In this paper, the dynamic behavior of a 12m plate girder railway bridge is analyzed using the commercial FEM program. A time history load is applied to a standard train load via the shape function ofthe beam element. In addition, lateral behavior characteristics were simulated using the Klingel sine movement. A feasibility study of the FEM program and an analysis were performed by comparing the displacement and the acceleration, from the experimental data and the results of the FEM analysis. the time history of the lateral and vertical displacements are reflected in the experimental results. Six kinds of reinforcements were studied from the effects of the displacement and the acceleration. The RF-1 model that was applied to the upper lateral bracing system, and the RF-3 model that reinforced the plate, turned out to be the most effective reinforcement methods with respect to weight limits and construction simplification.

The concrete track was applied for Gyungbu 2nd phase high_speed railroad line as a basic track structure. Two track structures, ballasted track and non_ballasted concrete track, have a different train load transfer mechanisms. However, it's rare to see about research results related with it. So, to understand dynamic response characteristics of the concrete track and roadbed, we measured accelerations of carbody and bogie, vertical and lateral load, stress and displacement of rail, and earth pressures of subgrade at ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$k930 station of Gyungbu high_speed line during speed up tests before opening it. Based on these measured results, we could evaluate the level of dynamic responses of the track quantitatively.

This paper evaluates dynamic performance of a cab over type large-sized truck for estimating the effects of frame's torsional characteristics using a computer model. The computer model considers two mounting methods of frame, flange mounting and web mounting. Frame is modeled by finite elements using MSC/NASTRAN In order to consider the flexibility of frame. The torsional test of the frame is conducted In order to validate the modeled finite element model. A load cell is used to measure the load applied to the frame. An angle sensor is used to measure the torsional angle. An actuator is used to apply a load to the frame. To estimate the effects of frame's torsional characteristics on dynamic performance, simulations are performed with the flange mounting and web mounting frame. Simulation results show that the web mounting frame's variations of roll angle, lateral acceleration, and yaw rate are larger than the flange mounting frame's variations, especially in the high velocity and the second part of the double lane course.
Steel -Concrete Composite two girder railway bridges applying high performance steel with extra thick plate have economic and aesthetic advantages due to the simplification of manufacturing and construction process. However, steel bridges are seldom adopted in domestic railway bridge, since steel bridges are not efficient as R.C bridges considering dynamic characteristics and noise, etc. While highway bridges do not have lower horizontal bracing and larger interval of diaphragm cross beam, railway bridges install lower horizontal bracings to control the torsion due to heavy eccentrical line load. Accurate finite element analysis were performed with the parameters of existence of bracing and bracing shape, with the cross beam interval and stiffness, etc. To find out the effects of secondary members such as horizontal bracings and diaphragms, static md dynamic analysis have been performed by using finite element method. In this study, few member plate-girder bridges are analyzed with variable span lengths to examine the dynamic behavior and limits of damping. And though lateral bracings are members against torsion, but lateral bracing's absence is no big problem. Time history analysis using mode superposition method makes proof of this result.

Most unreinforced masonry buildings have a lot of structural faults under the lateral load. Therefore, considering the heavy damage of URM buildings caused by the earthquakes, it may be necessary for the effective seismic code and reinforcing method. This paper describes the research-in-progress on an experiment program fur the investigation of the relatively simple and reliable analytical model to estimate dynamic response of URM buildings and briefly reviews the concept of the reinforcement fur damaged URM buildings.

It is very important that predict the inelastic seismic behavior exactly for seismic performance evaluation of a building in the performance based seismic design. Evaluation method of seismic performance based on the pushover analysis reflected in PBSE was developed by some researchers. For the evaluation of inelastic global and local seismic responses by pushover analysis exactly. lateral load distribution should be adjusted and reflected the dynamic characteristics of structural system and various seismic ground motions. And performance point should be determined based on the evaluation of reasonable deformation capacity of a building more exactly. An effective method based on the improved the adaptive lateral load distribution and the equivalent responses of a multistory building is proposed in this study to efficiently estimate the accurate inelastic seismic responses. The proposed method can be used to evaluate the seismic performance for the global inelastic behavior of a building and to accurately estimate its local inelastic seismic responses. In order to demonstrate the accuracy and validity of this method, inelastic seismic responses estimated by the proposed method are compared with those obtained from other analytical methods.

The interlayers, either softer or stiffer than the surrounding layers, are usually overlooked during field investigation due to the small thickness. They may be neglected through the analysis process for simplicity. However, they may significantly affect the dynamic behavior of the soil-foundation system. In this study, a series of 3D finite-element Direct-solution steady-state harmonic analyses were carried out using ABAQUS/CAE software to investigate the impacts of interlayers on the dynamic response of a cast in place pile group subjected to horizontal harmonic load. The experimental data of a 3×2 pile group testing was used to verify the numerical modeling. The effects of thickness, depth, and shear modulus of the interlayers on the dynamic response of the pile group are investigated. The simulations were conducted on both stiff and soft soils. It was found that the soft interlayers affect the frequency-amplitude curve of the system only in frequencies higher than 70% of the resonant frequency of the base soil. While, the effect of stiff interlayer in soft base soil started at frequency of 35% of the resonant frequency of the base soil. Also, it was observed that a shallow stiff interlayer increased the resonant amplitude by 11%, while a deep one only increased the resonant frequency by 7%. Moreover, a shallow soft interlayer increased the resonant frequency by 20% in soft base soils, whereas, it had an effect as low as 6% on resonant amplitude. Also, the results showed that deep soft interlayers increased the resonant amplitude by 17 to 20% in both soft and stiff base soils due to a reduction in lateral support of the piles. In the cases of deep thick, soft interlayers, the resonant frequency reduced significantly, i.e., 16 to 20%. It was found that the stiff interlayers were most effective on the amplitude and frequency of the pile group.
In this study, the track-bridge interaction analysis was performed using an analytical model considering the track structure, thereby taking into account the linear conditions (R=650 m, cant variation $160{\pm}60mm$) and the dynamic characteristics of the bridge. As a result of the study, the allowable speed on the example bridge considered was calculated at 200 km/h based on vertical deflection, vertical acceleration, and irregularity in longitudinal level, but was also evaluated at 170km/h based on the coefficient of derailment, wheel load reduction, and lateral displacement of the rail head. It is considered desirable to set the speed 170km/h to the speed limit in order to secure the safety of both the bridge and the track. It is judged that there will be no problems with ensuring rail protection and train stability in the speed band.

Offshore structures are exposed to higher probability of collision with ship because of their limited mobility. In general, the consequence of the collision is reported to be relatively small and it is desirable to consider minor collisions in the design stage. It is important to have a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic responses of a tubular, their main member, under collision to design offshore structure against possible accidents. It is needed to estimate the probable extent of damage of a tubular, depth of dent, affected by the time history of impact load in ender to design a tubular strong enough for collision. In this paper, dynamic behaviors of a tubular due to the lateral impact are investigated through the numerical simulations with hydrocode DYNA3D, a three dimensional elasto-plastic large deformation impact contact problem analyzing program.
