A challenge in the redox field is the elucidation of the molecular mechanisms, by which $H_2O_2$ mediates signal transduction in cells. This is relevant since redox pathways are disturbed in some pathologies. The transcription factor OxyR is the $H_2O_2$ sensor in bacteria, whereas Cys-based peroxidases are involved in the perception of this oxidant in eukaryotic cells. Three possible mechanisms may be involved in $H_2O_2$ signaling that are not mutually exclusive. In the simplest pathway, $H_2O_2$ signals through direct oxidation of the signaling protein, such as a phosphatase or a transcription factor. Although signaling proteins are frequently observed in the oxidized state in biological systems, in most cases their direct oxidation by $H_2O_2$ is too slow ($10^1M^{-1}s^{-1}$ range) to outcompete Cys-based peroxidases and glutathione. In some particular cellular compartments (such as vicinity of NADPH oxidases), it is possible that a signaling protein faces extremely high $H_2O_2$ concentrations, making the direct oxidation feasible. Alternatively, high $H_2O_2$ levels can hyperoxidize peroxiredoxins leading to local building up of $H_2O_2$ that then could oxidize a signaling protein (floodgate hypothesis). In a second model, $H_2O_2$ oxidizes Cys-based peroxidases that then through thiol-disulfide reshuffling would transmit the oxidized equivalents to the signaling protein. The third model of signaling is centered on the reducing substrate of Cys-based peroxidases that in most cases is thioredoxin. Is this model, peroxiredoxins would signal by modulating the thioredoxin redox status. More kinetic data is required to allow the identification of the complex network of thiol switches.
National Oceanographic Research Institute is carrying out an oceanographic survey for the entire sea areas around Korean Peninsula annually starting with the East Sea from 1996 by establishing a national oceanographic basic map survey plan for the sea areas under the jurisdiction of Korea, so this paper used the oceanographic geomagnetism data measured at the southern area of the Yellow Sea using 'Hae Yang 2000' in 1999, aiming at clarifying the cause of geomagnetic abnormality zone during the course of treating and analyzing the geomagnetic data. For treatment of magnetic data, we obtained electromagnetic force values and geomagnetic abnormality values around the investigated sea area through a process of searching and removal of bad data, correction of sensor positions, correction of magnetic field effects around the hull, correction of diurnal variation, normal correction, correction of cross point errors, etc. The electromagnetic force distribution around the investigated sea area was $49000\;{\sim}\;51600\;nT$, which is judged to be within the normal electromagnetic force intensity distribution range around the Yellow Sea. The isodynamic lines are distributed in Northeast-Southwest direction, and electromagnetic force values are increasing toward the northwest. The result of comparing the magnetic abnormality around the sea area among $124^{\circ}$ 49' 48" E, $35^{\circ}$ 10' 48" N $\sim$$125^{\circ}$ 7' 48" E, and $35^{\circ}$ 33' 00" N sections with the elastic wave cross section and the result of modeling coincide well with the underground geological structure clarified from the existing elastic wave survey cross section. Therefore, it is judged that the distribution of magnetic force abnormality generally shows the effect pursuant to the distribution of the sedimentary basins in the Tertiary period and the bedrocks in the Cretaceous period which are well developed in the bottom of the sea.

A stoichiometric mixture of evaporating materials for $CuAlSe_{2}$ single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal electric furnace. To obtain the single crystal thin films, $CuAlSe_{2}$ mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperatures were $680^{\circ}C$ and $410^{\circ}C$, respectively. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). The carrier density and mobility of $CuAlSe_{2}$ single crystal thin films measured with Hall effect by van der Pauw method are $9.24{\times}10^{16}cm^{-3}$ and $295cm^{2}/V{\codt}s$ at 293 K, respectively. The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $CuAlSe_{2}$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_{g}(T)$ = 2.8382 eV - ($8.68{\circ}10^{-4}$ eV/K)$T^{2}$/(T + 155 K). The crystal field and the spin-orbit splitting energies for the valence band of the $CuAlSe_{2}$ have been estimated to be 0.2026 eV and 0.2165 eV at 10 K, respectively, by means of the photocurrent spectra and the Hopfield quasicubic model. These results indicate that the splitting of the ${\Delta}so$ definitely exists in the ${\Gamma}_{5}$ states of the valence band of the $CuAlSe_{2}$. The three photocurrent peaks observed at 10 K are ascribed to the $A_{1-}$, $B_{1-}$, and $C_{1-}$ exciton peaks for n = 1.

