Impacts of green technologies in distribution power network

  • Green technologies such as renewable energy resources, Electric Vehicles and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (EVs/PHEVs), electric locomotives, etc. are continually increasing at the existing power network especially distribution levels, which are Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV). It can be noted that the increasing level of green technologies is driven by the reduction emission policies of carbon dioxide ($CO_2$). The green technologies can affect the quality of power, and hence its impacts of are analysed. In practical, the environment such as wind, solar irradiation, temperature etc. are uncontrollable, and therefore the output power of renewable energy in that area can be varied. Moreover, the technology of the EVs/PHEVs is still developed in order to improve the performance of supply and driving systems. This means that these developed can cause harmonic distortion as the control system is mostly used power electronics. Therefore, this paper aims to analyse the voltage variation and harmonic distortion in distribution power network in urban area in Europe due to the combination between wind turbine, hydro turbine, photovoltaic (PV) system and EVs/PHEVs. More realistic penetration levels of SSDGs and EVs/PHEVs as forecasted for 2020 is used to analyse. The dynamic load demands are also taken into account. In order to ensure the accurate of simulation results, the practical parameters of distribution system are used and the international standards such as Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standards are also complied. The suggestion solutions are also presented. The MATLAB/Simulink software is chosen as it can support complicate modelling and analysis.

  • Total Maximum Daily Load(TMDL) is a core basin management system to assign total emissions of pollutants to unit basin and emission source within a limit of the target water quality and to secure sustainability. considering "Environment and development" together. By current technical guidance of TMDL, the water quality in the riverbed of which the target water quality is noticed, must achieve the target; and the water quality standard for evaluating achievement of the target should be prescribed as non-excessive probability quality of water on the basis of the pertinent water quality documents. Therefore, the study calculated the target water quality by each unit basin which the target water quality must be noticed through the analysis of probability for water quality documents in rivers at the time of establishing a plan, and the study evaluated the achievement possibility of the target water quality by analyzing and comparing the target water quality plan with the standard water quality to evaluate the achievement of the target water quality. As the result, applying the proposed method to Mihocheon River system, it is concluded that selected the target water quality (Each BOD 3.3mg/1 and BOD 3.0mg/1) in Miho A and Musim A is available. Of course, it showed that the target water quality: BOD 2.5mg/1 in Miho A and BOD 3.0mg/1 in Musim A, could be achieved if the small reduction in B unit area was implemented.

Buckling behavior of smart MEE-FG porous plate with various boundary conditions based on refined theory

  • Present disquisition proposes an analytical solution method for exploring the buckling characteristics of porous magneto-electro-elastic functionally graded (MEE-FG) plates with various boundary conditions for the first time. Magneto electro mechanical properties of FGM plate are supposed to change through the thickness direction of plate. The rule of power-law is modified to consider influence of porosity according to two types of distribution namely even and uneven. Pores possibly occur inside FGMs due the result of technical problems that lead to creation of micro-voids in these materials. The variation of pores along the thickness direction influences the mechanical and physical properties. Four-variable tangential-exponential refined theory is employed to derive the governing equations and boundary conditions of porous FGM plate under magneto-electrical field via Hamilton's principle. An analytical solution procedure is exploited to achieve the non-dimensional buckling load of porous FG plate exposed to magneto-electrical field with various boundary condition. A parametric study is led to assess the efficacy of material graduation exponent, coefficient of porosity, porosity distribution, magnetic potential, electric voltage, boundary conditions, aspect ratio and side-to-thickness ratio on the non-dimensional buckling load of the plate made of magneto electro elastic FG materials with porosities. It is concluded that these parameters play remarkable roles on the dynamic behavior of porous MEE-FG plates. The results for simpler states are confirmed with known data in the literature. Presented numerical results can serve as benchmarks for future analyses of MEE-FG plates with porosity phases.

Performance analysis of a call control scheme with buffering and dynamic bandwidth assignment for non-uniform traffic distribution (부하가 일정하지 않은 환경에서 버퍼 사용에 따른 시스템 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we analyze the call control scheme that is using buffer at new call and handoff call for non-uniform traffic load distribution, the multiple cell environments and the multiple types of services such as voice and data service. Considering the facts, the call admission control method using the effective bandwidth concept is employed in this paper, The bandwidth for a new call and a handoff call is allocated by the number of mobile station and dynamically assigned by taking account of the blocking rate of new calls and the dropping rate of handoff calls. The call control procedure is experimented through a simulation study by dynamically the bandwidth to new and handoff calls based on the blocking rate and the dropping rate. The results show our call control scheme can get a good quality of service for mobile users.

