 5.7850Hz, respectively.
The bean bug, Riptortus pedestris (=clavatus) Fabricius (Hemiptera: Alydidae) is a serious pest of soybean in many countries. It enters a reproductive diapause in the winter by short day length (<13.5 h.) in Korea and Japan. The combined effects of temperatures ($25^{\circ}C$ and $8^{\circ}C$) and day lengths (10L:14D and 14L:10D) upon the termination of the male's diapause were studied. The combinations are (1) HTLD = $25^{\circ}C$, 14L:10D treatment for 1, 2, 3 weeks and 30 days; (2) HTSD = $25^{\circ}C$, 10L:14D treatment for 1, 2, and 3 weeks; (3) LTLD$\rightarrow$HTLD = $8^{\circ}C$, 14L:10D treatment for 1, 2, and 3 weeks followed by HTLD treatment; (4) LTSD$\rightarrow$HTLD = $8^{\circ}C$, 10L:14D treatment for 1, 2, and 3 weeks followed by HTLD. The amount of aggregation pheromone components secreted was adopted as the criteria for diapause termination in males. Males did not secrete aggregation pheromone under HTSD conditions. However, the males treated with HTLD for more than 21 days secreted significantly higher amounts of aggregation components, (E)-2-hexenyl (Z)-3-hexenoate and (E)-2-hexenyl (E)-2-hexenoate, compared to the control or HTSD treatments. The three components of the aggregation pheromone were secreted by the 14%, 29%, and 100% males treated with HTLD for 7 days, respectively. However more than 83% of the HTLD-treated males secreted all three components by the $30^{th}$ day under the treatment. In comparison, the pheromone amounts secreted by the males treated with LTLD$\rightarrow$HTLD or LTSD$\rightarrow$HTLD were equal or less than those secreted by males with continuous HTLD treatment.

Pure and Sn or Pt doped $\alpha-Fe_2O_3$ thin films were prepared on $Al_2O_3$ substrates by RF-magnetron sputtering method and the sensitivities were compared. It was found that pure $\alpha-Fe_2O_3$ thin films did not exhibit much selectivity in CO and $i-C_4H_{10}$ gases while it showed the high sensitivity in proportion to the gas concentration of $C_2H_{5}OH$ gas. Pt-doped $\alpha-Fe_2O_3$ showed to be alike sensing properties as pure $\alpha-Fe_2O_3$ thin film in $C_2H_{5}OH$ gas. However, Sn-doped $\alpha-Fe_2O_3$ thin films exhibited the excellent sensitivity and selectivity in Hz gas. After microstructure modification by plasma etching on pure $\alpha-Fe_2O_3$ thin films, the gas sensing characteristics were dramatically changed.

The electrode kinetic parameters at the Pd/0.5 M LiOH electrolyte interface have been qualitatively studied using the phase-shift method. The phase shift $(\phi)$ depends on both the cathode potential (E>0) and frequency (f), and $\theta$ is inversely proportional to the fractional surface coverage $\theta$. At an intermediate frequency (10 Hz), the phase-shift profile $(\phi\;vs.\;E)$ can be related to the fractional surface coverage $(\theta\;vs.\;E)$. The phase-shift method can be used to estimate or plot the Frumkin adsorption isotherm. The rate (r) of change of the free energy of adsorption with $({\theta})$ is 22.3 kJ/mol. The equilibrium constant (K) for adsorption and the standard free energy $({\Delta}G_{\theta})$ of the adsorbed hydrogen atom $(H_{ads})$ are $3.7\times10^{-3}{\Delta}G_{\theta}>-8.4kJ/mol$, respectively. For 1$0.38>\theta>0$, the energy liberation or the exothermic reaction for hydrogen adsorption at the Pd cathode can be occurred. The electrode kinetic parameters $(r,\;K,\;{\Delta}G_{\theta}$ depend on the fractional surface coverage $({\theta})$ or the phase shift $(\phi)$.
Magnetoelectric(ME) laminate composites of $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3 (PMN-PT)$ and Terfenol-D were prepared by sandwiching single crystals of PMN-PT between Terfenol-D disks. The magnetoelectric voltage coefficient (dE/dH) of the composite was determined to be 10.30 V/cm${\cdot}$Oe, at 1 kHz and under a dc magnetic bias of 0.4 T. The value of dE/dH is ∼80 times higher than either that of naturally occurring magnetoelectrics or artificially-grown magnetoelectric composites. This superior magnetoelectric voltage coefficient is attributed to the high piezoelectric voltage constant as well as the high elastic compliance of PMN-PT single crystal and the large magnetostrictive response of Terfenol-D.
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a major cause of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. With recent identification of HBV receptor, inhibition of virus entry has become a promising concept in the development of new antiviral drugs. To date, 10 HBV genotypes (A-J) have been defined. We previously generated two murine anti-preS1 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), KR359 and KR127, that recognize amino acids (aa) 19-26 and 37-45, respectively, in the receptor binding site (aa 13-58, genotype C). Each mAb exhibited virus neutralizing activity in vitro, and a humanized version of KR127 effectively neutralized HBV infection in chimpanzees. In the present study, we constructed a humanized version (HzKR359-1) of KR359 whose antigen binding activity is 4.4-fold higher than that of KR359, as assessed by competitive ELISA, and produced recombinant preS1 antigens (aa 1-60) of different genotypes to investigate the binding capacities of HzKR359-1 and a humanized version (HzKR127-3.2) of KR127 to the 10 HBV genotypes. The results indicate that HzKR359-1 can bind to five genotypes (A, B, C, H, and J), and HzKR127-3.2 can also bind to five genotypes (A, C, D, G, and I). The combination of these two antibodies can bind to eight genotypes (A-D, G-J), and to genotype C additively. Considering that genotypes A-D are common, whereas genotypes E and F are occasionally represented in small patient population, the combination of these two antibodies might block the entry of most virus genotypes and thus broadly neutralize HBV infection.

