The objective of this study was to examine the degree of job stress and drinking levels among emergency room nurses and to investigate the association between these variables. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires completed by 106 nurses working in emergency room of hospitals from 3 different cities. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 program. The results showed that the mean job stress score was 45.93±6.81 points, while 18.9% of the subjects were in the disordered alcohol use group. Differences in drinking levels were found according to the work experience of the nurses (χ2=8.249, p=.041), while significant differences in job stress scores were found according to marital status (t=-2.72, p=.008) and desire to continue working (t=-2.272, p=.025). There was a significant correlation between job stress and drinking level (r=-.147, p= .000). Measures to lower job stress among emergency room nurses are need based on the findings in the study and it is expected that decreasing the drinking level of nurse would contribute to this.
Objective : The aim of this study was to investigate fatigue-related factors including socio-demographic variables and life styles among workers in the automobile manufacturing industry. Method : The subjects were 22,937 individuals who had received health examination by Korean Medical doctors and responded to questionnaires for 8 months from March to November in 2011. The fatigue index was measured by heart rate variability (HRV) in an automobile manufacturing industry. A multivariate analysis with SPSS version 19.0 was used to examine the relationship between fatigue and other factors including ages, smoke consumption, drinking frequency, exercise frequency, occupational category, conjugal condition. Results : In comparison between normal and very bad level of fatigue, factors of ages, smoking, drinking, and exercise showed significant difference(p<0.05). In addition, when normal and bad fatigue were compared, ages, smoking, exercise also produced significant difference(p<0.05). Furthermore, in normal and good level of fatigue comparison, occupation and smoking yielded significant difference(p<0.05). Finally, in other comparisons between normal and very good fatigue, exercise, smoking and occupation revealed significant difference(p<0.05). Conclusion : The results of this study suggest that age increase affects fatigue negatively, whereas exercise and drinking of once or twice per a week can have positive correlations.

This study was conducted to investigate the influence of chlorella diet supplementation. Blood accumulation and urine excretion levels were measured after the Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were fed on a chlorella diet supplementation mixed with 40 ppm of CdCl$_2$. Four groups tested for blood accumulation and urine excretion levels. All four groups fed on a basic diet with a cadmium mixture. The diet for the first group contained only basic diet and the cadmium added to the drinking water. The diet for the three other groups contained cadmium to the drinking water, and 1%, 5% and 10% of chlorella added to the basic diet. A concentration of cadmium for the first group showed a 3.2$\pm$0.4 $\mu\textrm{g}$/I blood accumulation level and 41.5$\pm$32.9 $\mu\textrm{g}$/l urinary excretion level, and the second group, which was fed on the basic diet with 1% of chlorella added and cadmium to the drinking water showed a $1.5\pm$0.6 $\mu\textrm{g}$/l blood level and only l4.l$\pm$1.6 $\mu\textrm{g}$/l urinary excretion level. The other two groups, which were fed on 5% and 10% of chlorella concentration and cadmium to the drinking water did not exhibit any notable effects greater than the group fed on 1% concentration of chlorella. The results suggest that the blood accumulation and urinary excretion of Cadmium are influenced by the chlorella diet supplementation from the concentration of 1% of the basic diet.

Vitamin E in the body system plays an important role in preventing chronic diseases by decreasing the oxidative stress by free-radicals. However, there are not enough researches on analyzing the primary factors affecting vitamin E levels in the blood in Korean adults. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to examine blood tocopherol levels and the primary factors affecting the status. A complete lifestyle survey was performed on 314 Korean adult men and surveyed their smoking, drinking and exercising habits. The average plasma level of ${\alpha}-\;and\;{\gamma}-tocopherol$ showed similar mutual relations with plasma total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), or low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels (p<0.001). Plasma ${\alpha}-tocopherol$ level of the subjects did not show any difference as smoking, drinking and exercising habits changed. However, ${\gamma}-tocopherol$ per TG showed much lower figure in smokers than non smokers (p < 0.05). Amongst diet factors, plasma ${\alpha}-tocopherol$ level showed negative correlations with Vitamin E intake, while ${\gamma}-tocopherol$ level showed positive correlations with Vitamin E intake. Erythrocyte superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and plasma tocopherol showed negative correlations, and catalase activity and plasma ${\alpha}-tocopherol$ showed positive correlationship. The level of cell DNA damage of Iymphocyte and plasma ${\alpha}-\;or\;{\gamma}-tocopherol$ showed negative correlations. As a result of this research, the factors that affect Korean adult men's plasma ${\alpha}-tocopherol$ level are plasma TG, LDL-C and cell DNA damage in Iymphocyte, while the factors that affect ${\gamma}-tocopherol$ level are plasma TG, LDL-C and vitamin E intake based on multiple regression analysis. These findings implies that the level of different types of tocopherol depends on slightly different factors. A further research is needed on the factors involved in the differentiation of the types of tocopherol.

