  • The purpose of this study is to develop HTE-STEAM program using natural disasters for high school students and to verify their attitude and satisfaction with STEAM. We developed the HTE-STEAM program utilizing natural disasters and tested the effectiveness of 243 students from G High School and N High School. For data analysis, a single group pretest and post response t-test were conducted to verify the effects on attitudes and satisfaction with STEAM. The research results are as follows. First, we developed STEAM education programs for high school students by selecting the topic of "natural disasters" in the area of earth science and flying drones as lifesaving drones. The six-hour program was designed to give students the experience to solve problems by applying essential knowledge related to natural disasters and drones, and what they learned in other situations. Second, there was a significant statistical test result in the t-test of the corresponding sample by the difference between the pre and post score of the STEAM attitude test (p <.05). The drone-based HTE-STEAM program had a significant improvement in the overall attitude toward STEAM education, which consists of seven subfactors. Third, in the HTE-STEAM satisfaction test, the average value of the lower job offer was 3.64 ~ 3.76, which showed a positive response overall. It is judged that the students' satisfaction is improved through the students' understanding of the problem situation and the design of creative convergence and production process.

  • With the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic and the era of the 4th industrial revolution, archaeological heritage education has entered a new phase. This article responds to the trends in the post-COVID-19 era, seeking ways to develop archaeological heritage education and sustainable strategies necessary in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. The program of archaeological heritage education required in the era of the 4th industrial revolution must cultivate creative talent, solve problems, and improve self-efficacy. It should also draw attention to archaeological heritage maker education. Such maker education should be delivered based on constructivism and be designed by setting specific learning goals in consideration of various age-specific characteristics. Moreover, various ICT-based contents applying VR, AR, cloud, and drone imaging technologies should be developed and expanded, and, above all, ontact digital education(real-time virtual learning) should seek ways to revitalize communities capable of interactive communication in non-face-to-face situations. The development of such ancient heritage content needs to add AI functions that consider learners' interests, learning abilities, and learning purposes while producing various convergent contents from the standpoint of "cultural collage." Online archaeological heritage content education should be delivered following prior learning or with supplementary learning in consideration of motivation or field learning to access the real thing in the future. Ultimately, archaeological ontact education will be delivered using cutting-edge technologies that reflect the current trends. In conjunction with this, continuous efforts are needed for constructive learning that enables discovery and question-exploration.

  • We propose an practical embodiment-based programming training course for middle school students using Arduino and conduct survey before and after the curriculum. Arduino is an open source physical computing platform that integrates the IDE used in processing language. It is a low-cost, relatively simple I/O interface compared to other platforms, and because of its practical formability, it is educational material suitable for programming. Subsequent surveys will provide feedback on changes in cognition of programming needs and improvement in thinking skills. In this study, the program based on embody-based programming using Arduino was conducted for 8 weeks for each first grade, and 112 middle school students for two years from '16 to '17. Based on the theoretical and practical training, the training was based on the application of the ultrasonic sensor to the RC car and the preparation of the adduction quadrotor drone. The purpose of this study is to prove that the recognition, necessity, and programming education of middle school students are effective for the improvement of thinking ability through the program based on embody-based programming using Arduino.

  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) have mostly been used for military purposes but with the progress in ICT and reduced manufacturing costs, they are increasingly used for various private services. UAVs are expected to carry out autonomous flying in the future. In order to carry out complex tasks, swarm flights are essential. Although the swarm flights has been researched a lot due to its different network and infrastructure from the existing UAV system, There are still not enough study on security threats and requirements for the secure swarm flights. In this paper, to solve these problems, UAV autonomous flight technology is defined based on US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), and swarm flights and security threat about it are classified. And then we defined and compared security requirements according to security threats of each swarm flights so as to contribute to the development of secure UAC swarm flights in the future.

  • Although there are differences in the classification of category adopted by each country, small UAS is usually classified as the one less than 25 kg. UAS has been mainly used for military and public purposes, but in recent years, it has spread to the private sector for hobby, media, and so on. Especially, considering the nature of the operating region and applications, it is necessary to improve operating time, noise and vibration in small UAS to ensure the same level of safety with a manned aircraft. This is because the drone can pose health and safety hazard through collision with manned aircraft or crashing into the ground. In this paper, we investigated operational regulations in the United States and European countries. Based on the investigation, a domestic system development plan for small UAS operation is under development.

  • Coastal sand dunes have been regarded as natural defenses to protect hinterland from disasters such as storm surge and typhoons. However, many dunes are not well-deserved in South Korea because of imprudent land development or inappropriate measures after coastal erosion. Lately, beach nourishment and dune reinforcement are emphasized as the effective and environmentally sustainable solution for the coastal protection. They are regarded good strategies to keep landscapes for a time, with little side effects. However, there is little knowledge on the construction methods including proper design and time plans for the best results. In addition, the effects of dune reinforcement in the field should be tested. In thisstudy, we performed sand filling in an eroded dune scarp and surveyed topographic changes in the beach-dune system, which is located along Dasa-ri coast, Chungnam Province, South Korea. Using a network RTK-GPS and drone-based aerial photographs, we analyzed the temporal and spatial changes in the area, before and after the reinforcement. As a result, the dune reinforcement seems to be helpful to mitigates the coastal erosion and to prevent the coastline retreat at least for one year.

  • Recently, RFID/USN technology has been applied in various fields such as logistics, environment, education, home network, disaster prevention, military, and medical care, but despite the remarkable development of RFID/USN technology, it is difficult to apply it to marine industry due to the characteristics of poor marine environment. Therefore, satellites are mainly used in the marine sector, and existing communication networks are used in the coast, so measures for forming a shelf-only short-range network in the ocean are being considered. In this paper, we consider the use of drones as mobile base stations of USN as a base station role using USN in existing PS-LTE and LTE networks.Since autonomous navigation vessels are aiming for the intelligent system, the number of crew and labor force should be reduced and the function of autonomous network formation in the form of more stable and intelligent ICT convergence technology should be strengthened.

  • In this study, when applying the 'geological structure' content element of high school earth science I developed according to the 2015 curriculum to the STEAM program using a web-based expert system using 3D data of Google Earth and drones, the creative problem-solving ability of high school students, attitudes toward STEAM, and the results of this study are as follows. First, after applying the STEAM program, high school students' creative problem-solving ability showed meaningful results at the p<.001 level. Second, STEAM attitudes showed a significant value at the p<.001 level, confirming that they had a positive impact on high school students' attitudes towards STEAM. It was judged that web-based class activities using Google Earth and drones were useful for integrated thinking such as learners' sense of efficacy and value recognition for usefulness of knowledge. High school students' satisfaction with the STEAM program was 3.251, showing a slightly high average. It was confirmed that web-based class activities such as drones and Google Earth had a positive impact on learners' class satisfaction. However, it was interpreted that the lack of time for class activities limited the ability of the learners to increase their interest in class. The proposal of this research is as follows. First of all, in consideration of the production of presentation materials and practical training in the STEAM program, activities such as block time and advance instruction for class understanding before class are necessary. Secondly, in order to revitalize STEAM education in the high school curriculum, we judge that research on the development of various integrated education programs that can be applied to the high school grade system is necessary.