A computer simulation is performed on the effectiveness of the active minimization of harmonically excited enclosed sound fields for producing global reduction in the amplitude of the pressure fluctuations. In this study for the appreciable reductions in total time averaged acoustic potential energy, $E_{pp}$, the transducer location strategies for three dimensional active noise control is presented based on a state space modal which approximates the closed acoustic field. In this study, the above theoretical basis is used to investigate the application of active control to sound fields of low modal density. By the used of room-like 3-dimensional rectangular enclosure it is demonstrated that the reductions in $E_{pp}$ can be achieved by using a single secondary source, provided that the source is placed within the half a wavelength from the primary source and placed away from nodal line of the sound field. Concerning the reductions in $E_{pp}$ by minimzing the pressure in sound fields by the use of 3-dimensional rectangular enclosure, the effects of the number of sensors and the locations of these sensors are investigated. When a few modes dominate the response it is found that if only a limited number of sensors are located away from nodal line and located at the pressure maxima of the sound field such as at each corner of a rectangular enclosure.
In the conventional load transfer analysis for a steel pipe drilled shaft, it was assumed that the concrete's strain is the same as the measured steel's strain and the elastic modulus of the steel and the concrete calculated by the formular as prescribed by specification is used in the calculation of pile axial load. But, the pile axial load calculation by conventional method differed to some extent from the actual pile load. So, the behavior of a steel pipe drilled shaft could not be analyzed exactly. Thus, the necessity to measure the strain for each pile component was proposed. In this study, a new approach for load transfer measurement of large diameter drilled shafts was suggested ; the strain of each pile component(i. e., steel and concrete) was measured by DRS(Deformable Rod Sensor), the elastic modulus was determined by the uniaxial compression test for concrete specimens made at test site and a value of elastic modulus was evaluated as average tangential modulus corresponding to the stress level of the (0.2-0.6)$f_{ck}$. Field application was confirmed by the results of load transfer measurement tests for 3 drilled shafts. The errors for calculated pile head load were -11 ∼16% and 3.4% separately.
A stoichiometric mixture of evaporating materials for $CdIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal electric furnace. To obtain the single crystal thin films, $CdIn_2S_4$ mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the Hot Wall Epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperatures were $630^{\circ}C$ and $420^{\circ}C$, respectively. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). The carrier density and mobility of $CdIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films measured with Hall effect by van der Pauw method are $9.01{\times}10^{16}\;cm^{-3}$ and $219\;cm^2/V{\cdot}s$ at 293 K, respectively. The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $CdIn_2S_4$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_g(T)=2.7116\;eV-(7.74{\times}10^{-4}\;eV)T^2/(T+434)$. The crystal field and the spin-orbit splitting energies for the valence band of the $CdIn_2S_4$ have been estimated to be 0.1291 eV and 0.0248 eV, respectively, by means of the photocurrent spectra and the Hopfield quasi cubic model. These results indicate that the splitting of the ${\Delta}so$ definitely exists in the ${\Gamma}5$ states of the valence band of the $AgInS_2$/GaAs epilayer. The three photocurrent peaks observed at 10K areascribed to the $A_1$-, $B_1$-, and C1-exciton peaks for n = 1.
