In the case of SAE autonomous driving levels 2 and 3, since complete autonomous driving is impossible, the take-over process is essential, and take-over time(TOT) is the most important factor in determining the safety of the autonomous driving system. Accordingly, research on TOT is being actively conducted, but each research is independently conducted and general conclusions that integrate various research results are required. Therefore, in this study, the factors affecting TOT were analyzed using meta-analysis, which integrates the results of individual studies and presents an integrated opinion. As a result of meta-analysis, a total of 10 influencing factors were selected, and most of them were related to the non-driving related task(NDRT) type. In addition, implications for the future research direction of take-over and NDRT were presented.
The physical tool for analyzing collision accidents narrows down to the conservation law of momentum. The conservation law of momentum which is also utilized to investigate or to analyze a traffic accident is essential to Newton mechanics. This paper suggests an alternative analytical tool based on the conservation law of momentum. Simply put, the tool is a alternative qualitative method of analyzing a car's direction to find out whether it is driving over the centerline This paper proposes a deduction theory that use qualitative information to make a qualitative analysis of which car drove over the center line.
Along the seashore regions in Korea, though strong winds with very large strength are frequently witnessed, no system which can provide appropriate speed information for driving vehicle has been introduced. The driving against strong winds could be very dangerous because of the high possibility of accidents such as rollover and collision. These accidents usually resulted from driver's forced driving try even in difficult situation for steering vehicle, and sometimes overspeed without consideration of wind impact to the vehicles. To reduce accident caused by strong winds, it is important to inform drivers of appropriate driving speeds by perceiving strong winds. By setting up WIS at the main points where strong winds frequently appear and using the variable message sign(VMS) connected to the on-line whether information system, it tis possible to provide desired speed information, which can maintain vehicles' tractive force and maximum running resistance. The case study is conducted on the case of Mokpo-Big-Bridge, which is under construction at Mokpo city. The result show that in case the annual average direction of wind is South and the wind speed is over 8m/hr, the desired speed, which is required in order for vehicles running to South direction to maintain the marginal driving power, is 60km/hr. In addition, for the case of a typhoon such as Memi generated in 2003 year, if wind speed had been 18m/sec in Mokpo city at that time, the running resistance at the speed of 40km/hr is calculated as 1131N. This resistance can not be overcome at the 4th gear(1054N) level, therefore, the gear of vehicles should be reduced down to the 3rd level. In this case, the appropriate speed is 40km/h, and at this point the biggest difference between running resistance and tractive force is generated.

As the development automated vehicles(AV) actively progresses around the world, the demand for a reasonable and systematic evaluation method for AVs is increasing. Research on scenarios, evaluation procedures, and methods for evaluating AVs conducted in simulations and proving ground(PG) is actively conducted internationally. In contrast, methods and procedures for evaluations on real roads are still in their infancy internationally. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on evaluating AVs on real roads in preparation for future use of AVs. This study aims to define the basic direction for evaluating the driving safety of AVs on real roads. To this end, the evaluation direction and process of AVs were presented on the real roads, and qualitative and quantitative evaluation indicators were selected to evaluate driving safety. A total of 38 items were selected based on the Road Traffic Act as qualitative evaluation items for evaluating the driving safety of AVs on real roads.

The driving environment of the vehicle has characteristics that the change of position, velocity and distance between vehicles is severe. The performance test of system must be carried out in the real road environments with consideration of the driving environment of vehicles to measure the performance correctly because the performance of vehicular communication systems is affected by the driving conditions of the vehicle. In this paper, we propose the test methods of V2V/V2I performance and V2V multi-hop transmission function and present the test results measured by the vehicular communication systems already developed. In the test result, we confirmed the fact that the distance of communication devices and the driving direction of vehicle are affecting the communication performance. We also confirmed the multi-hop transmission function using the driving vehicle in the limited area as the proposed test method.
This paper proposes an Fuzzy-based Risk Reasoning Driving Strategy on VANET. Its first reasoning phase consists of a WC_risk reasoning that reasons the risk by using limited road factors such as current weather, density, accident, and construction, a DR_risk reasoning that reasons the risk by combining the driving resistance with the weight value suitable for the environment of highways and national roads, a DS_risk reasoning that judges the collision risk by using the travel direction, speed. and distance of vehicles and pedestrians, and a Total_risk reasoning that computes a final risk by using the three above-mentioned reasoning. Its second speed reduction proposal phase decides the reduction ratio according to the result of Total_risk and the reduction ratio by comparing the regulation speed of road to current vehicle's speed. Its third risk notification phase works in case current driving speed exceeds regulation speed or in case the Total_risk is higher than AV(Average Value). The Risk Notification Phase informs rear vehicles or pedestrians around of a risk according to drivers's response. If drivers use a brake according to the proposed speed reduction, the precedent vehicles transfers Risk Notification Messages to rear vehicles. If they don't use a brake, a current driving vehicle transfers a Risk Message to pedestrians. Therefore, this paper not only prevents collision accident beforehand by reasoning the risk happening to pedestrians and vehicles but also decreases the loss of various resources by reducing traffic jam.