  • Present article deals with the static stability analysis of compositionally graded nanocomposite beams reinforced with graphene oxide powder (GOP) is undertaken once the beam is subjected to an induced force caused by nonuniform magnetic field. The homogenized material properties of the constituent material are approximated through Halpin-Tsai micromechanical scheme. Three distribution types of GOPs are considered, namely uniform, X and O. Also, a higher-order refined beam model is incorporated with the dynamic form of the virtual work's principle to derive the partial differential motion equations of the problem. The governing equations are solved via Galerkin's method. The introduced mathematical model is numerically validated presenting a comparison between the results of present work with responses obtained from previous articles. New results for the buckling load of GOP reinforced nanocomposites are presented regarding for different values of magnetic field intensity. Besides, other investigations are performed to show the impacts of other variants, such as slenderness ratio, boundary condition, distribution type and so on, on the critical stability limit of beams made from nanocomposites.

  • Vehicle Holding Device(VHD) has a role that holding the launch vehicle on its launch pad until the engine therust reaches a steady condition. The analytical study of shape parameters and dynamic characteristics of hydraulic cylinders is carried out. The contraction of cylinder is considered as the major factor of releasing mechanism. Through the analysis, the decreasing of cylinder slit size and increasing initial charging pressure increase the contraction force. Through the transient analysis, cylinder load, displacement and inner pressure distribution are confirmed. The cylinder contraction force is converged to the cylinder external force when the cylinder starts to move. Also, the pressure distribution in the hydraulic cylinder is constant.

Seismic Response Control Performance Evaluation of Retractable-Roof Spatial Structure With Variation of TMD Mass (TMD의 질량 변화에 따른 개폐식 대공간 구조물의 지진응답 제어성능 분석)

  • In the precedent study, the retractable-roof spatial structure was selected as the analytical model and a tuned mass damper (TMD) was installed to control the dynamic response for the earthquake loads. Also, it is analyzed that the installation location of TMD in the analytical model and the optimal number of installations. A single TMD mass installed in the analytical model was set up 1% of the mass of the whole structure, and the optimum installation location was derived according to the number of change. As a result, it was verified that most effective to install eight TMDs regardless of opening or closing. Thus, in this study, eight TMDs were installed in the retractable-roof spatial structure and the optimum mass ratio was inquired while reducing a single TMD. In addition, the optimum mass distribution ratio was identified by redistributing the TMD masses differently depending on the installation position, using the mass ratio of vibration control being the most effective for seismic load. From the analysis results, as it is possible to confirm the optimum mass distribution ratio according to the optimum mass ratio and installation location of the TMD in the the retractable-roof spatial structure, it can be used as a reference in the TMD design for large space structure.

  • Analysis of brake characteristics has progressed rapidly in recent years, as computer techniques have developed. However, there are many problems in predicting braking characteristics, due to the numerous design variables of the brake system. Therefore, a synthetic braking performance analysis is required for all brake system parts such as master cylinder, booster, control valve and split system. In this paper, a program which can analyze braking performance such as force distribution, braking efficiency, pedal force and pedal travel, is presented. The preprocessor of the program helps users prepare input files through a dialog box. An additional postprocessor makes the graph presentation of solved results. Also, a simple example problem is applied to show the usefulness of the presented program.

  • The Safety depressurization System(SDS) of KNGR prevents RCS from overpressurization by discharging high pressure and temperature coolant through the I-sparger into the IRWST during an accident. If IRWST water temperature rise locally, around the sparger, beyond $200_{\circ}$2000 F by the discharged coolant, unstable steam condensation can cause large pressure load on the IRWST wall. To investigate whether this condition can be avoided for the design basis event IOPOSRV(Inadvertent Opening of one Pilot Operated Safety Relief Valve), the flow and temperature distribution of water in the IRWST is calculated by using CFX 4.3 computational fluid dynamic code. According to the results, since pool water temperature does not exceeds temperature limit within 50 seconds after the opening of one POSRV, it can be assured that the integrity of IRWST wall is maintained.

  • New address electrode having separated dual electrode is suggested to reduce addressing time in ac PDP. Addressing characteristics of suggested electrode has been investigated in the test panel with high Xe partial pressure. It has been found that both the formative and jitter width of the suggested electrode is improved by 10 -20 % over the wide range of address voltage level compared with the conventional one. The dynamic margin of the panel also greatly improved. The key feature behind this type of structure is that it can extend the controllability of the wall charge distribution during the reset and address discharge without significant increase in capacitive load of address electrode.
