A planetary gear train is more compact and endures greater amounts of transmission power compared to other gear systems. Although planetary gear systems operate in small volumes, they are capable of very high efficiency due to the compact combination of their gears in the planetary gear system. They also have outstanding efficiency of only 3% for power transmission, tantamount to the power loss that occurs in each of the shift stages. Given these advantages, planetary gear systems are used in the driving systems of, which are widely used in automobile transmissions, machine tools, semiconductor equipment, and in other areas in industrial fields. Current structural equipment requires higher efficiency and greater torque levels. According to these needs, we have designed a complex planetary gear system which creates higher levels of torque. In this paper, an evaluation of strength designs for the proposed planetary gear system was conducted to ensure the stability of the gear. In addition, a durability analysis based on Miner's rule was performed using RS B 0095 device.

Analysis of load on major parts of the tractor power drive line is critical for efficient and optimum design of a tractor. The purpose of this study was to evaluate severeness of the tractor PTO driving axle during rotary tillage operation. First, S-N (stress vs. number of cycle) curve of a PTO driving gear was obtained through the fatigue life test using a PTO dynamometer. Second, PTO severeness was evaluated during rotary tillage operation. Torque measurement system was constructed with strain-gauge sensors to measure torque of a PTO axle, an I/O interface to acquire the sensor signals, and an embedded system to calculate severeness. The severeness of PTO was analyzed using measured torque data during rotary tillage. In the PTO gear life fatigue test, breakage time and bending stress of the gear were measured by tooth widths and torque change during the fatigue life test. The S-N curve showed a good linear relationship between bending stress and number of cycle (life) with a coefficient of determination of 0.97. For PTO severenss evaluation, rotary tillage operations were conducted at two PTO rotational speeds (level-1, level-2) under different paddy and upland field sites with different soil conditions. Results of averaged relative severeness for PTO level-1 and PTO level-2 were 1.96 and 3.34, respectively, at paddy field sites, and they were 1.36 and 2.51, respectively, at upland field sites. The results showed that the PTO driving axle experienced more severe load during rotary tillage at paddy fields than at upland sites, and relative severeness was greater at the higher PTO rotational speed under all of the soil conditions.
A vehicle driving simulator is a virtual reality device which a human being feels as if the one drives a vehicle actually. Driving Operation System acts as an interface between a driver and a driving simulator. This paper suggests the driving operation system for a driving simulator. This system consists of a controller, DC geared motor, MR brake, rotary encoders, steeping motor and bevel gear box. Reaction force and torque on the steering system were made by DC_Motor and MR_Brake. Reaction force and torque on the steering system were compare between real car and a driving simulator. The controller based on the 80C196KC micro processor that manage and transfer signal.
A retarder, as a supplementary brake system that is not friction-based, is frequently used in heavy-duty vehicles generally to slow the vehicles down on inclines. The electric retarder mainly used in a heavy-duty bus is generally placed between the transmission and the axle. The rotor inside the retarder system is attached to the axle. The operation of the retarder within a driven vehicle generates reverse torque due to coast driving force on hypoid gears in the differential gear system. By the reverse torque, scoring or scuffing on the hypoid gear teeth may directly occur. The scoring may be generated due to excessive contact stresses on the tooth surface. In this study, tooth contact stresses and contact patterns were analysed in order to investigate on the tooth scoring phenomenon using a finite element analysis program T900 in which the Hertzian contact stress formula was taken. Backlash, wear and surface finish were considered in the finite element simulation on the scoring.
To evaluate vehicle performances and driving behavior of a vehicle, it is necessary to acquisit and analyze vehicle data during the vehicle driving, which affect fuel economy and emissions. An in-vehicle data acquisition system, which is called Mode Survey System(MOSS), is designed and developed to analyze the traffic and driving patterns of the vehicle. MOSS is a stand-alone system based on the 68HC11 MCU. MOSS logs various data relating to powertrain and vehicle driving such as vehicle speed, engine RPM, gear position, brake, clutch, fuel consumption, and others. The driving patterns are dependent on the driver's habit and the road and traffic conditions, these driving patterns would be able to make a official driving mode to be used in emission, fuel efficiency, shift survey, catalyst durability, and other tests using the analyzed driving patterns.

This paper proposes design guidances for noise reduction of a bank teller cash recycler(TCR). The operating noise of a TCR is required to be reduced because it bothers bank tellers and customers. The operating noise from a TCR is measured and the most influential driving system is examined. To find the main sources of the noise, the frequency spectra are analyzed by comparing with excitation frequencies of the driving system. From the analysis results, we reveals that the main sources of the noise are gear mesh frequency of a certain gear train and its side band frequencies, which is attributed by vulnerable support condition. Consequently, to reduce the operating noise, the structural modification for the gear train support is suggested and its effectiveness for the noise reduction is confirmed experimentally.

A shift control algorithm of a newly developed two-speed gear shift system is proposed for electric vehicle applications. The algorithm is formulated according to the motor torque map and optimized to obtain the adequate propulsion characteristics for vehicle. Two speed gear system with shift control algorithm has proved greater efficiencies in terms of energy economy with its simplified hardware and software structures. The gear shifting is designed to be carried out by an actuator and the control signal from a vehicle control unit equipped with $\mu$-processor. The results of performances and efficiency of the algorithm by simulation and vehicle test are described.

Multi-axes driving system is more suitable for FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System) compared with a conventional single-azis driving system. It has some merits such as flexibility in operation, improvement of net working rate, maintenance free because of no gear train, etc. However, studies on position synchronous control for high precision in the multi-axes driving system are not enough. In this paper, a new method of position synchronous control is suggested in order to apply to the multi- axes driving system. The proposed method is structured very simply using speed and position controller based on PID control law. Especially, the position controller is designed to keep position error to minimize by controlling either speed of two motors. The effectiveness of the proposed method is successfully confirmed through several experiments.

This paper presents a design of deadbeat control system for DC motor driving such a rotational mechanical system with gear as a printing machine. The deadbeat response design developed for control system of a sampled continuous-data process does not guarantee zero intersampling ripples, but the proposed deadbeat control system that consists of the integral controller and the full-order state observer, has many advantages such as an output response without the ripples, and setting time than the optimal control system in the same sampling period. The results of case study through MATLAB simulation are shown that the efficiency of the proposed controller for DC motor driving a rotational system with gear is verified by comparing with optimal controller etc..
A two-axis gimbal-type X-band antenna is widely used to transmit bulk image data from high-resolution observation satellites. However, undesirable microvibrations induced by driving the antenna should be attenuated, because they are a main cause of image-quality degradation of the observation satellite. In this study, a pseudoelastic memory alloy (SMA) gear was proposed to attenuate the microvibrations by driving the antenna in an azimuth angle. In addition, the proposed gear can overcome the limitations of the conventional titanium blade gear, which is not still enough and is vulnerable to plastic deformations under excessive torque. To investigate the basic characteristics of the proposed SMA mesh washer gear, a static load test was performed on the thickness of the SMA mesh washer and the rotation of the gear. Moreover, The microvibration measurement test demonstrated that the SMA mesh washer gear proposed in this study is effective for microvibration attenuation.