This paper describes the development of an indoor locomotion assistive robot, Ball-Chair, comprising a novel drive system. This robot facilitates locomotion assistive operation in narrow spaces, in which common wheelchairs cannot move easily. The Ball-Chair has two main features: its structural feature and driving mechanism. The exoskeleton frames of the Ball-Chair have been designed with octagonal shapes resembling a circle, for minimizing its volume and weight. Additionally, all its driving parts (including the ball) are mounted within of the robot to enhance its safety. The Ball-Chair features a reverse ball-mouse driving mechanism comprising two driving omni-wheels in the x- and y-axes. By controlling the speed of each omni-wheel, a holonomic driving system that can facilitate omnidirectional locomotion has been achieved using only two wheels. The effective movement of the Ball-Chair in any direction within narrow indoor spaces was experimentally verified. The paper outlines the development procedure in detail.
It is essential to collect and analyze target information around the vehicle for autonomous driving of the vehicle. Based on the analysis, environmental information such as location and direction should be analyzed in real time to control the vehicle. In particular, obstruction or cutting of objects in the image must be handled to provide accurate information about the vehicle environment and to facilitate safe operation. In this paper, we propose a method to simultaneously generate 2D and 3D bounding box proposals using LiDAR Edge generated by filtering LiDAR sensor information. We classify the classes of each proposal by connecting them with Region-based Fully-Covolutional Networks (R-FCN), which is an object classifier based on Deep Learning, which uses two-dimensional images as inputs. Each 3D box is rearranged by using the class label and the subcategory information of each class to finally complete the 3D bounding box corresponding to the object. Because 3D bounding boxes are created in 3D space, object information such as space coordinates and object size can be obtained at once, and 2D bounding boxes associated with 3D boxes do not have problems such as occlusion.

Recently, as the demand of the information storage devices with large storage capacity such as BD(Blu-ray Disk) and HDTV(high-definition television) is increased, the optical storage devices are also required to have fast data transfer rate and large storage capacity. To satisfy these requirements, the actuator for optical disk drive should have high flexible mode frequencies for system stability. In this paper, we suggested a moving magnet type actuator having high flexible mode frequency. However, the moving magnet type actuator does not have sufficient driving sensitivities due to the weight of its moving part. To improve driving sensitivities, we designed the model with the closed electromagnetic circuit for tracking direction. In addition, driving sensitivities and flexible mode frequencies were improved by using DOE(Design of Experiments) for magnetic circuit and modifying the lens holder. Consequently, it is confirmed that the designed model is satisfied with the desired specifications.

Path tracking of unmanned vehicle is a basis of autonomous driving and navigation. For the path tracking, it is very important to find the exact position of a vehicle. GPS is used to get the position of vehicle and a direction sensor and a velocity sensor is used to compensate the position error of GPS. To detect path lines in a road image, the bird's eye view transform is employed, which makes it easy to design a lateral control algorithm simply than from the perspective view of image. Because the driving speed of vehicle should be decreased at a curved lane and crossroads, so we suggest the speed control algorithm used GPS and image data. The control algorithm is simulated and experimented from the basis of expert driver's knowledge data. In the experiments, the results show that bird's eye view transform are good for the steering control and a speed control algorithm also shows a stability in real driving.
