  • This paper present an analysis method of crankshaft of four cylinder internal combustion engine for studying dynamic characteristics of the shaft. For simple analysis, uniform sections of journal, pin and arm parts were assumed. Transfer Matrix Method was used, considering branched part and coordinate transformation part. Natural frequencies, natural modes and transfer functions of crank shaft were investigated based upon the Timosenko beam theory: It was shown that the calculated natural frequencies, modeshapes agree well with the experimental results.

  • The high temperature deformation behavior of $SiC_p/Al-Si$ composites and Al-Si matrix was studied by hot torsion test in a range of temperature from $270^{\circ}C$ to $520^{\circ}C$ and at strain rate range of $1.2{\times}10_{-3}~2.16{\times}10_{-1}/sec$. The hot restoration mechanisms for both matrix and composites were found to be dynamic recrystallization(DRX) from the investigation of flow curves and microstructural evolutions. The Si precipitates and SiC particles promoted DRX, and the peak strain$({\varepsilon}_p)$ of the composites was smaller than that of the matrix. Flow stresses of $SiC_p/Al-Si$ composites were found to be generally higher than the matrix, but the difference was quite small at higher temperature due to the decrease of capability of load transfer by SiC particles. With increasing temperature, failure strain of matrix and composites are inclined to increase, the increasing value of failure strain for the $SiC_p/Al-Si$ composites was small compared to that of matrix. The stress dependence of both materials on strain rate() and temperature(T) was examined by hyperbolic sine law, $\.{\varepsilon}=A_1[sinh({\alpha}{\cdot}{\sigma})]_n$exp(-Q/RT)

  • This describes the formulation for the free vibration of joined conical-cylindrical shells with uniform thickness using the transfer of influence coefficient. This method was developed based on successive transmission of dynamic influence coefficients, which were defined as the relationships between the displacement and the force vectors at arbitrary nodal circles of the system. The two edges of the shell having arbitrary boundary conditions are supported by several elastic springs with meridional/axial, circumferential, radial and rotational stiffness, respectively. The governing equations of vibration of a conical shell, including a cylindrical shell, are written as a coupled set of first order differential equations by using the transfer matrix of the shell. Once the transfer matrix of a single component has been determined, the entire structure matrix is obtained by the product of each component matrix and the joining matrix. The natural frequencies and the modes of vibration were calculated numerically for joined conical-cylindrical shells. The validity of the present method is demonstrated through simple numerical examples, and through comparison with the results of previous researchers.

  • The partial differential equations for a coil spring derived from Timoshenko beam theory and Frenet formulae. Dynamic stiffness matrix of a coil spring composed of a circular wire is assembled by using dispersion relationship, waves and natural frequencies. Natural frequencies are obtained from maxima in the determinant of inverse of a dynamic stiffness matrix with appropriate boundary conditions. The results of the dynamic stiffness method are compared with those of transfer matrix method, finite element method and test.

  • The effect of central axial load on natural frequencies of various thin-walled beams, are investigated by some researchers using different methods such as finite element, transfer matrix and dynamic stiffness matrix methods. However, there are situations that the load will be off centre. This type of loading is called eccentric load. The effect of the eccentricity of axial load on the natural frequencies of asymmetric thin-walled beams is a subject that has not been investigated so far. In this paper, the mentioned effect is studied using exact dynamic stiffness matrix method. Flexure and torsion of the aforesaid thin-walled beam is based on the Bernoulli-Euler and Vlasov theories, respectively. Therefore, the intended thin-walled beam has flexural rigidity, saint-venant torsional rigidity and warping rigidity. In this paper, the Hamilton‟s principle is used for deriving governing partial differential equations of motion and force boundary conditions. Throughout the process, the uniform distribution of mass in the member is accounted for exactly and thus necessitates the solution of a transcendental eigenvalue problem. This is accomplished using the Wittrick-Williams algorithm. Finally, in order to verify the accuracy of the presented theory, the numerical solutions are given and compared with the results that are available in the literature and finite element solutions using ABAQUS software.

  • Complex and large lattice type structures are frequently used in design of bridge, tower, crane and aerospace structures. In general, in order to analyze these structures we have used the finite element method(FEM). This method is the most widely used and powerful tool for structural analysis. However, it is necessary to use a large amount of computer memory and computation time because the FEM resuires many degrees of freedom for solving dynamic problems exactly for these complex and large structures. For overcoming this problem, the authors developed the transfer stiffness coefficient method(TSCM). This method is based on the concept of the transfer of the nodal dynamic stiffness coefficient which is related to force and displacement vector at each node. In this paper, the authors formulate vibration analysis algorithm for a complex and large lattice type structure using the transfer of the nodal dynamic stiffness coefficient. And we confirmed the validity of TSCM through numerical computational and experimental results for a lattice type structure.

To investigate camshaft behavior, transient vibration analysis is performed by using the transfer matrix method. The camshaft is treated as lumped mass system supported by spring and damper. Front the presented analytical model, we could predict dynamic behavior of camshaft, shaft locus within bearing and bearing load. The presented mode and results will be very helpful to design the optimal camshaft and valve train system.

  • In this study, to investigate vibration response of piping systems due to pulsation flow, a transfer matrix method is presented. Fluid-pipe interaction is formulated using wave equation for flow velocity and pressure, which depends on position and time. From the wave equation, transfer matrix is obtained. The dynamic responses of piping systems induced by pulsation flow appeared to depend upon fluctuation fluid velocity and pressure occurrnece from pulsation, and beating phenomena were observed near the resonance. Consequently, the dynamic behaviors of piping systems appeared to the same as response characteristics of the inside flow pattern of the pipe, and are determined by the inside fluid flow.

  • Sperm competent for fertilization can become capacitated, bind to the zona pellucida (ZP) of an egg in a specific manner, and complete acrosomal exocytosis. Failure to carry out these functions results in infertility. Although the interactions between the ZP and the plasma mem-brane overlying the sperm acrosome have been considered important for sperm-egg recognition and signalling, recent results have prompted a reassessment of current paradigms concerning these interactions. In this review, we're going to discuss about the roles of the acrosomal matrix, the particulate component of the acrosomal contents, in fertilization. The general hypothesis is that acrosomal exocytosis leads to the exposure of acrosomal matrix proteins that become de-facto extracellular matrix (ECM) on the surface of the sperm head, and that the dynamic interactions of this newly-exposed sperm ECM with the egg ECM (the ZP) govern sperm-egg recognition and sperm penetration of the ZP Informations from these experiments may provide new ways to address the poor ZP binding of sperm from some human infertility patients and may offer new avenues for contraception through the disruption of purposeful sperm-ZP binding.
