A Study on the Vehicle Dynamic Characteristic of Displacement Sensitive Shock Absorber (변위감응형 충격흡수기의 차량 동력학적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The performance of shock absorber is directly related to the car behaviour and performance, both for handling and ride comfort. The displacement sensitive shock absorber has two modes of damping force (i.e. soft and hard) according to the position of piston. In this study, a mathematical nonlinear dynamic model is introduced to predict the performance of displacement sensitive shock absorber. Especially in this paper, the transient zone is considered and the simulation result is well fit with experimental data. And the vehicle dynamic characteristic of displacement sensitive shock absorber is presented using quarter car simulation model. The simulation results of frequency response are compared with passive shock absorber.

  • The shock absorber is a part having a direct influence on the ride comfort, stability and dynamic load prediction of a vehicle. Thus, a rationally modeled shock absorber should be required in the dynamic analysis of vehicles. This thesis presents a modified model, based on Worden's hyperbolic tangent function, in order to fit experimental data on the velocity-damping force of a shock absorber. The hyperbolic tangent function correctly indicates the characteristics of a shock absorber, and has the advantage of containing physical causality. To evaluate the method, comparative evaluations of the linear model, the 5th polynomial model and Worden's model were carried out. The function presented in this paper is not only simple but also makes it possible to estimate the function coefficients easily and visually. In addition, it has the advantage of containing physical causality. Lastly, it effectively models the damping force of a shock absorber.

  • In this study. a computer simulation of the Korean High Speed Prototype Test Train was performed to investigate the dynamic behavior(running stability. safety and comfort) in detail design process. The simulation model which was prepared by ADAMS/Rail V10.l consists of power car and middle car assembly (2 motorized cars + 3 trailer cars). The nonlinear analysis takes into account the full vehicle model including wheel/rail contact and the influence of disturbed track. Throughout the dynamic calculation of KHST on the straight and the curved track. accelerations in car body. ride comforts and wheel rail forces were investigated.

  • Adopting articulated bogie system, the HSR350x and KTX have similar physical mechanical characteristic, but they show different dynamic characteristics due to different position of suspensions and those physical properties. The low level vibration frequency which effects on the ride comfort of passengers and the high level vibration frequency which is related to noise of vehicle have been measured by accelerometers mounted on Wheel sets, Bogies and Car bodies to analysis the dynamic characteristics of the High-Speed Trains. The KTX number 36 is utilized to measure the lateral and vertical acceleration value of car body, and total measurement system of HSR350x have been used to acquire acceleration data. The sampling frequency of data is 500Hz generally, but the Car body at TT2 of HSR350 has 1000Hz exceptionally.

  • High speed railway structure, contact of vehicle needs to design considering the running stability(dynamic behavior). Also, upper structure has to satisfy design standard about moving load, high speed train(KTX). So, the high speed railway structure has to satisfy the requirement of natural frequency, vertical acceleration on deck, face distortion and vertical displacement considering ride comfort, which is suggested Ho-nam high speed railway design standard. In this study, it was investigated and evaluated to the dynamic behavior for a double-rib arch railway bridge subjected to moving load considering real high speed train loads.

  • Korean trains pass many mountain areas, so the volume of structures like bridge and tunnel has large part of railway lines. Train speed-up naturally needs a straight line in railway, then structures are increasing, and this influences passenger's comfort and the safety of operation, and it needs more track maintenance. The stiffness of bridge and tunnel is higher than the soil in the roadbed in spite of dynamic difference in vibration and displacement. Differences in stiffness have more dynamic effects and increase the deformation and destruction in the track and roadbed. This study will measure periodically to structure's approaches which have very fast track irregularity and analyze dynamic differences and track irregularity near structure's approaches, so realize the cause of track irregularity of structure's approaches and use basic data for reasonably strengthening method of structure's approaches.

  • Active suspension technology of railway vehicles has received attention as the way to replace the current passive suspension. This paper deals with the dynamic performance of an active suspension system for a railway vehicle. To verify performance of an active suspension, the dynamic performance of the railway vehicle with active suspension system analyzed and compared with conventional suspension system by using the VI-rail program.

  • Most large commercial aircrafts and high performance military aircrafts use fly-by-wire (FBW) or fly-by-light systems to improve their controllability, comfort, and safety. A flight envelope protection technique is used with flight control systems utilizing the FBW technique. Such flight envelope protection systems prevent these aircraft from exceeding the structural/aerodynamic limits and control their surface limits. This is accomplished by predicting the values of the future state variables and adaptively compensating the control action. In this study, the conventional dynamic trim algorithm of the flight envelope protection is modified to increase the method accuracy and to handle cases with multiple variables. Numerical simulation is also performed to verify the performance of the proposed method.

Analysis of the Characteristics of Dynamic Frequency Responses in Railway Plate Girder Bridges (철도 판형교의 동적응답 주파수 특성에 대한 분석)

  • Railway plate girder bridges have characteristics that are not show dominant frequency in dynamic response frequencies like obtained vertical acceleration on the bridge during the train passing because the train loading relatively bigger than the bridge self-weight. This paper experimentally confirmed in FFT result has various frequencies due to inherent characteristic of railway train loading. To establish classification of dynamic frequency range in railway bridge acceleration during the train passing, vibration frequencies result from experimental test are analyzed concerning actuation vibration factors. Factors are train velocity, train type, mass ratio of vehicle/bridge, stiffness of bridge, bridge/track and vehicle/track. From the result, it is proposed that the frequencty classfication table with corresponding factors. Using the proposed table to develop rehabilitation technique of the plate girder bridge, to expect vibration reduction and comfort enhancement of the railway plate girder bridge.

  • Dedicated outdoor air-conditioning(DOA) system that utilizes pre-cooling and desiccant dehumidification can be superior to conventional cooling and reheating system with respect to energy consumption and indoor thermal comfort. In this work, simulation has been conducted to study various factors that affect the performance of DOA. Dynamic simulation shows the transient variation of temperature and humidity as the on/off control logic is imposed. Exit humidity of process air and flow rate are varied to study the effect on exit temperature of process air, dehumidification quantity, required regeneration temperature and exit humidity of regeneration air. For an outdoor air condition of $28.5^{\circ}C$ temperature, 16 g/kg humidity ratio and 2000 cmh flow rate, the dehumidification efficiency is increased by 4.6% as the flow rate is doubled.
