  • As the community antenna television (CATV) networks becomes ubiquitous, instead of constructing an entirely new broadband network infrastructure, it has emerged as one of the rapid and economic technologies to interconnecting heterogeneous network to provide broadband access to subscribers. How to support ubiquitous real-time multimedia applications, especially in a heavy traffic environment, becomes a critical issue in modern CATV networks. In this paper, we propose a time guaranteed and efficient upstream minislots allocation algorithm for supporting quality-of-service (QoS) traffic over data over cable service interface specification (DOCSIS) CATV networks to fulfill the needs of realtime interactive services, such as video telephony, video on demand (VOD), distance learning, and so on. The proposed adaptive fast expansion algorithm and the loading statistics with dynamic swapping algorithm have been shown to perform better than that of the multimedia cable network system (MCNS) DOCSIS.

  • Massive Open Online Courses(MOOC), originally started from United States, have recently received a great deal of attention all over the world. MOOC means free online courses that anyone can attend anytime. In Korea, KERIS(Korea Education and Research Information Service) and some universities provide various MOOC services. The purpose of this paper is to present current status and improvement suggestions of MOOC. We first introduce the formal definition and history of MOOC, then discuss current status of MOOC services in Korea and other countries. We finally present improvement suggestions that include induction of active participation for universities, value creation for campus, development of revenue model, providing motivation to students for finishing courses, development of LMS(Learning Management System), securing well-trained lecturers, translation of lecture materials, ensuring quality of authentification system of MOOC services.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the applications and possibilities of major programs that provide services using artificial intelligence in mathematics education. For this study, related papers, reports, and materials were collected and analyzed, focusing on materials mostly published within the last five years. The researcher searched the keywords of "artificial intelligence", "artificial intelligence", "AI" and "mathematics education" independently or in combination. As a result of the study, artificial intelligence for mathematics education was mostly supporting learners' personalized mathematics learning, defining it as an auxiliary role to support human mathematics teachers, and upgrading the technology of not only cognitive aspects but also affective aspects. As suggestions, the researcher argued that followings are necessary: Research for the establishment of an elaborate artificial intelligence mathematical system, discovery of artificial intelligence technology for appropriate use to support mathematics education, development of high quality of mathematics contents for artificial intelligence, and the establishment and operation of a cloud-based comprehensive system for mathematics education. The researcher proposed that continuous research to effectively help students study mathematics using artificial intelligence including students' emotional or empathetic abilities, and collaborative learning, which is only possible in offline environments. Also, the researcher suggested that more sophisticated materials should be developed for designing mathematics teaching and learning by using artificial intelligence.

  • Problem/Project based learning(PBL) is a student-centered teaching method in which students collaboratively solve problems and reflect their experiences. According to the results of PBL study and the experiences of the authors in PBL instruction, this paper introduced the necessities, output and significance of learning process PBL evaluation method and sums up our PBL evaluation process. The issue of appropriate and fair evaluation has been raised in untact (non-contact) university mathematics education due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) of the year 2020. To this end, when we had the course on for the summer semester held at S University in the summer of 2020. To ensure the fairness in evaluation and to improve the quality of our college math education, the PBL evaluation method was fully adapted. As a result, most of the students who took the lecture have learned a wide range of related knowledge without a single exception, and students agreed it is an ideal, fair, rational, and effective evaluation method applicable to other online courses in the era of untact education. This case was summarized in detail and introduced in this paper.

  • With the advancement of information and communication technology (ICT), the use of electronic document types such as PDF, MS Office, and HWP files has increased. Such trend has led the cyber attackers increasingly try to spread malicious documents through e-mails and messengers. To counter such attacks, AI-based methodologies have been actively employed in order to detect malicious document files. The main challenge in detecting malicious HWP(Hangul Word Processor) files is the lack of quality dataset due to its usage is limited in Korea, compared to PDF and MS-Office files that are highly being utilized worldwide. To address this limitation, data augmentation have been proposed to diversify training data by transforming existing dataset, but as the usefulness of the augmented data is not evaluated, augmented data could end up harming model's performance. In this paper, we propose an effective semi-supervised learning technique in detecting malicious HWP document files, which improves overall AI model performance via quantifying the utility of augmented data and filtering out useless training data.

  • As the e-learning spreads widely and demands on the internet video service, transmitting video data for many users over the Internet becomes popular. To satisfy this needs, the traditional approach uses a tree structure that uses the video server as the root node. However, this approach has the danger of stopping the video service even when one of the nodes along the path has a some problem. In this paper, we propose a video-on-demand service that uses multiple paths. We add new paths for backup and speed up for transmitting the video data. We show by simulation experiments that our approach provides a high-quality of video service.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the actual states of the elementary school and the middle school mathematics education as a curriculum quality-management. To this end, this study surveyed the input, process and output phase in the school curriculum to the teachers, students and parents. The results are like these: First, the achievement standards contents in the elementary school and the middle schools are relevant in the input phase. Second, the teachers in the elementary school have more concern on the teaching & learning methods than those in the middle school in the process phase. Third, students and parents' satisfaction on the cognitive and affective domain in the elementary school is higher than that in the middle school in the output phase. This study suggests that these result has to be affected to make ways to apply the new curriculum, and the curriculum revision system has to be established to revise the curriculum as an important method of quality management.

  • The Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) is an alternative to the paper price label attached to merchandise shelves and is attracting attention as a retail IoT infrastructure that will lead the innovation of offline retail outlets. In general, when introducing a substitute product, the company tends to consider the financial factors such as the efficiency of the investment cost compared to the existing product or the reduction of the operating cost. However, considering only financial factors in the decision-making process, it may not properly reflect the various values associated with corporate strategy and the requirements of stakeholders. In this study, 8 evaluation items (Investment Cost, Operating Cost, Quality Level, Customer Management, Job Efficiency, Maintenance, Functional Expandability, and Store Image) based on BSC's 4 perspectives (Financial, Customer, Internal Business Process, Learning & Growth), and using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) to measure the priorities of evaluation items for domestic small supermarket employees. As a result of the research, priority was given in order of Customer, Learning & Growth, Internal Business Process, and Financial aspects among the evaluation items for adopting the price label, and the electronic price label was supported with higher importance than the paper price label. In contrast to the priorities of the financial aspects of most prior studies, the items of Learning & growth and customer perspectives have relatively high priorities. In particular, respondents classified by job group, The priorities of the 8 evaluation items were different among the groups. These results are expected to provide implications for both companies (retail outlets) and ESL providers (manufacturers and service providers) who are considering the introduction of ESL.
