  • The montane forests of Ulreung Island, Korea, were investigated by the ZM school method. By comparing the montane forests of this island with those of Korean Peninsula and of Japan, a new order, F a g e t a l i a m u l t i n e r v i s, a new alliance, F a l g i o n m u l t i n e r v i s, a new association, H e p a t i c o-F a g e t u m m u l t i n e r v i s and Rhododendron brachycarpum-Pinus parviflora community were recognized. The H e p a t i c o - F a g e t u m m u l t i n e r v i s was further subdivided into four subassociations; Subass. of Sasa kurilensis, Subass. of Rumohra standishii, Subass. of Rhododendron brachycarpum and Subass. of typicum. Each community was described in terms of floristic, structural and environmental features.

  • CO$_{2}$기체의 운동량변환, 진동여기, 전자여기 및 전리충돌 단면적의 결정은 온도 293[.deg.K], 상대전계의 세기 E/N은 1.0[Td].leq.E/N.leq.200[Td]의 범위에서 볼츠만 방정식을 Backward-Prolongation 방법으로 해석하여 전자 이동속도의 계산값을 산출하고 이것을 M. T. Elford에 의해 실험적으로 측정된 이동속도의 값과 비교하였다. 본 연구에서 운동량변환충돌단면적은 Hake & Phelps의 값을 기초로 하였으며 온도 293[.deg.K], 상대전계의 세기 E/N은 3.0[Td].leq.E/N.leq.50[Td]인 범위 전자에너지분포함수 및 전자특성에너지는 상대전계의 세기 E/N이 1.0[Td].leq.E/N.leq.200[Td]인 범위에서 산출하였다.

  • Let C[0, T] denote a generalized analogue of Wiener space, the space of real-valued continuous functions on the interval [0, T]. Define $Z_{\vec{e},n}$ : C[0, T] → ℝn+1 by $$Z_{\vec{e},n}(x)=\(x(0),\;{\int}_0^T\;e_1(t)dx(t),{\cdots},\;{\int}_0^T\;e_n(t)dx(t)\)$$, where e1,…, en are of bounded variations on [0, T]. In this paper we derive a simple evaluation formula for Radon-Nikodym derivatives similar to the conditional expectations of functions on C[0, T] with the conditioning function $Z_{\vec{e},n}$ which has an initial weight and a kind of drift. As applications of the formula, we evaluate the Radon-Nikodym derivatives of various functions on C[0, T] which are of interested in Feynman integration theory and quantum mechanics. This work generalizes and simplifies the existing results, that is, the simple formulas with the conditioning functions related to the partitions of time interval [0, T].

Orientations of Tecto-lineaments and Discontinuities for Different Rock Types in Andong Area (안동지역의 암종별 선구조선과 불연속면의 방위특성)

  • This study was carried out to understand the relationship between orientation of tecto-lineaments obtained from aero-photograph and orientation of discontinuities measured at field for the rock types of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks in Andong area. Total 847 tecto-lineaments were extracted from the aero-photographs and total 1,940 discontinuities including joints, foliations and faults were measured during geologic survey. By using the software DIPS, preferred trends of tecto-lineaments were deduced as N30E-N40E for igneous rocks and N50E-N60E for both sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, while the trends of discontinuities were found as N40E-N50E for igneous rocks, N50E-N80E for sedimentary rocks and N50E-N60E for meta morphic rocks. Even though both orientations for a given rock type showed relatively good agreement in its trend, some discrepancy is also appeared. Since construction safety of geo-structures such as tunnel and slope, etc., is significantly affected by the orientation of discontinuities in rock masses, it is highly recommended to perform a detailed geologic survey as well as an aero-photograph interpretation at a design stage.

  • This study proposes the O P E N Triad framework as a future set of tools and perspectives for individual members and institutes to further their professional and academic potential as well as prospect and vitalize the future of the Korean Clothing and Textiles discipline through a global perspective. The millennial generation desires On-demand, Personal, Engaging, and Networked (O P E N) experiences effecting cultural change for creative and influential interaction in transactions, communication, and education. O P E N Individuals offers a WebSphere model as a holistic learning system that has a synergizing value of education across academic courses, industries, and cultures. Through a digitalized and virtualized class, it complements relevant technologies already familiar to the student population. By employing environmental scanning approaches, the most influential and viable future global issues related to the clothing and textiles discipline are identified and dialogued within O P E N Institutes. For future clothing and textiles institutes, this scanning allows them to be open to new ideas, to focus on inter-engagements, to collaborate among individuals, to associate as a part of web of people, organizations, and ideas, to personalize an institutes curricula, and to dialogue generative knowledge. O P E N Industries reveals three dominant future issues that cross academia and industry, sustainability, supply chain management, and social networking. In-depth interviews with U.S. industry experts identified interdependent gaps in global consumer experience practices and suggested the following gaps as future research areas: a standardized business model to the entrepreneurial model, strategic management to a sustainable competitive advantage, standardized to differentiated products, services and operations, market segmentation to global consumer clusters, business-driven marketplaces to consumer-engaged marketspaces, and excellent services to optimal experience. This O P E N Triad framework empowers millennial students, universities, and industries to anticipate and prepare for a radically changing world.

Estimation of Effective Population Size in the Sapsaree: A Korean Native Dog (Canis familiaris)

  • Effective population size ($N_e$) is an important measure to understand population structure and genetic variability in animal species. The objective of this study was to estimate $N_e$ in Sapsaree dogs using the information of rate of inbreeding and genomic data that were obtained from pedigree and the Illumina CanineSNP20 (20K) and CanineHD (170K) beadchips, respectively. Three SNP panels, i.e. Sap134 (20K), Sap60 (170K), and Sap183 (the combined panel from the 20K and 170K), were used to genotype 134, 60, and 183 animal samples, respectively. The $N_e$ estimates based on inbreeding rate ranged from 16 to 51 about five to 13 generations ago. With the use of SNP genotypes, two methods were applied for $N_e$ estimation, i.e. pair-wise $r^2$ values using a simple expectation of distance and $r^2$ values under a non-linear regression with respective distances assuming a finite population size. The average pair-wise $N_e$ estimates across generations using the pairs of SNPs that were located within 5 Mb in the Sap134, Sap60, and Sap183 panels, were 1,486, 1,025 and 1,293, respectively. Under the non-linear regression method, the average $N_e$ estimates were 1,601, 528, and 1,129 for the respective panels. Also, the point estimates of past $N_e$ at 5, 20, and 50 generations ago ranged between 64 to 75, 245 to 286, and 573 to 646, respectively, indicating a significant $N_e$ reduction in the last several generations. These results suggest a strong necessity for minimizing inbreeding through the application of genomic selection or other breeding strategies to increase $N_e$, so as to maintain genetic variation and to avoid future bottlenecks in the Sapsaree population.

  • Consider the random n $\times$ m assignment problem with m $\geq$ $_{i,j}$ Let $u_{i,j}$ be iid uniform random variables on [0, 1] and exponential random variables with mean 1, respectively, and let $U_{n, m}$ and $T_{n, m}$ denote the optimal assignment costs corresponding to $u_{i, j}$ and $t_{i, j}$. In this paper we first give a comparison result about the discrepancy E $T_{n, m}$ -E $U_{n, m}$. Using this comparison result with a known lower bound for Var( $T_{n, m}$) we obtains a lower bound for Var( $U_{n, m}$). Finally, we study the way that E $U_{n, m}$ and E $T_{n, m}$ vary as m does. It turns out that only when m - n is large enough, the cost decreases significantly.tly.