Influence of sustain pulse-width on electro-luminous efficiency is experimentally investigated for surface discharge of AC-PDP. A square pulse with variable duty ratio and rising time of 300 ns has been used in the experiment. It is found that the firing voltage is decreased as the pulse-width is increased from 2 ${\mu}s$ to 8 ${\mu}s$ with sweeping frequency range of 10 kHz to 50 kHz. It has been found that the optimal sustain pulse-width is in the range of $3{\sim}4{\mu}s$ under driving frequency range of 30 kHz and 50 kHz, based on observation of memory coefficient, wall charge, and wall voltage as well as luminous efficiency.
The purpose of this study is to compare both 1.5T and 4.7T in Praietal White matter material Phantom using the same methodology at both field strengths. Data at both field strengths are compared in terms of $T_2$ relaxation times, line widths and SNRs MR imaging and $^1H$ MR spectroscopy were performed on GE 1.5T SIGNA system and Broker Biospec 4.7T/30 MRI/MRS system. After phantom axial scan $^1H$ MRS was obtained from T2 weighted image by 3-dimensional localization technique(PRESS : Point RE solved spectroscopy Sequence) this phantom is composed of an aqueous solution 36.7 mmol/L of NAA, 25.0 mmol/L of Cr, 6.3 mmol/L of choline chloride, 30.0 mmol/L or Glu, and 22.5 mmol/L of MI(adjusted to a pH of 7,15 in a phosphate buffet). Data processed using software developed inhouse. At 1.5T, T2 relaxation times for Cho, Cr, and NAA were $0.41{\pm}0.07,\;0.26{\pm}0.04,\;0.46{\pm}0.07$ while at 4.7T they were $0.17{\pm}0.03,\;0.14{\pm}0.05,\;0.20{\pm}0.03$ respectively. At 1.5T, line widths for water, Cho, Cr and NAA were $2.9{\pm}0.7,\;1.6{\pm}0.7,\;1.7{\pm}0.8,\;2.2{\pm}0.02Hz$ while at 4.7T they were $5.2{\pm}1.1,\;4.6{\pm}1.9,\;4.01{\pm}1.8,\;4.8{\pm}1.9Hz$ respectively. It can be seen that $T_2$ relaxation times were significantly shorter at 4.7 compared to 1.5T and that the line widths were also broader. The average SNRs for NAA for subjects at short and long TEs were $23.5{\pm}11.3$ at TE=20 msec ; $15.4{\pm}7.7$ at TE=272 msec at 1.5T and $40{\pm}8.3$ and $17{\pm}3.5$ respectively at 4.7T higher field strength is superior because of improved sensitivity and chemical shift dispersion. However these improvements are partially offset by increased line widths and decrease $T_2$ relaxation times, which act to reduce both sensitivity and resolution. In our experiments with the equipment available to us, 4.7T proton spectra at short TEs exhibit moderately improved sensitivity compared to 1.5T.