Using geo-statistical method, yield data of different fields were analyzed to examine their field variability according to examining year, analysis method. Semivariogram and Kriged maps of geo-statistical analysis were used to examine their spatial dependence within a filed. The results obtained were as follows. 1) Descriptive statistical results of the yield showed that the yield and the difference of yield ranged from 100 to 946kg/10a and from 272 to 653kg/10a, respectively within a field. The coefficient of variation also ranged from 5.9 to 22.4 %. 2) More than 90% of yield data were placed between 350 to 850kg/10a. e results indicated that the gram mass flow sensor should have the measuring range from 0.34 to 0.82kg/s considering the yields when 4 rows head-feeding combine with 0.8 m/s of working speed was utilized. 3) A high spatial dependence was found within paddy field. The Q values ranged from 0.20 to 0.97, and the range of spatial dependence was from 6.9 to 53.3m. From this result, the rational sampling interval for yield investigation was estimated 6.9m. 4) Yields within a field between observation years showed considerable variability even if the field was evenly cultivated and managed. To apply precision agriculture in a paddy field, the field test should be continued to build a solid data-base including meteorological data, blight damage and insect damage.
Organic semiconductor-based soft electronics has potential advantages for next-generation electronics and displays, which request mobile convenience, flexibility, light-weight, large area, etc. Organic field-effect transistors (OFET) are core elements for soft electronic applications, such as e-paper, e-book, smart card, RFID tag, photovoltaics, portable computer, sensor, memory, etc. An optimal multi-layered structure of organic semiconductor, insulator, and electrodes is required to achieve high-performance OFET. Since most organic semiconductors are self-assembled structures with weak van der Waals forces during film formation, their crystalline structures and orientation are significantly affected by environmental conditions, specifically, substrate properties of surface energy and roughness, changing the corresponding OFET. Organo-compatible insulators and surface treatments can induce the crystal structure and orientation of solution- or vacuum-processable organic semiconductors preferential to the charge-carrier transport in OFET.

During KSTAR plasma experiments, torsional $Alfv\acute{e}n$ waves in the frequency of few GHz or below were detected. To understand this plasma waves during the crash of MHD instabilities, an RF spectrometer has been developed for detection of the radiated RF signals in the KSTAR Tokamak. It has the capability of broadband RF spectral measurement (50 ~ 400 MHz). To detect the broadband RF signals which are radiated from the KSTAR systems, a broadband antenna is the key feature of the RF spectrometer. In this paper, a broadband bowtie antenna for detection of $Alfv\acute{e}n$-waves in the KSTAR Tokamak is presented. Planar-type bowtie antenna is designed and fabricated on an FR4 substrate with thickness of 1.6 mm. The antenna consists of bowtie shaped balanced radiators and broadband planar balun. The antenna is designed to have an input impedance of 50 Ohm, and a taper-shaped balun is adopted for field and impedance matching between 50 Ohm transmission line to 110 Ohm feeding network of balanced radiators. The implemented antenna provides around -3 to 3 dBi of gain for the whole frequency band. The VSWR of the bowtie antenna is less than 12:1 over the frequency bandwidth of 50 to 2000 MHz.

Recently, a lot of research that applies data acquired from devices such as cameras and RFIDs to context aware services is being performed in the field on Life-Log and the sensor network. A variety of analytical techniques has been proposed to recognize various information from the raw data because video and audio data include a larger volume of information than other sensor data. However, manually watching a huge amount of media data again has been necessary to create supervised data for the update of a class or the addition of a new class because these techniques generally use supervised learning. Therefore, the problem was that applications were able to use only recognition function based on fixed supervised data in most cases. Then, we proposed a method of acquiring supervised data from a video sharing site where users give comments on any video scene because those sites are remarkably popular and, therefore, many comments are generated. In the first step of this method, words with a high utility value are extracted by filtering the comment about the video. Second, the set of feature data in the time series is calculated by applying functions, which extract various feature data, to media data. Finally, our learning system calculates the correlation coefficient by using the above-mentioned two kinds of data, and the correlation coefficient is stored in the DB of the system. Various other applications contain a recognition function that is used to generate collective intelligence based on Web comments, by applying this correlation coefficient to new media data. In addition, flexible recognition that adjusts to a new object becomes possible by regularly acquiring and learning both media data and comments from a video sharing site while reducing work by manual operation. As a result, recognition of not only the name of the seen object but also indirect information, e.g. the impression or the action toward the object, was enabled.