The purpose of this study is to identify the relevance of drinking habits among college students on the creation of drinking problems and behavioral problems and depression related to drinking problems. For this, random sampling was performed on students enrolled in a college located in Chungcheongnam-do from December 12, 2011 to December 23, 2011. For the study instruments, we gathered data using questionnaires in with a survey reorganized based on literary reviews and previous studies. A total of 262 questionnaires have been collected. The results of the investigation are as follows. As a result of performing the frequency analysis to find the drinking habits of college students, 38.2% of them were found as having drinking habits. Also as a result of analyzing whether there is difference of depression levels according to the drinking habits of college students, the instance of having drinking habits had relatively high depression level compared to the instance of not having drinking habits after analyzing by the existence of drinking habit. This study found the relevance of drinking habits among college students which leads to drinking problems and depression to present the objectives for the improvement of drinking habits. Through this study, a policy oriented support of the government related to the specific drinking problem preventing strategies and programs are anticipated.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of life stress, depression, and drinking motives on problem drinking among college students. The subjects were 249 college students and data were collected through a self-reported structured questionnaire from Nov to Dec 2016. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. The findings showed that drinking motives were the biggest factor influencing their problem drinking with coping, social, enhancement and conformity motives exerting special effects on it. As for correlations with problem drinking, interpersonal and ongoing task stress of life stress had positive correlations with problem drinking. Coping, social, enhancement, and conformity motives also had positive relations with problem drinking. Drinking motives had critical effects on the problem drinking of college students with coping, social, and enhancement motives strongly impacting on it. The findings necessitate examining the drinking motives of college students to make them choose to drink including negative emotions, social activities, and gatherings in order to prevent their problem drinking. These factors could explain 33% of the problem drinking. It is also required to develop methods for them to utilize resources other than drinking and run drinking education and temperance programs at the school level.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of the environment on adolescent binge drinking. Methods: The study was designed as a cross-sectional study. Using statistics from the 17th (20201) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, the raw data target population was 2,629,588 people, and the sample group used for analysis as the final data was 54,848 people. A Rao-scott 𝑥2 test and univariate multinomial logistic regression analysis were performed using IBM SPSS 27.0. Results: In the results of univariate logistic regression analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis, common related variables were gender, school level, academic achievement, sleep satisfaction, current smoking, daily smoking, and alcohol education experience. Conclusion: As a result of confirming the factors influencing binge drinking in Korean adolescents, some variables that increase the possibility of problematic drinking behavior in the socio-environmental areas such as individuals, communities, and national policies were identified. For effective prevention and intervention, it is necessary to develop programs to build a healthy environmental support system with support from national policies, including individuals, peer groups, and communities.
Objectives: This study was performed to identify the socioeconomic factors, the psychosocial factors and the heath behavior factors that have an influence on abdominal obesity, as measured by using the waist circumference. Methods: Data was obtained from individuals aged above 20 years who had their waist circumference measured on the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2001, which was a cross-sectional health survey. Results: Regression analysis of the factors that affect abdominal obesity showed that the education level, income, smoking, duration of smoking, drinking consumption, frequency of exercises and sleeping were the associated factors for abdominal obesity. For men, the duration of smoking, education level, income and drinking consumption were the associated factors for abdominal obesity. For woman, the education level, income, duration of smoking, drinking consumption and frequency of exercise were the associated factors for abdominal obesity. Conclusions: Abdominal obesity is a risk factor for morbidity and mortality, and it is associated with chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Based on the findings, it is essential to modify heath behaviors for preventing abdominal obesity, which is a condition associated with the incidence of chronic disease.

The physiological responses caused by exposure of high- and low-level lead exhibit different phase. Low-level lead continuous hypertension, but high-level lead can in the development of hypertension. In this study it was tested which difference can be caused as lead levels and, if it can be caused, whether hematological changes are related with the hypertensive effects induced by different levels of lead exposure was tested. Lead intoxication in male SD rats was induced by exposure through drinking water containing 50, 200 and 1000 ppm lead (as lead acetate). The animals of control group was supplied drinking water containing sodium acetate ad libitum. The number of each animal group was 10. Systolic blood pressures were measured in the unanesthetized state by the tail-cuff technique at 0, 3, 7 and 16 weeks. RBC, WBC, MCV, hemoglobin, hematocrit and whole blood viscosity levels were examined.
The objective of this research was to evaluate the growth performance, the apparent ileal digestibility of nitrogen and energy, the retention of nutrients and the apparent metabolizable energy corrected to zero nitrogen retention (AMEn) in broiler chickens supplemented with increasing doses of a worm leachate (WL) as a source of humic substances (HS) in the drinking water. In Exp. 1, 140 male broilers were penned individually and assigned to four WL levels (0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%) mixed in the drinking water from 21 to 49 days of age. Water was offered in plastic bottles tied to the cage. In Exp. 2, 600 male broilers from 21 to 49 days of age housed in floor pens were assigned to three levels of WL (0%, 10%, and 20%) mixed in the drinking water. The WL was mixed with tap water in plastic containers connected by plastic tubing to bell drinkers. The results of both experiments were subjected to analysis of variance and polynomial contrasts. In Exp. 1, the daily water consumption was similar among treatments but the consumption of humic, fulvic, and total humic acids increased linearly (p<0.01) as the WL increased in the drinking water. The feed conversion (p<0.01) and the ileal digestibility of energy, the excretion of dry matter and energy, the retention of dry matter, ash and nitrogen and the AMEn showed quadratic responses (p<0.05) relative to the WL levels in drinking water. In Exp. 2, the increasing level of WL in the drinking water had quadratic effects on the final body weight, daily weight gain and feed conversion ratio (p<0.05). The addition of WL as a source of HS in the drinking water had beneficial effects on the growth performance, ileal digestibility of energy, the retention of nutrients as well on the AMEn in broiler chickens; the best results were observed when the WL was mixed at levels of 20% to 30% in the drinking water.
